Derry Girls, anyone planning on watching?

Looking forward to this especially having been a teenager in the 90s about an hour from Derry! Some good cast members also. I haven't even seen a trailer, I don't watch much tv, I take one series of a show at a time so hope it's worthy Anyone else planning on watching?

I’m a bit confused about the Orla character. I don’t recognise her as personality from my teen years. Is she supposed to be high? Or just really dim and wired to the moon?

A bit dim and wired to the moon I think, her mum seems to be just as flakey as orla

It took me until episode 2 to realise that was her Mum! clearly I’m also a bit dim.

Tbf it wasn't clear that was her mum so no not that dim

I'm not sure about it. There were bits that made me laugh but other bits were just a bit OTT but I will keep watching.

I watched the first episode, but that was enough, I don’t think I laughed once - and I have roots close to the area

I enjoyed it but those weird faces Erin keeps pulling are grating.

I love this!! Love all the characters and recognise bits of each from my teen years. Think all the actresses are brill too

Does anyone think it's like an Irish Inbetweeners with girls? Some of the same jokes/mannerisms.

It is a bit yes! I am loving the James character. Brilliantly done. Erin gets more annoying with each episode. This week she is saying “toto” annoyingly.

I think they are meant to be annoying though most teen girl do grate a tad . Oh the girl who plays Claire is 31!

I'm watching Ep3 now and it's making me laugh a lot more than the first 2.

It is kind of similar to the Inbetweeners but not as crude.

Which I’m grateful for I definitely could live the rest of my life without ever hearing the word “clunge” again.

I love it. We also had a hot young priest so I enjoyed this week's episode. And the soundtrack is class. And it's good to know Our Lord doesn't think I'm a dick.

Are we all Irish are from elsewhere? I was wondering if English/Welsh/Scottish are finding the accents and phrases hard to follow?

I'm Northern England. Was absolutely creased at "came up the foyle in a bubble" not struggling with the accents though.

I use that line at home (different river) and my children think it hilarious. You can almost see the cogs working in my youngest’s head trying to picture me in a bubble on the river.

I am Dutch and find it easy enough to follow, really enjoying it, very funny.

The head nun is my favourite character. She does a good line in understated 'Christ, you're a bunch of idiots' facial expressions. Loved all her 'oh do fuck off' eye rolling at the hot priest

Michelle is my favourite from the girls.
