German subtitled 10 parter released today. Have just watched the first 3 episodes and am hooked. Cross between Stranger Things, Les Revenant and Twin Peaks. I was mildly irritated by the wilful oddness of it at first but episode 3 is very very good and unlike anything I have ever seen before.

Please people watch, I’m dying to discuss!!

Yes cheesy I thought the same with that. Also a couple of other niggles that I can't remember at the moment (the perils of binge watching) but overall I really enjoyed.

Controversial opinion but I thought it was far, far better than Stranger Things.

TheCowWentMoo · 05/12/2017 17:07

I'm on episode 3, I'm enjoying it but getting so confused about all the characters, so many people acting strangely and I can't remember who's who

Rollergirl11 · 06/12/2017 13:43

We have one more episode left to go. I can’t see how it will tie everything up with the time left, although saying that it moves at a fair pace that’s for sure. There are some truly horrible characters in this. I think Jonas is the only likeable person.

Still can’t work out who hooded guy is but think Courtney might be right. I hope you find out who Noah actually is. I’m guessing something catastrophic is about to happen in 2019 with the plant ans that is what hooded guy from the future is trying to stop.

I can’t believe that there hasn’t been more interest in this series on here. I think it’s quite possibly the best thing I’ve watched in a long time. Agree it blows Stranger Things out of the water, albeit being very different. It is totally awesome!!

I think you do, unless I've misunderstood it. Maybe we should start a spoiler thread to discuss it when you've finished.

cheesydoesit · 06/12/2017 14:33

I finished it today and I've just started watching it again knowing what I now know. I agree, it's so good. I hope there is a second series.

cheesydoesit · 06/12/2017 14:35

I actually wrote a little family tree out of the characters as I was watching it! Blush Grin It did help!

Rollergirl11 · 12/12/2017 18:37

I watched the last episode and was a bit disappointed. I guess it’s left open for another series but I was hoping to get a few more answers.

I still don’t know who Noah is. I don’t really understand his motives for creating a time machine given that he seems to be able to travel back and forth through time effortlessly without one.

I can't remember much now it's been a week which doesn't bode well for S2, but I thought Noah was B as he gave him the book in the car.

Also, what did Hotel Lady mean when she said 'your kids don't know the truth about themselves' (or words to that effect) after the fight with Katherina (?). I thought it might've meant they weren't hers as they made a point of showing her saying she didn't want kids when she was about to sleep with Ulrich, but that wouldn't really make sense. Did I miss what she meant?

Rollergirl11 · 13/12/2017 19:02

Oh. I didn’t pick up on that at all. I thought he was just recruiting B in to Helge’s role as his assistant. If B is Noah that would mean that Claudia is his grandmother too. I got the impression that Claudia is his nemesis which makes it unlikely that she would be his Gran?

I thought Hotel lady (can’t remember her name!) said your kids don’t know the truth about their parents, meaning that they are horrible individuals that bullied and abused her when they were young. But I could be wrong about that!

OP posts:
Rollergirl11 · 13/12/2017 19:18

Regina is the name of Hotel lady!

I thought this was great. Although, I am quite disturbed as I keep seeing all those retro foxes everywhere I go shopping!
Season 2 could be good as I confused myself near the end and was overthinking everything.

TheSecondOfHerName · 16/12/2017 10:37

I've watched two episodes. Hate the dubbing so will try with subtitles.

Andylion · 22/12/2017 03:24

I just finished this. I thought I was very good, but I, too, had some difficulty remembering who was who.
There will be a second season.

I was gripped by this too but found the last ep strangely unsatisfying. I'll definitely give S2 a chance though.

It's marvellously grim. The sun hasn't shone once!! Smile

laudanum · 22/12/2017 04:40

IT'S SO GOOD.

wtffgs · 22/12/2017 06:52

Any links to an idiots' guide would be welcome Grin

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/12/2017 09:33

I'm finding it much easier to follow with subtitles. Just watched episode 5.

Katarina (head teacher) and Ulrich (police officer) have three children: Magnus, Martha and Mikkel.

Hannah and the recently deceased Michael have one child: Jonas.

Charlotte (police officer) and her husband (psychiatrist) have two children: Francesca (red hair) and Elizabeth. Helge (man in old people's home) is the psychiatrist's dad.

Martha is going out with Bartoz but used to have a thing with Jonas. Their friend Erik (orange hair) disappeared two weeks ago.

Katarina, Ulrich and Hannah all knew each other since school.

Charlotte and Regina (hotel owner) also grew up in that town.

Some of the spellings of the names may be wrong, and I can't remember the psychiatrist's name.

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/12/2017 09:39

This page contains multiple spoilers. It also contains tables showing exactly who is who.

BeyondAssignation · 22/12/2017 09:44

Finished it and loved it. Looking forward to S2.

Wish I'd thought to draw little family trees as I kept forgetting who was related to who too
(And yes to preferring subtitles, I hate dubbing)

laudanum · 22/12/2017 18:06

I don't think it blows Stranger Things out of the water, it's just different, but the nostalgia I'm getting from the music in both shows is brilliant. I saw someone on twitter refer to it as 'Darker Things' because of the music and period similarity. Either way, I can't wait for season two.

AnyFucker · 22/12/2017 18:09

.

RockNRollNerd · 23/12/2017 13:31

I'm just dropping in after the first page as we're watching the final two episodes tonight - I insisted we have to finish them before family descend for a couple of nights.

DH most amused that when we're watching I mutter occasionally in German - I used to live there and seemingly if I'm listening to German I switch into German mode Xmas Grin

wtffgs · 24/12/2017 16:18

Danke schön!Smile

ProfYaffle · 24/12/2017 16:23

We finished watching the other week. Really enjoyed it after nearly turning the first episode off due to the weird dubbing. Now gutted to realised we could have had subtitles instead!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/12/2017 21:40

DD tells me I have to watch this, and now I will.
