Worth starting grey's anatomy?

Mrsknackered · 07/12/2017 23:31

Never watched an episode in my life and have absolutely no idea what to watch. Is it worth starting from the very beginning?

(I'm up with a poorly baby and likely to be the second night of sofa cuddles)

Also open to other suggestions I have Netflix and sky box sets. I love crime documentaries and dramas like The good wife, Luther, House, happy valley, silk, etc.

Oh yaaaaas watch it there are 14 seasons and it is fabulous, addictive, junk. They all over act horribly, especially Owen Hunt, but you'll soon be sobbing with the rest of us.

Season 14 has ground to a halt so I've just gone back to the beginning of House.

Is Meredith meant to grate a bit? I feel like any series by Rhonda the main woman is quite annoying. Olivia Pope, Viola Davis's character (can't remember her name and don't want to google incase I come across a spoiler) in HTGAWM and now Meredith!

Do it. I binge watched the first 11 seasons. I love it, also the music is fab and has led me to lots of new groups and singers.

littlepinkgiraffe · 08/12/2017 21:51

Do it! But get ready to say goodbye to any communication with other people / the outside world.

I've binged it several times now. Currently watching the new season which so far is fab.

DottyDotAgain · 08/12/2017 21:53

Oh god Yes! I binge watched it as well, earlier this year when I was off sick for a few weeks - absolutely love it and am watching the latest series now!

ibuythedailymailtowipemybumon · 08/12/2017 21:54

Ah fond memories of watching House boxsets on maternity leave.
Have you tried Suits?

littlepinkgiraffe · 08/12/2017 21:56

Meredith did irritate me at times but I'm a firm Mer lover now. Izzy on the other hand - I cannot stand! You may also be pleased to know that Cyrus from scandal appears in greys too.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 08/12/2017 21:57

I am so envious of anyone at the start of grey's anatomy. I loved it and have binge watched it twice. I'm currently watching season 14 on sky.

Great series. Although series 13vwas a bit shit.

StoorieHoose · 08/12/2017 21:58

YES! I managed the first 5 seasons in 20 days! Up to season 8 at the moment and wondering why I waited so long to watch it

Nyx1 · 09/12/2017 12:26

Stoorie "YES! I managed the first 5 seasons in 20 days! "

woah!! that is bingeing.

I think the earlier seasons had more humour, which I really enjoyed.

I watched the first episode of Scandal and decided it wasn't for me.

StoorieHoose · 09/12/2017 12:30

I have calmed down slightly with the bingeing and got back to normal
life now ;) Izzy is terribly irritating but my favourite is Christina and Owen. Patrick Dempsey is good eye candy and has been since Can’t Buy Me Love

anonymousity · 09/12/2017 12:34

One of the best shows on tv. Missed the beginning of season 14 and I'm gutted....

pastabest · 09/12/2017 12:34

You will be busy with greys for a while if you have started, but if you haven’t watched it yet gossip girl (Netflix) is possibly worth a watch

Have you watched orange is the new black yet either?

No offence on all 4 is good too

GreySloanMemorial · 09/12/2017 12:34

Yes!! Quickly became my favourite TV show ever after binging only 2 or 3 seasons

Nyx1 · 09/12/2017 13:47

Yes, Izzy is irritating.

Christina is my favourite by a mile.

InternetHoopJumper · 09/12/2017 15:04

Watched a few episodes, but couldn't stand it. Two seniors doctors abuse their position to have sex with interns. It's basically if you accept what Bill Clinton did to Monica Lewinsky as a romantic ideal.

Now if you loved Scandal, you really need to check out How to Get Away with Murder. Viola Davis is absolutely killing it. She shows such an emotional range in this show and it has made me a fan of hers. The show is really awesome, though the pilot episode is a bit deceptive in what the show turns out to be. I can also recommend Greenleaf.

Mrsknackered · 09/12/2017 16:35

pasta I love No Offence and OITNB.
Never managed to get into Gossip Girl not sure why, I loved 90210 and the OC.

InternetHoop I love How to get away! Although I do wish Viola would wipe her nose more often. I have watched season 3 yet, I'm recording it so I can do it all in one (or a few go's) I hate having to wait a week for episodes, I've kind of given up on TWD for that reason.

Never heard of Greenleaf, will have a google!

Brothers and sisters and Nip Tuck are older but great

InternetHoopJumper · 09/12/2017 20:02

OP, Greenleaf is on Netflix and it's an Oprah show. They also got Queen Sugar, but I have seen only a few episodes so far, because I am having difficulties getting a hold of it.

ElephantsandTigers · 09/12/2017 20:04

Watch from the beginning. Enjoy McDreamy and Mc Steamy. I've asked for series 13 for Christmas and I'm looking forward to watching it all again.

ElephantsandTigers · 09/12/2017 20:07

Has anyone else seen Private Practice? I'll give it another go but dh wasn't keen.

Nyx1 · 09/12/2017 20:42

I've seen a few episodes of Private Practice, thought it was quite good. But I'm a sucker for a sunny setting and it was more relaxing, obviously, without constant emergency room stuff.

must watch the rest of it - I got the DVD of Season 1. No idea how many seasons there are though.

ladymelbourne1926 · 09/12/2017 21:45

Another here who binge watched GA a few years ago with newborn, Really enjoyed it and Still watch it.
Couldn't get into private practice though.
And yep Meredith did grate for a while the first season, but I grew to like the character,
