I think after a few very intense episodes it’s nice for a change. And I love a bit more background on the characters

Just read on USA Today that April and Arizona will be leaving as the actresses’ contracts have not been renewed

Will be written out, I mean. It doesn’t say if the characters will leave or be killed off.

I think both characters have run their course, so not bothered if they both leave! I'd like April to get back with Matthew & run off with him.

I don't think I've ever seen such a backlash online as the producers are getting for this. April is probably the most popular character (she certainly generates the most social media buzz) and the actress was only told 48 hours ago after nearly a decade on the show. I think it will hit the ratings next season, horrible way to treat 2 great actresses.

I love April. Would rather have seen Jackson go.

I think getting rid of them both is a mistake... Arizona has been massively underused, but I used to love her. Getting rid of old characters seems really sad. I just don’t care that much about the others.

It's funny as I still think of them both as newbies! I also hate that they forget about Arizona's false leg!

I love both of them! Still wondering about the relevance of Sophie suddenly returning home to Arizona. Out of nowhere. Barely a storyline. Saw her briefly. Is that it?! Weird.

I was thinking the same about Sofia. It doesn't make sense, they obviously planned a storyline.

There does seem to be a tradition of invisible kids in Grey's though - maybe she's just been shipped off to the 24-hour crèche with the rest of them.

It's been a bit disappointing this season and last. I have been avidly watching for years but I think the lack of time involved in the medical procedures and things like Amelia being back at work the next episode after a brain tumour with no area of her head shaved just annoys me now. There is just no realism to it, it's too glossy and superficial these days. And too many characters, with none in any real depth. I do wonder if they are running out of steam with the storylines..............

But why bring her back at all?! No explanation. Odd. Getting rid of Arizona and April too. All sounds like the writers are getting a bit desperate. Really don’t want it to go downhill!

Maybe there's going to be a big Arizona/Sophia storyline that sees them both off.
