Oh Sassy really sorry about the sick on top of everything else. (metaphorically speaking). Hope everyone feels better very soon.

And may I just say (for the final time) .....I am 59!

TheSassyAssassin · 17/12/2017 12:52

I am younger....but look like 159 today if that helps! Xmas Grin Thanks. She's ok at the mo. Don't often drink other than the odd glass so was especially rubbish that she should get sick last night! Ah well... might do Quality Street bingo instead for the Christmas Special Xmas Wink

I wanted Alexandra to win. I'm (slightly) ashamed to say that I still have no idea who Joe and Gemma are.

2rebecca · 17/12/2017 12:55

I didn't vote as watched it late. I think the BBC skew the votes by letting people vote before all the dances have finished. They should have fewer dances and give people longer to vote after they're all done. I had been keen for Joe to win but agree he wasn't as good as the women last night.
The judges lack of enthusiasm is daft considering how many 10s they were giving him last night. If they thought it was a bit average they should have given him fewer points. Debbie and Alexandra were good but they were good from week 1. Agree Gemma was most improved. They should even out the starting standard more.

LIZS · 17/12/2017 13:10

Was this the first year they all had 3 dances rather than eliminated before the third?

Theromanempire · 17/12/2017 13:11

In respect of the one night stand, am fairly sure it was the chef and the finalist. A story was released about 3 days after the ONS story hit the press about how they were exchanging rude messages on the WhatsApp group...papers are known for dropping hints. Hiding in plain sight and all that!

Iprefercoffeetotea · 17/12/2017 13:38

A slight aside - has anyone noticed how bloody Jeanette Manrara and Karen Clifton always manage to get themselves at the front whenever Claudia is doing her links in the dancers pod? They then proceed to try and be funny - gurning at the camera / doing stupid dances etc. I actually want to slap them

I agree. I hope they're not on it next year. And although I think Aston was very unlucky to go out when he did, it was worth it for me to get rid of Janette from the main competition. I hope if she and Karen are in it again next year, they get no-hopers and go out early.

I was happy that Joe won but I would have liked Gemma to win as she was the only one without previous dance experience and had made the most progress since the start.

FuzzyCustard · 17/12/2017 13:46

Completely agree with your aside...Jeanette even made it into BINGO! for doing exactly that. Have some dignity woman!

ocelot41 · 17/12/2017 13:46

Alexandra wuz robbed!!!

mydogisthebest · 17/12/2017 14:17

There is no way the voting figures would be that low.

Agree about Karen and Janette although I do really like Karen. I can't stand Janette though and can't work out what Alijaz sees in her (they make an odd couple too).

I read the couple who had the one night stand were same sex and it was Joe and Craig. I really hope it wasn't Simon and Gemma as Simon is married and I like him

stitchglitched · 17/12/2017 14:31

I really felt for Aston, he was great and my heart sank when he was given Jeanette as a partner. I don't know why she is still given a partner (at least one with any potential) whilst Chloe has been there for 2 years now and not yet given a shot. Same for Neil, I hope he gets a chance next year as he looks fab when he dances.

CassandraCross · 17/12/2017 14:37

Aston was badly let down by Janette with her choreography and teaching of ballroom. That Viennese Waltz was an absolute disaster, if the announcer hadn't said what dance they were doing I'd have been hard pressed to identify it. It's so frustrating because Aston was more than capable of making the Final.

disappearingninepatch · 17/12/2017 14:51

I can forgive Janette's shenanigans as she has made Alijaz very happy. I think being married suits him.

AmericanPastoral · 17/12/2017 16:10

Someone mentioned upthread that they thought they didn’t care who won but were then a bit meh when Joe was announced. This was how I felt. It felt that the programme was tailored to increase the chances of Joe winning – putting him on last, constantly talking about his “journey” and him somehow being a dark horse. (My 7 year old dd said he must be a “bright horse” by now Smile ) I thought Joe seemed like a nice guy – he was the only contestant I heard who thanked the Charleston choreographers – but it was somewhat disingenuous for him to state that he started Strictly not knowing his left foot from his right – this from someone who has been in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Rent on stage?? Can someone with dance experience clarify how much dance training/experience he is likely to have had in these parts? He may not been a “dancer” to start off with but he was surely was far from a beginner? As someone on this thread pointed out, he came 3rd in the first week – and got more points than Alexandra.

AmericanPastoral · 17/12/2017 16:16

Shame to hear about S+G if true. S is married. I did see that they got to know each other through commutting to the north together - maybe that's all there is to it??

CeeBeeBee · 17/12/2017 16:37

S also hugged and kissed G when she went to the Clauditorium.

bonfireheart · 17/12/2017 16:39

Dunno how the rumours went from Gemma and Gorka to Gemma and Simon 😂
I think Katya winning has guaranteed Neil a celeb next year. SCD likes married pro couples, as Kevin & Karen seem no longer to be "the couple" I think Neil and Katya will be pushed forward. Neil has been there for years so obviously has a nice story/connection to the show. Am sure I read that Alijaz and Jeanette are keen to start a family so reckon Chloe might get a celeb next year if Jeanette is pregnant.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 17/12/2017 16:41

I agree, it was bloody cringey

yzzle · 17/12/2017 16:45

Neil probably deserves a partner because he's a better dancer than most if not all of the male pros and has been on the sidelines for a couple of years now, but gosh- Katya's A Lot, but Neil is unbearably irritating. Together they make the Cliftons look like introverts (I hope they're going to be ok, Kevin made me really sad last night hiding at the back of the Clauditorium). I'd definitely give Chloe a shot too. It doesn't seem quite fair that the show has promoted AJ so much and left her behind when they were hired as a couple.

Ropsleybunny · 17/12/2017 16:48

Alexandra was the best by a country mile.

IhaveChillyToes · 17/12/2017 16:50

Perhaps Neil doesn't want a partner for whatever reason be it time during week or doesn't like teaching or isn't confident in teaching or just not like the celebs and prefers teaching children or couples at dance classes in his local dance school

numbereightyone · 17/12/2017 16:51

Doesn't Neil do a lot of the group choreography?
