About bloody time too. So looking forward to it. See you in an hour or so. :o

OP posts:

Loved it and cried my eyes out. Looking forward to what Jodie Whittaker can bring to the role. Still not bloody ginger though! Grin

I love PC as an actor but havent enjoyed his tenure as Doctor Who. It hasn't engaged me as much, apart from his last series. If you look at what the Paddington writers did with him in contrast he was a supporting character but had acres more depth and humour than they have managed to do in 3 years of Doctor Who. I'm looking forward to a complete overhaul.

BattleCunt · 26/12/2017 20:30

As a West Yorkshire lass, i am entirely chuffed that Jodie is using her actual accent.

saoirse31 · 26/12/2017 20:35

Completely underwhelming, glad peter capaldis gone, never saw him as convincing Dr, tho scripts were v poor. Remember being v impressed with him in Torchwood as the civil servant...

TwoChristmasDinners · 26/12/2017 21:37

Isn’t Bradley Walsh going to be a new companion?

Oh fuck no! Please soemebody tell me that not true.

That’ll be the end for me and my life long love affair with the doctor.

It’s more like a boring relationship now, I’ve been half heartedly watching the last few seasons, going through the motions.

I’m usually the first to scoff at the people who say everything is ‘pc gone too far’, but between Bill shoving her sexuality down my throat every five minutes (it’s 2017 love, no one cares who you fuck just ffs shut up about it) and the fact companions now seem to be more about filling tick boxes I think I agree with them.

I’ll give Jodie a fair chance.

Not if Bradley is in there baying at her though.

TwoChristmasDinners · 26/12/2017 21:43

Never mind, just googled.

I think I’ll just ignore it from now on. I really hate Bradley Walsh that much.

(Has there ever been a ‘older’ companion, or do we just need one now because the Doctor is a woman and needs a strong male role model Hmm)

specialsubject · 26/12/2017 21:57

There was catherine Tate, and back in 1963 two of the companion were proper adults.

Don't know much about Bradley Walsh but can't be worse than pearl Mackie. Mostly a crap non-character, not her fault, but the mumbling didn't help.

SESthebrave · 26/12/2017 22:00

Can someone tell me how PC Dr got his TARDIS back?

I agree that PC could have been so much better with better writing.

When is the new series airing? Is it not until the autumn?

Looking forward to seeing JW as the Dr.

Gingernaut · 26/12/2017 22:14

He didn't.

The two Doctors relinquished the PC-TARDIS in the Chamber of the Dead as there was still the older version of the first Doctor's TARDIS still on the planet's surface.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 26/12/2017 22:29

Watched it on less wine and actually quite liked it. Am sad to see PC go as do feel he was wasted at times which is a shame. Does give a good speech as well.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 27/12/2017 02:27

The only thing I have seen Bradley Walsh in was the BBC Maestro programme about being a conductor with Sue Perkins, Jane Asher, David Soul, Goldie, Peter Snow and Alex James.

He was absolutely awful - arrogant and ignorant.

abbsisspartacus · 27/12/2017 11:04

I dislike bradley walsh im not looking forward to him

QuiQuaiQuod · 27/12/2017 13:29

Time Lords can regenerate into either male or female

Maybe, but will they ever bring back Romana or the Rani as regenerated MALES? Hmm.

Thay could have done that in the 1st place and left the Doctor Male.

RustyBear · 27/12/2017 15:53

Currently watching the new animation of The Power of the Daleks (the story where One actually regenerates into Two) and one of the first things that happens after he regenerates is that the First Doctor’s ring falls off his finger, just as the Twelfth’s Doctor’s ring fell off Thirteen’s finger.

specialsubject · 27/12/2017 22:11

Ah - so that's what that was about! Thank you.

RustyBear · 28/12/2017 18:25

And Ben thought he couldn’t be the ‘real’ Doctor if his ring didn’t fit...

abbsisspartacus · 28/12/2017 20:29

I dont remember the 12th doctor wearing that kind of ring Confused

iklboo · 28/12/2017 20:36

He definitely wore a ring. It was rumoured it was because Peter Capaldi won't take his wedding ring off.

Xmas Doctor Who is here!
Raisedbyguineapigs · 28/12/2017 20:39

Yes I heard that too iklboo. The signet ring was used to cover PC's wedding ring. Although The Doctor was married to River so Idk why he couldn't wear a wedding ring.

Jux · 28/12/2017 23:23

Perhaps it's not a Gallifreyan custom?

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 28/12/2017 23:43

I don't understand why the time travelling old doctor was so befuddled by our present day

What was the connection with the brigadeer??

RustyBear · 29/12/2017 00:05

The WWI Captain was Captain Archibald Hamish Lethbridge-Stewart, the grandfather of the Brigadier.

Raisedbyguineapigs · 29/12/2017 09:53

No probably not. They had some kind of handfasting ceremony with the bow tie.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/12/2017 10:43

Well, if there was such a thing as real time travellers who could see all of space and time at any given minute, it wouldn't be a problem. But I think the old Dr's sexism was more of nod to the 60's, when the Doctor first appeared and attitudes weren't so enlightened. I think Moffat probably did it as a bit of a fanboy in-joke.

Oh, who is the brigadier?
I missed the last series if he appeared then

Ah that makes sense.
I think he over laboured the point for an in joke though!
Admittedly I haven't watched the old episodes, but surely the doctor didn't spank his assistants on the bottom? At that point it felt like a bad BBC sitcom
A few subtler nods towards sexism would have been much funnier
