I’m surprised how good it is for that time slot. I’ve always like Mark Benton but he usually is a side kick, nice to see him in a lead role.

numbereightyone · 02/03/2018 17:03

We're only a week in and already Sebastian is one of my favourite television characters.

DMCWelshCakes · 02/03/2018 21:50

Found this today & I'm loving it.

In case anyone's interested in another good show, I can highly recommend Frankie Drake on Alibi.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 02/03/2018 23:57

The Coroner is not as lighthearted as S&H it was more serious but like S&H there is some lovely scenery and lovely properties to enjoy on top of the good stories.

numbereightyone · 03/03/2018 10:01

I did think The Coroner was good but I far prefer S&H.

liquidrevolution · 03/03/2018 10:05

I have a slight crush on the guy in the coroner. Have done since he was in Touch of Frost.Blush gutted to hear it's been cancelled.

Can't feel the same way about Mark Benton ConfusedSad

Worth noting that my recorder stops recording Shakespeare and Hathaway after 5 mins. It's a digital protest I think Grin

Frith1975 · 03/03/2018 12:01

We’ve been to nearly all the locations! Can’t watch it without shouting “the butterfly farm!” and “Coughton Court!”

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 03/03/2018 12:52

Bingeing on the weeks recordings. Is it my imagination or does DI Marlowe fancy Frank?

Mrsmadevans · 03/03/2018 18:08

Ohhh Judas I haven't seen her fancying himbut tbh l may have missed it though will watch and see.
I prefer S & H to the coroner though , the clothes in the Coroner are just awful and I don't like her mum or the mum's BF .... being picky
Thank you DMC I will have a look for Frankie Drake too

Sorry fancy is too flippant. I meant, possibly, she might be a teeny bit in love with him? Could be wrong.

Mrsmadevans · 03/03/2018 23:14

ohhh I will watch very carefully next Monday for signs of this. Do you think the character loves him or the actress in RL cannot hide her feelings even though she is on the job sts.

The Coroners mother’s house though.......dreamy! Can’t say I noticed the clothes much, too busy looking at the gorgeous scenery! The South Hams where it was filmed is beautiful.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 04/03/2018 12:52

Grin no, I definitely meant the character!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 04/03/2018 13:08

I think Marlowe is a bit of an unwilling Shakespeare fan girl maybe?

I never got into The Coroner, but love Father Brown. I got a bit worked up because I thought they'd only screened one episode of the latest series before returning the repeats, but looking at the whole series episodes guide, I think I actually saw them all Sad

So anyway, am finding Shakespeare and Hathaway equally entertaining and have extended my lunch break to fit it in Grin

Petalflowers · 04/03/2018 17:43

Watched the first episode last night and really enjoyed it. I'm also surprised it's not on prime time tv.

icelolly99 · 04/03/2018 21:19

We've watched them on Catch Up with the kids and really enjoyed them. Hoping that the latest series of Australian dramas Dr Blake and A Place to Call Home will be on UK TV soon.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2018 14:09

I’m enjoying

Simple drama /comedy /murder

BackforGood · 05/03/2018 14:12

I'm loving it. Didn't realise it was on in the afternoons - I've been watching on 'Catch up'.
It's my new 'Death in Paradise' Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 05/03/2018 14:26

Brilliant! Morgana Robinson doing her Windsor’s ‘Pippa Middleton’ voice!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 05/03/2018 15:04

I love the Peppaaaaaah Middleton character in The Windsors and Eugenie and Beatrice too. They're my favourites.

Also loving Lou's casual photographic memory.

Petalflowers · 05/03/2018 18:00

Backforgood - the Death In Paradise is a good, comparison. Ie a gentle, murder mystery drama, if you can call murder gentle.

numbereightyone · 05/03/2018 18:02

Shakepeare and Hathaway doesn't take itself too seriously, which is why I prefer it to The Coroner.

invitroveritas · 05/03/2018 18:25

The way the characters are drawn in the Stratford show makes me think of Doc Martin, even the opening theme is similar. I like that there's a mother and son chemistry between the two main characters, she has the brains and he really is an appalling slob!

Some great older women actors in it, haven't seen Sheila Steafel for ages. Sebastian is my favourite, although I'm barking up the wrong tree, obvs.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/03/2018 21:36

Noooooo! Coroner wins hands down!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 06/03/2018 10:08

Another one enjoying this. To be it seems a cross between Midsomer Murders and Rosemary and Thyme.

Really want to go to Stratford upon Avon now. Didn't realise it was as Olde Worlde as it appears to be in the show. Is it really like this?
