I googled the name tigress - twas for medical stuff thanks rather than singing.

MyOtherProfile · 06/03/2018 23:18

On Bristol local radio thst spoke to some formerly famous athlete whose name began with v and he had been one of the choir on CTM. Said it was a day's work so I don't think they are a choir.

iklboo · 07/03/2018 07:58

Ah I see. They were still fab & should be a choir! Smile

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/03/2018 12:01

liney 😂 spot on!!

Frombothsidesnow · 07/03/2018 15:36

See, I can't believe 9 pages and no one had addressed the real outrage of the episode.

Sister Julienne asked Phyllis whether 'myself and the other midwives' could help.

Sister Julienne would NEVER have misused the reflexive pronoun.

Also a good reason to find Timmy annoying is his instant use of 'Mum' for Shelagh. Just grated.

toldmywrath · 07/03/2018 16:15

What an entertaining and humorous thread. My DH cannae stand thon doctor, he'll be delighted Grinwhen I tell him that the mumsnet massive call him Dr One Face.

squarecorners · 07/03/2018 16:51

Meh I don't mind Timothy calling "shelagh" (she's still Sister Bernadette to me) mum, that was pretty normal for that generation to call step parents mum /dad I think, especially if the biological parent want in the picture for whatever reason. My MIL called her stepdad "dad"

IhaveChillyToes · 07/03/2018 17:20

Have you guys seen the photo of Rev in RT?

Looks completely different

The Lord's Prayer part had me welling up; think it was particularly non-religious Phyllis saying the words that she knew would comfort Barbara and Tom, despite her views.

But..the tableau of the nuns and midwives standing in Nonnatus House just before Phyllis brought Tom there was ridiculous. They were all completely still and facing in different directions; it looked like a waxwork museum! And its rubbishness really contrasted the quality of Linda Bassett's acting a few seconds later on the steps.

FuzzyCustard · 07/03/2018 18:03

Psalm 23 (pedant!) but I agree Yarg...the tableau was weird.

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 07/03/2018 18:31

IhaveChillyToes Yeah but what does he sound like? He's very very whiny - that'd have to go.

CornishYarg · 07/03/2018 18:41

Fuzzy Thank you! I meant to type The Lord is My Shepherd but got distracted partway through!

FeistyColl · 07/03/2018 18:53

Oh yes the tableau! Totally cringe worthy. I confess the 'choir' made me feel a bit like that too. Absolutely beautiful but too perfect. I don't like being so obviously manipulated.

MysticFlyTrap · 07/03/2018 18:57

The rev in that picture pwoarBlush

Pebble21uk · 07/03/2018 19:49

I've only once heard Jack Ashton (Rev) interviewed in real life and he was all a bit Mockney... talking about football and being 'One of the laaads'. Think he was trying to distance himself from his character.

MrsHathaway · 07/03/2018 19:51

From the trailer I think the next episode is going to see a more testosterone-y Rev. Last of the series requires High Drama after all.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/03/2018 20:12

The bit that got me was when Barbara realised she wasn't getting better and knew she was dying, she made a comment about the next bit would upset the people that loved her 😭 I still can't believe they killed her off!!

SimonBridges · 07/03/2018 20:26

I’ve just been inspired.

I’m watching a thing about the history of a street in Glasgow.
What they should do is Call the Midwife - Glasgow or Manchester etc.
I know that the original is based on real life but that is long gone now.
They could do it in similar areas to the East End but in other cities.
It would give a great social history outside of London.

Trixie didn't want to marry Tom because he wanted to work in deprived areas of inner cities. Maybe she'd be fine with him getting a nice country parish but that was Tom's plan for Barbara if she got well so it would be wrong I think.

Cue Dr Oneface's support for Tom because he's been through this himself.

GnotherGnu · 07/03/2018 20:58

That was an extraordinarily fully populated remand home. There must be quite a crime wave amongst the local lads.

AppleKatie · 07/03/2018 21:13

Call the midwife- on tour!

Love it already.

Optimist1 · 07/03/2018 21:34

The unwarranted rise of Dr OneFace has been an irritation to me, too. Imagine how distressing it is for those of us who also watch Holby City to have yet another McGann doctor taking an important role! Grin

squarecorners · 07/03/2018 21:54

optimist1 Plus there was a McGann who was Doctor Who! Grin

toldmywrath · 07/03/2018 22:20

SimonBridges I like the sound of the Glasgow program you're watching, what is it called please?
