What a dick the Dad is.
'I nearly copped off with my employee...it's because I'm so stressed out watching my wife run around like a blue arsed fly caring for my disabled child - poor me. '

This has got better. I think the producer/director (I'm never clear exactly who does what) is fine most of the time but has a liking for cliches and mawkish sentimentality. I love C Ecclestone, but was disappointed they spoiled one of the rare fictional portrayals of a fell race to have a sentimental moment, seriously no-one pauses near the end of a race to examine their navel and the view. There are some great comic moments and lines in it, they just need to avoid the desire to be twee and cosy, or do the "let's spoil this pivotal moment by having someone burst in to spin it all out longer than necessary" plot cliche.
Alison is still annoying but Nicola is less so.

I can't remember their names but for some reason I don't like the boys dad at all.

He's a man boy. They're both self obsessed although she likes being a martyr as well. Amazed their daughter came out OK although she feels manipulated in to staying because her parents are too dysfunctional to cope with Joe and normal life.

I can't stand the Alison character in fact DH refuses to watch it with me now cos l keep shouting at the screen. Think it's because lve known women like her in the workplace mainly but just 'eyes and teeth' types ,smiley faced but false and controlling behind it. I also hate the way she is never spontaneous as in 'ooh let's ha e fun now between two and quarter past' so l totally got it with Paul when he said about the egg timer. Really can't t warm to her at all and was hoping he would go ahead with his 'moment' . I think that maybe happened because Sophie was/is spontaneous and more 'real'

This series has grown on me. The Dad is a twit. And the Mum is slightly annoying but I’m enjoying it more than season 1.

I Ive the grandad. He's very PI I rounder if he gets to write some of his own lines?

cricketballs3 · 05/12/2017 22:07

for me (wiping the tears away) tonight's episode was the perfect explanation of how it feels to be a parent.

I understood perfectly both Alison and Paul's perspectives and it gave a clear picture of the emotions/frustrations that parents undergo - I have been in both of their worlds tonight and both the videos that were filmed of Joe shows clearly the focus that parents bounce around every minute of every day, one second it is the autism that is the focus, the next it is the child

For a clear understanding of the emotionally rollercoaster this was the perfect piece of drama

Tonight's episode had me in pieces too. As a parent of an autistic child I think it highlighted the swinging between acceptance and struggling with the diagnosis.

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 05/12/2017 22:14

Very emotional tonight

notgivingin789 · 05/12/2017 23:52

Tonight's episode hit home Sad.

It actually reminded me of when I recently looked at a video of DS (the one I took of when he was much younger and when I was over-obsessing about his Autistic traits). The video was of him stimming happily away. I was laughing of joy as DS looked so cute but back then, when I took the video, I was heartbroken, shocked, confused. I wish I could turn back time and accepted DS for who he is and enjoyed him more.

MayorOfOz · 06/12/2017 04:38

Notgiving that's just how I feel too...

WanderingTrolley1 · 07/12/2017 01:21

I really like this series.
