Omg!
Poor bob
Hated that episode with the punks - what was that? I got the feeling it was some reference to some 80s classic film but it went over my head

that was just perfect. And Detectorists is back on tomorrow. We're a lucky bunch

I have just finished season 1 again. Have already watched season 2 but felt I wanted to binge back to front.

I love it all. I liked the evolution of Steve’s character. He did redeem himself in the last two eps of s1.

I missed the songs in s2. I think there was more original soundtrack and fewer actual songs?

I have three sons and sometimes it just makes me want to hug all the boys. I cried when they rescued Will Blush. Such a sad little face Sad

The Duffers have said they think four seasons will be their limit.

Just watched last 2 episodes last night with DS.

He reminded me -lots of Goonies references- including Bob (Sean Astin) who was in the Goonies as a child actually saying a Goonies line about the X on the map being for pirate treasure.

Lots of homage to ET-the bicycle scene being a big one, and the walk along the train tracks very Stand by Me.

DS also thinks the bit where El comes into the Snow Ball was like Pretty in Pink.

Think all the clever references fab-and definitely a labour of love from the Duffer Brothers.

I thought a couple of the plot lines were a bit unsatisfactorily inserted-the whole Eight thing-I get why they did it but thought the episode jarred the flow of the series.

Not sure where the stuff with Billy a bit Confused but maybe we will see why later. Maybe just to add to Steve's characters fall from Mr Cool to Dustin mentor. (also-Billy was the name of Rob Lowe's character in St Elmo's Fire)

Overall fantastic and look forward with interest to Series 3.....

Did everyone know that Jonathan and Eleven are both English? I've been watching clips of Millie Bobby Brown on the Ellen show on YouTube. It's blown my tiny mind.

Didn't see the point of Max and her awful brother.
I would climb Hopper like a tree.

AdalindSchade · 11/11/2017 17:04

Yes though Millie has a weird transatlantic accent. Jonathan was barred from entering the US recently due to a drugs thing I think

Hopper is going to be the new Hellboy.

MrsDc7 · 11/11/2017 17:11

Omg I was gutted for Bob!

CaptainHammer · 12/11/2017 11:39

Just finished the second series and I enjoyed it. Really sad about Bob though.

@mrwalkensir Thank you! I hadn’t seen it was back on, very happy now!

WhoWants2Know · 14/11/2017 16:41

I just finished, and want to start over again from the beginning. I hated watching Bob because you could tell that he wasn’t going to make it.

I can also see that Billy is going to be important. He reminds me of Henry Bowers from IT, in the way his father’s battering has pushed him to the border of tough and crazy. I think his warnings about Lucas weren’t necessarily inspired by his own racism, but by knowing what would happen if his dad found out Max was seeing a black boy.

Andylion · 14/11/2017 17:37

I just put on ep 3, and fast forwarded to Hopper dancing to Jim Croce.

They've announced today they're filming 3 & 4 back to back and 3 will be out 'late 2018'

GwenStaceyRocks · 17/11/2017 19:40

I just watched this today. So sad about Bob Sad
I love that most of the teen characters have ended up being nice people eg Nancy and Steve helping Dustin. I hope they bring in a romantic interest for Steve next season. He is a sweetheart.

I have taken a dislike to Hopper since he did a big political speech at one of the awards' ceremonies. Not that I disagreed with the politics but it felt as though he pushed everyone else out to make 'his' point so now I see him as a bit of an egotistical narcissist.

I'm getting War of the Worlds. Not 80,s but still.

Also Mike looks like the chap from Flight of the Navigator.

Absolutely loving both series.

Chimichangaz · 30/12/2017 22:56

Just finished watching this, over three days. Loved it. Recognised the doctor as being from Aliens and loved the Aliens homage with the guys going in to fight. So many fab references to classics!

Didn't recognise Bob as being Sam Gamgee from the Hobbit! Disliked Billy - a lot - but have some sympathy after seeing his dad being abusive Sad

Don't know what Nancy sees in Jonathan tbh but lovely of her to dance with and be so kind to Dustin. Really liked Hopper but think it would be like kissing an ashtray Sad

Anyone else wonder about how free the 80s kids were to wander town at will and stay out all night? Confused
