One of them was in a show with hnor Blackman in the 1980s. He was an assistant to a "career girl". It'd be horribly dated now I'm sure.

iklboo · 08/03/2018 10:53

The Dr Who McGann is the Holby doctor.

There's four of them acting I think.

Joe
Paul
Stephen
Mark

LinesInTheSand · 08/03/2018 12:33

They are all a bit wooden, even the sainted Paul.

Joe McGann was the one in the sit com with Honor Blackman and I couldn't watch it because of him.

And they all have the same face.

MrsHathaway · 08/03/2018 12:38

Oh is that the one where HB played the overbearing mother but it was another woman who PMG worked for? I have an image in my head of a barn conversion.

Itsbeenaverylongweek · 08/03/2018 12:56

The Upper Hand. Honor Blackman's character was a bit of a "cougar" if I recall. And Danny Dyer's wife off Eastenders played Joe McGann's daughter

squarecorners · 08/03/2018 14:05

Yes! When she was dancing with Kevin From Grimsby on Strictly Cum Faces and people kept saying she was off eastenders I kept thinking "yes but she's off something else" and couldn't put my finger on it till right at the end.

furryleopard · 08/03/2018 15:07

I saw Joe McGann in Fiddler on the Roof about 10 years ago and he was very good to be fair. I loved the Upper Hand as a kid and Kellie Bright was the coolest person I'd ever seen I thought.

gildashairflick · 08/03/2018 21:03

Paul McGann as The Monocled Mutineer set my teenage hormones aquiver something terrible! I have a real soft spot for them all the McGanns but The Turners are stretching that 30 + year loyalty!

Auntpetunia2015 · 08/03/2018 21:51

As someone who knew the McGanns at school and even took my driving test with Dr One Face! I have to admit he’s driving me mad in this series..he’s everywhere surely there would be more than one dr in the practice? He does surgery, nursing home, and everything in between.

Estrelizia · 09/03/2018 14:32

Auntpetunia
Oh you mean he is the Dr Karl Kennedy of CTM .

MargotLovedTom1 · 09/03/2018 16:35

Paul will always be the Ultimate McGann because of Withnail & I, even if he's now been reduced to Holby City. I still maintain I don't mind O'Patrick (which is the only way Shelagh seems to be able to say his name.

GreenOr · 09/03/2018 17:18

Grin margot O’Patrick! That’s so true! I like the Dr, but she is the most annoying character.

I also find that Tom has a smarmy look.

squarecorners · 09/03/2018 17:35

Tom is fit, but I worry he is a secret axe murderer. Actually if they could write him as secretly being an ace murderer that make him marginally more interesting

squarecorners · 09/03/2018 17:36

An axe murderer. Not sure what would constitute being an ace murderer... Hmm

DenPerry · 09/03/2018 17:52

I know the chat has moved on but I've only just watched it and am gutted about Barbara. She was young, lovely, vibrant and so kind.. but not in a sickly way. Why couldn't she just go and work in third world countries if she wanted to leave the show Sad So depressing. What a waste of a life.

GreenOr · 09/03/2018 18:06

Hah square I wonder whether he’ll be looking for choir boys soon!

FuzzyCustard · 09/03/2018 18:21

Ha ha Square, I laughed at the "ace murderer". Obviously he never got caught.

Pemba · 09/03/2018 18:49

I agree that Tom comes over a bit wet. Mind you, so did the saintly late Barbara (still a shame she's gone though.) The actor is perhaps not that good, didn't appear to emote sufficiently at his young wife's death.

It was always a bit odd to me to see Charlotte Ritchie playing St Barbara, as I first saw her in the Channel 4 comedy 'Fresh Meat' playing a much more edgy character. I suppose she got fed up with the role, and by choosing that Barbara died of septicemia *sp? , the scriptwriters have publicised the dangers, which can only be good.

Agree about Dr OneFace, his brother Paul was always a bit of a heartthrob though (those blue eyes!) , and a much better actor.

MrsHathaway · 09/03/2018 20:18

Ahem hem Nurse Dyer (pub Valerie, irl Jennifer Kirby) Liked my tweet today. I am therefore now officially an expert.

No, it wasn't about CTM or midwifery at all. But ssh.

Optimist1 · 09/03/2018 22:02

I bet you were asking her for the best supplier of all things teal, MrsH !! Grin

Unicornsandrainbows3 · 10/03/2018 05:49

I just read online that the Cynthia, Patsy and Delia actors have quit the show. Noooo!

MargotLovedTom1 · 10/03/2018 07:10

Pemba I also loved Fresh Meat. I think though, when you scratch the surface, Oregon wasn't all that different to Barbara. She tried very hard to be edgy, when in actual fact she was a nice, middle class, ex- Pony Club young woman from the Home Counties called Melissa who was kind and hard working in a very earnest way Grin.

Yorkshirebetty · 10/03/2018 09:41

It's a shame that Patsy left, she had a very interesting back story as a child interned on a Japanese camp. Nurse Dyer is nice, but a bit one dimensional.

Yorkshirebetty · 10/03/2018 09:41

in a Japanese camp, sorry

scrabbler3 · 10/03/2018 10:32

Patsy and Delia had so much potential. It's a real shame that they have left. Agree that Valerie is one dinensional but the actress is very good, so hopefully the character will be padded out in the next series.

Fresh Meat was a very clever programme. Brilliant cast too. The lovely Oregon could easily have been Barbara and Toms's granddaughter, you could imagine the character coming from churchy stock and a happy family.
