Hello PWBs, Lurkers and anyone else who is remotely interested.

Just read the first article I've seen about the January CBB - apparently they are starting off with all women.

Didn't they do this before or has reality TV made me imagine things?

Will anyone be watching this time???

I wonder if somewhere in the female subconcious, the brain cant stop the information that a transexual was born a male, as part of a primal/fight/flight instinct. So when you're not thinking conciously your brain is still defaulted that the person is male to keep you on alert from threat.
Sorry I'm not really explaining that very well.

Craftylady28 · 06/01/2018 12:30

Does anyone think Jess is like a NICE version of Jemma Lucy - she reminds me of her to look at, and sounds a bit like her too. I'm surprised how much I am liking her. Even when she asked Ann for a chat on politics as she said she didnt know enough about it, very endearing and also intelligent thinking to care enough to be educated.

bambambini · 06/01/2018 12:32

It was the edited shots of all the women’s faces as India kicked off. 🙁

India is coming off very badly (understatement) and is doing the trans community no favours - but they really need to leave, I don’t know if they’ll be able to turn this round. It can’t be good for their mental health. I’ve seen it before when everyone turns on someone for being an arse. I laugh and think “you utter arse!” Then start worrying and feeling sorry for having to deal with the public hating you.

QueenLaBeefah · 06/01/2018 12:33

India is a huge BB fan and has also worked in the media her entire career. She knew what she was signing up for but her towering narcissism is her downfall.

FoxSticks · 06/01/2018 12:35

I think IW's biggest mistake was going for Amanda. Especially as IW's reaction seemed very contrived and not at all natural. It seems really obvious that Amanda would be popular so targeting her seems a bad move.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 06/01/2018 12:47

i loved Amanda no platforming India by basically saying 'i've apologised, i will leave the house' which took the wind out of India's sails.

suspect she was rather hoping to get a platform to wah wah about being misgendered.

bambambini · 06/01/2018 12:57

I know about targeting Amanda, why didn’t she go for a much more divisive perdon like Ann or even Rachel.

Feel sorry for India’s son having to deal with all this.

BeyondWW · 06/01/2018 12:58

Wonder if anyone can help here... India referenced playing football (professionally??) in India's entry VT, but India's wiki page has currently been deleted so I can't check there, and all of the newspaper articles I can find about India's history are somewhat sycophantic and only vaguely refer to life pre-India.
Does anyone know if I heard correctly, and what team India played for if I did? I wondered if India was in the youth system but never played for a pro team, or something like that?

WaggyMama · 06/01/2018 12:59

May I join you?

I usually just lurk on here but this years CBB has got us all talking - even my DH is watching it.

I was always irritated by Amanda Barrie but now I think she is lovely - especially for her age. Always loved Ann too, and Wayne Sleep - I hope he pirouettes to the final.

HemlockSpartacus · 06/01/2018 13:00

bam Probably because India figured Ann and Rachel wouldn't bow down, but though Amanda could be forced to grovel for forgiveness. Misjudged that one.

Thehairthebod · 06/01/2018 13:02

Frankly, I think IW has deliberately set out to cause a stooshie that results in someone being thrown out for being a hater/phobic, to further IW's cause and career.'

Yes! Remember Jade Goody/Jo O' Meara and the Shilpa Shetty racism thing? Although SS was very gracious about it all actually.

I think IW has some vision of being so terribly oppressed in the house, and the more she makes it clear how upsetting it is, the more sympathy she will get. And she will emerge from the house victorious, as a champion for trans people, and validated as a real woman.

Meanwhile all those awful transphobic 'cis' women will come out hated by all with their careers in tatters, which is no more than they deserve for their 'privilege'.

It might not work out like that...

ThePinkPanter · 06/01/2018 13:05

I'm a bit late to the party but enjoying the series so far.

Dowser · 06/01/2018 13:10

I would love to be a fly on the wall in that house just after the men came in and today.
I imagine the men will be quite bright and bubbly as it’s all new to them. Wayne and Amanda will have had a few cosy tete a tetes.
The younger women will be chatting to the younger men.
The older women will be feeling relieved that they are not having to walk on eggshells now the spotlight is off India.
Courtney will be having them in stitches

What do you think is happening

QueenLaBeefah · 06/01/2018 13:11

I think you are definitely onto something with the Shelpa Shetty/Jade Goodie thing. India probably thinks she will emerge from the house as some sort of national hero but it does seem to be back firing in a big way.

Dowser · 06/01/2018 13:12

I thought the shills shetty thing was jade goody and that woman the media are always trying to foist on us...Danielle Lloyd

CisCucumber · 06/01/2018 13:19

The whole misgendering is problematic
IW is a man. They are only a woman if you subscribe to gender as the marker to differentiate between male and female
IW can shout and tantrum but cannot change their sex. All the women in the house know that is a biological man so it is easy to slip up and say he

BeyondWW · 06/01/2018 13:44

Yy cis. I'm very uncomfortable with the idea that if they didn't call India "she" intentionally, they could potentially be thrown out. India is not a female - does not even look, act, or subconsciously come across as one. It's gaslighting.

Oh and I feel I should mention it. In a strop I might say "let that sink it" - I would not say "let that penetrate". Very umm.. phallic imagery there.

SoleBizzz · 06/01/2018 13:49

Welcome Waggy 😉 thank you for joining us.

Dowser · 06/01/2018 13:54

Going to show my ignorance here...what is a cis woman

BeyondWW · 06/01/2018 13:56

"Cis" - identifies with the repressive stereotypical idea of "woman" which correlates with their biology. Likes pink dresses and fluffy kittens. Used by transactivists to assume all women who aren't trans, usually in a negative fashion ie "die Cis scum" though they claim it is merely a description.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 06/01/2018 14:25

Oh no Dowser you are about to enter the twilight zone!

Thehairthebod · 06/01/2018 14:42

A cis woman is basically a biological woman ie, a woman who has never been a man.

However, many people find the use of cis offensive because
a) it unnecessarily re-labels women to fit a subset of men - 'woman' and 'transwoman' is enough to show a difference
b) 'cis', when used as 'your gender matching your biological sex', 'implies that if you don't identify as trans then you accept the gender ideas imposed on you by society.

bambambini · 06/01/2018 15:13

Cis? It’s an attempt to redefine the word “woman” so that a woman is no longer an adult human female but just an identity. So you’d have “woman” as a group that anyone can identify into no matter their sex, what they look like, what genitsls they have. Eithin the group “woman” - you’d have on equal oegging cis women and trans women. Some people really think this is progress and some don’t. 2 different belief systems.

misspetite · 06/01/2018 15:40

I think IW is hoping the public will believe she's being bullied by fellow housemates and therefore win sympathy, which is wrong. She's playing this wrong.
First to be evicted, I'm afraid.

MsGameandWatching · 06/01/2018 15:44

I'm kind of hoping he won't be first out. Oh the whining about transphobia that will ensue 😩
