Joe was on Lorraine this morning. Bless him - he is a happy bunny. Well done Joe Smile

ChoccyJules · 18/12/2017 09:38

Just heard Joe on the radio, he seems genuinely surprised to have won (yes, I know he's an actor) but one other thing he said made me want to repeat a question by a PP: having been in those West End shows how much of the dance basics would he already have known? He said at the beginning he could barely walk correctly never mind dance - is this another bluff?
I know it makes no difference but am just interested. Then I can get my ringahs in order Wink

ppeatfruit · 18/12/2017 10:07

Yes I did like that he said "We are all winners" On the night. Which they were (apart from him) IMO Xmas Grin

AmericanPastoral · 18/12/2017 10:43

Yes, ChoccyJules. I would like to know, from someone who knows about dance, how much of the dance basics Joe would have known from his musical theatre experience? I think the roles in Chitty and Rent probably had less dance content than what Alex did in Sister Act but surely it's misleading - at best - for Joe to say he started off not knowing his left from his right when he came 3rd in the first show and got a higher score than Aleandra.

Glitterball First part and it's a goodie. Xmas Grin Glitterball

ppeatfruit · 19/12/2017 08:38

Yes it was brilliant thanks Hangry I'm still peeed off about him winning and the more I think about the more annoyed I get. I know I know, I should get out more. It's what it says about the public also the idiot judges..

I'm not an extreme feminist but to give Joe the glitter ball when he wasn't anywhere near the level of the other finalists is an insult to women and is very weird actually. I so agree with Monkseal about that stupid Cinderella dance.

Theromanempire · 19/12/2017 09:52

I was Team Joe but even I admit that I was very disappointed about the show dance. I expected so much more from Katya (and presumably Neil). It says something about the dance when my lasting memory of it was how she turned the dress from short rags to a shimmery lovely dress!

SoupDragon · 19/12/2017 12:00

Not really. At no point are people told to vote for the best dancer, they are told to vote for their favourite. Also, it would be women insulting women as I imagine the majority of voters are female :)

Clawdy · 19/12/2017 13:53

Yes, we all vote for our favourite. Who would think "Oh, I really want Joe to win, but I mustn't vote for him because he's the only man". We're all allowed to vote for who we want!

ppeatfruit · 19/12/2017 15:59

Did I say we weren't Clawdy ? I was commenting on the strangeness of the final result, so was Monkseal, it's allowed I think?

Cherrypi · 19/12/2017 19:45

I think as there were six votes this year lots of people voted for two people to win and that was often Joe and someone meaning Joe won.

TheDrsDocMartens · 19/12/2017 22:15

Usually you get extra votes but they’re spread over the night. I prefer that as many people will have just voted based on their feelings at the end of dance 1.

Mumteadumpty · 19/12/2017 23:28

I just don't understand the point of people having more than one vote. Why do they do this?

morningtoncrescent62 · 20/12/2017 14:18

Ah, Monkseal has excelled himself for his final recap. I love the Man in the Hat driving the tram. And Monkseal's dad, when I got the joke, had me in fits.

I'm going to feel a bit bereft this Saturday evening. It's all wrong that they did it last week - the Strictly final is supposed to be the start of Christmas. Much as I'm looking forward to Whatever Happened to Baby Jane it's not exactly festive froth now, is it?

bonfireheart · 20/12/2017 22:42

Can't sleep so checking the gossip columns - apparently there's rumours that Kevin is seeing Louise Redknapp! The show has messed up so many relationships but 😳

TheSassyAssassin · 20/12/2017 22:57

Wow. Really hoping that isn't true .... Xmas Sad

OP posts:
scrabbler3 · 20/12/2017 23:03

Wow. The gossip rags were implying that Louise was seeing Daisy for a while. They should make up their minds.

Chipstick10 · 20/12/2017 23:55

Karen is in America and Louise is out with Kevin. I’m not feeling so sorry for Kevin, I feel sorry for Jamie and Karen

HangryHanderson · 20/12/2017 23:59

Kevin and Louise were on an evening out WITH OTHER PEOPLE but that won't be as interesting (same as if you see a pic of Gemma and Simon tomorrow minus the 23 other people they're with including his wife)
I had read the story about Jamie ringing Karen to warn her about flirty texts from Lou to Kev and she apparently told him to keep Louise away from her husband as it was ruining her marriage...sounds like complete and utter bollocks but the latest story is clearly doubling down on that.
Someone said recently the accountant who was moving to the US was actually moving with his girlfriend so you have to take all stories with a huge pinch of salt. The sapphic Daisy-Lou concoction was particularly Need A Strictly Curse Story palpable desperation.
All that said, if Kevin and Karen are separated and calling time on their marriage then Kevin can see who he likes (if they do split I want him to get a same age single ringer in September). If they are working on their marriage/repairing it pre tour (although I had also read they were spending Xmas separately with their respective families) then a rebound romance with Louise is perilously heading towards Ross territory (as in WE WERE ON A BREAK won't cut it).
I never saw Kev and Lou have any chemistry though, even in the AT (cue more Friends wisdom c/o Joey - if they have chemistry they ain't doing it, if they don't; they so are cough Pash and Rachel aka Numbers Bitch for Monkseal fans cough

yzzle · 21/12/2017 04:55

I did feel sorry for Kevin during the final, he looked so down while everyone else was partying. Kevin and Louise are the least likely Strictly Curse couple ever, they had no chemistry at all off or on the floor (I actually managed to call Pasha and Rachel! They acted like awkward teenagers in their VTs and then almost went out of their way to not look at each other on the night) plus I have it on reasonably good authority that J has been a prolific cheater for years and yet somehow L has got all the blame for the split

HangryHanderSonOfGod · 21/12/2017 09:35

Yes I heard that too. @yzzle Are you doing the name change comp on Site Stuff? You could change to myzzletoe and wine Xmas Wink Wine

HangryHanderSonOfGod · 21/12/2017 10:06

thanks to Bendymixer over at DSpy:

such lies too yet again - they said she was in a bar with him on Monday - when he was actually in Grimsby with Sue Calman dancing at Clifton Christmas Party, the photo was actually taken at the Cinderella Gala Performance - Kev took Sue Calman and Louise went with her mum the 'friends' they were supposedly drinking with were AJ, Bruno and Susanna Reid - the root of the 'story' was yet again The Sun - such a rag
