Looking forward to this especially having been a teenager in the 90s about an hour from Derry! Some good cast members also. I haven't even seen a trailer, I don't watch much tv, I take one series of a show at a time so hope it's worthy Grin Anyone else planning on watching?

I like Derry Girls although it reminds me a lot of Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour. Wonder if the writers saw this too...

I'm Co Down as well Vlad, a few years ago our town got a very good looking priest.
He left rather sharpish though 😐

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 19/01/2018 21:03

Probably couldn’t cope with hearing all the young ladies’ confessions about him Grin

Cocolepew · 19/01/2018 21:04

I think he preferred the older ladies Grin

MistressDeeCee · 19/01/2018 21:06

I watched it but it didn't "grab" me really

Haven't seen episode 3 yet but enjoying it up to now. Very excited to realise it was actually filmed in my old school

Shenanagins · 19/01/2018 21:46

Loving it. No problem keeping up with the accents either. And the music takes me back to my youth!

AlmostCrawling · 19/01/2018 21:47

Totally agree about them being like the inbetweeners cast I've been thinking this myself. Erin is Will, Michelle is Jay, Claire is Simon and Orla is Neil. I'm really enjoying it. I agree about Erin's face but it doesn't annoy me I think it's just her character trait.

Elend · 19/01/2018 21:49

I'm in Co Derry and tbf I'm not sure how hot our priest would have been if it wasn't for the fact none of us had ever seen one under 40 and sometimes he swore when he was telling us stories. Anyway, he was always ridin round him when he was drunk so no surprise he's not a priest any more and actually has a wife now 😂

I really love the faces Grin. And they've got the whole convent school nailed- I love the head nun.

Cocolepew · 19/01/2018 22:01

I have a cousin whose dad is (still) a priest Blush

squoosh · 19/01/2018 22:02

The school vibe does feel very real. Reminds me so much of my own dear convent school Grin

TheWitchAndTrevor · 20/01/2018 15:27

Have been laughing every week to this. Not struggling with the accents at all. (I'm English)

I was a teen in the 90s too, and although not a convent school I did go to an old all girls school, I can recognise all the charactersGrin. Michelle is great, and I think the actress has really nail it.

Dh and ds laugh out load to it too.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 20/01/2018 20:28

Oh, we LOVED it. The chip shop episode was our favourite so far. I'm English and did miss the odd line although we have lots of friends from Northern Ireland, including Derry, and have been there more than once. But I think it's fantastic to have a show with such strong young female characters. And older ones too. The headmistress is fabulous, as is the mother. Not to mention Fionnula of course.

Eve · 20/01/2018 20:35

Co Tyrone here, didn’t have a priest or nuns of any sort but girls grammar school so still very relevant.

Finding it better as it goes along.., and don’t think the accents are strong at all.

TheLastUNIC0RN · 20/01/2018 20:40

I'm from Derry and was around their age in the 90s.
I'm really enjoying it. Think it has gotten better as it's gone on. And I definitely knew a few Michelle's in my school!!

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 20/01/2018 20:41

What else has Erin’s Mum been nice? I recognise here.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 20/01/2018 20:41

Nice=in

SamPotatoes · 20/01/2018 21:03

Me and DH love it. Favourite line to date was "you can't go phoning childline everytime your mam threatens to kill you".
Best characters are Michelle and the headmistress.

juneybean · 20/01/2018 21:20

Donny she was in EastEnders but looks nothing like she did.

Independentstateofeyebrows · 20/01/2018 21:32

Made me laugh (ex convent girl here). The head nun is brilliant.
