www.farmcottages.com/shakespeare-and-hathaway-bbc-drama/
has a bit about locations.

I haven't been to Stratford for years, but remember very clearly the contrast between a modern town and the historic buildings.

Sebastian is getting some great acting stretches today Smile

vintagechick43 · 06/03/2018 14:58

I'm also loving it especially as a lot of it was filmed in the market town where I live near Stratford. In fact one scene was filmed right outside my Mil house which has a little cobbled road outside it.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 06/03/2018 15:13

Thanks, Enrique! Really will have to make a trip there one day.

FlaviaAlbia · 06/03/2018 21:28

I just watched the first episode of The Coroner, it’s a pity they cancelled it! It’s really good too, though I do prefer Shakespeare and Hathaway.

AlishaMary · 07/03/2018 15:09

There are small pockets of Stratford town that are quaint and tudor-esque. But it’s mostly like any normal town. And lots of S&H looks like it’s filmed in the surrounding villages anyway. Great advert for Warwickshire though.

numbereightyone · 07/03/2018 15:21

I think Stratford is a beautiful town. Very picturesque.

AlishaMary · 07/03/2018 15:37

Yes it is but it’s not all black and white buildings and cobbled streets. It’s mainly crippling traffic and coffee shops.

numbereightyone · 07/03/2018 15:40

It is pretty compared to most places in the UK.

cheesydoesit · 09/03/2018 10:00

Just found this on the BBC website. You can submit feedback and comments. I’ve asked for another series!

I don’t think Benji Wilson, the author of this article, shares our love for S and H. Everything he hates about it is what we love -the literacy detective names, the quaint old buildings, the medieval-type music. It what makes the programme what it is. Maybe everything put together is a little corny, but that’s the whole point.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/03/2018 14:24

Have sent feedback to the Beeb asking for more. I still have the last episode to watch, but I'll be sorry when I have as that means no more.

MrsJayy · 12/03/2018 15:54

Oh dear don't think S&H is for Benji talk about harsh

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 12/03/2018 19:46

Just read that review and it was written after the first episode. I think part of the series' charm was that you warmed to it, so he should've waited and seen more before deciding. He says

See, Sebastian's my favourite and I don't think the joke is about 'effeminancy' I think it's playing on his thespian aspirations and all the different guises he embraces. It's that they seem a hapless threesome, but all bring differing skills to the party and as an ensemble it works.

The reviewer wouldn't even know that though after one programme.
