And that the radiant Nurse Hathaway a bit of a bitch - at least to Jeannie

Aridane · 15/04/2018 21:03

But great Sunday evening binge viewing

BatSegundo · 16/04/2018 20:15

Has it finished now?

Aridane · 16/04/2018 20:18

No, still going strong Smile !

iklboo · 16/04/2018 21:44

Nope - still on Season 2.

dingdongdigeridoo · 17/04/2018 09:41

Agree Aridane. Hathaway has been awful the last few episodes. It was out of character for her to bully Jeanie like that.

MozzchopsThirty · 17/04/2018 10:10

Tbf Jeannie's comment 'isn't that a nurses job' would've pissed me off too.
Behave like that in healthcare you get what's coming

iklboo · 17/04/2018 15:50

I can sort of see Carol's point. Her job had been cut by about 60% to pay for Jeannie's role and yet she was still be asked to do everything. They might end up rubbing along ok (I didn't see this series first time round).

MargoLovebutter · 17/04/2018 15:55

I love this show. I remember it used to be shown on Thursday nights back in the 1990s and I was in my 20s and had a full on banging social life, which involved being out nearly every night of the week EXCEPT for Thursday evenings, when I had to be in to watch ER!!!!!

I was in love with most of the doctors at some point during the many seasons. Still get the same shiver of excitement when the title music comes up.

Xmasbaby11 · 17/04/2018 20:48

I missed a lot when ER was first on as I lived abroad on and off. It's such a great show - don't think there's been a better medical drama since.

duggiehug · 17/04/2018 21:44

Man, having kids has totally changed how I respond to shows like this. Watching it as a teenager I enjoyed the drama but I wasn't so damn affected by all the plot lines. Now they get to me on a whole other level. I'm just watching where Susan has to leave little Suzie with Chloe and it's so so so sad Sad

Eighttimeseight · 18/04/2018 09:46

Love love love this. Am in Ireland and it used to be on a Sunday night after the news. It punctuated the weekend for me!

Love all the characters - love the dynamic between Jeannie and Hathaway .... think it's realistic - none of us are perfect.

Love Mark Green - and even now watching it am so disappointed he and Susan don't get together. He ends up with Corday and I don't think they were well matched at all. And she ends up with a guy called Chuck who she was meh about for ages. I'm over invested!

And I love Carters character - flaws and all. Wonderful dynamic between Benton & Carter.

And Carrie Weaver - brilliant! And Romano is yet to come!!! When the kids are in bed and I sit down by myself for an hour this is my first choice.

FoofFighter · 18/04/2018 10:16

Yay Susan and Mark, don't know what that never happened

Still catching up on my dvd season one
Made a mistake putting the dvd in backwards though and ended up watching it out of order Blush

I watched it all again fairly recently.

It was fun spotting early career actors on it. Who knew Ewan McGregor had been in an episode.?

Aridane · 18/04/2018 20:42

Can someone explain what a Resident is, a Chief Resident and an Attending?

dingdongdigeridoo · 18/04/2018 21:16

Resident is a term for postgrad medical students I believe. So people like Susan would have their medical degree, and be doing a sort of crappily paid internship in the hospital to get experience. A chief resident would be a kind of supervisor. I think the Attending is the head of their department, like Carrie is for the ER.

I forgot how many HIV storylines were in 90s TV shows. You hardly see it mentioned on modern medical dramas.

duggiehug · 18/04/2018 22:04

I've always thought that in UK equivalents the residents would be registrars and the attending are consultants. Carter would be a junior doctor or FY1/2. I could be wrong though.

DrGreeneChairLean · 18/04/2018 22:46

I record it and look forward to watching it every night! What I really need to do is have some self control and save up some episodes for a good solid binge one weekend. I used to have a few seasons on vhs Smile Been in floods of tears the last few episodes with Susan losing baby Suzy, definitely didn't affect me like that when I was a teen! Mark Greene 4eva SmileSmileSmile

DrGreeneChairLean · 18/04/2018 22:49

@Eighttimeseight the golden hour! Get sat with a brew, a curly wurly and a glorious hour of ER!

SubtitlesOn · 18/04/2018 23:17

They do show a bumper collection on Sunday nights - repeats of previous week shows

SmileSmileSmileSmile

duggiehug · 18/04/2018 23:51

I just shed a little tear at 'Dr Carter' putting on his white coat Grin so over-invested

MargoLovebutter · 19/04/2018 10:51

duggie me too. They did it really well, I felt like a proud mum!!!! ridiculous

SubtitlesOn · 19/04/2018 11:29

Do you think that Benton got/organised it for him?

Or did I mishear what they said before he took it out of the box?

dingdongdigeridoo · 19/04/2018 11:51

I must be getting old because the first time ER aired, Dr Carter was something of a sex symbol among my friends. Now I just feel all motherly towards him. Go Carter!

Ontheboardwalk · 19/04/2018 21:54

“John Carter, M.D.” yep I double checked they said 'Dr Benton left something down here for you' No I’m not crying you are....
