Fizz first please. And everyone related to her.

Actually he's going to have get Andy to start digging out an extension to fit them all in.

Why does Adam care so much about Rita?
He doesn't generally care about others (other than Eva) so it's a bit out of character

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 03/11/2017 21:02

Craig misremembered the time when he was giving evidence in bethany’s/Nathan’s Trial. He said PM instead of AM and beat himself up about it reall badly afterwards thinking he had ruined the chances of a guilty verdict. Ever since he has been obsessively checking the time and sits frozen watching the clock.

ChevalierTialys · 03/11/2017 21:34

Anna's being pretty unreasonable about the Seb-moving-in thing. She jumped straight to the conclusion that it was because of the HIV but frankly, I wouldn't want ANY random teen moving into my house on a whim, HIV or not!

lizzieoak · 03/11/2017 21:35

Do they really have to cram every issue under the sun into Corrie? Craig has OCD from the court thing? Ffs. Do they have so little faith in the viewers and the characters that they think people will only watch if they can think “ooh, he’s just like my grandad, sister, cousin’s dog”?

ChevalierTialys · 03/11/2017 21:36

And for gods sake can sinead and chesney start shoeing some vloody empathy for joseph! He's a little boys who's mummy has just died!!

ChevalierTialys · 03/11/2017 21:37

Apologies. I've already finished a bottle Wine

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/11/2017 21:38

I expect the HIV will be forgotten like all the other illnesses and life-changing medical issues everyone else has...

Creamswirls · 03/11/2017 21:42

Don’t forget the “PND” Hmm

eddiemairswife · 03/11/2017 22:01

Does Sophie live at Kevin's or Sally's?

Mary, Angie, Jude, Norris at The Rovers, have they forgotten someone? Oh yes! Baby George.

HIVpos · 03/11/2017 22:45

I agree there are a lot of silly and depressing storylines going on at the moment (I've watched Corrie for years)

However there are a lot of people like me with a vested interest in the HIV storyline in raising awareness of it and the fact it is a perfectly manageable condition today - and the fact anyone can get it.

The fact that there haven't actually been that many comments - or querying anything said about it so far either means you aren't interested, or already know the facts - which is great Grin and just shows how little i knew before I became infected earlier this year Sad

I would urge those that don't know much about it to watch it though....you never know, you might learn something Smile

Clawdy · 03/11/2017 22:49

Why are the two policemen like a pair of thuggish bouncers in a rough nightclub?

Viviennemary · 03/11/2017 22:56

Unlike Craig and his sidekick who are like two coppers out of a Carry on film. Ah Bless.

woodhill · 03/11/2017 23:51

Wouldn't someone see Anna in the solicitor's office if she was supposedly there i.e. The staff - stupid story and how would she had found him on floor, called ambulance etc

Akire · 04/11/2017 00:04

Instead of kicking the ladder Anna supposed to have gone into office. Climbed up first floor opened window and pushed him off? Without anyone seeing her?

So the police haven't asked Rosie about visitors to the office or who may own the earring?

True pos hope you are adjusting ok following your diagnosis, I work in sexual health promotion and would echo your words I think handled correctly it would be a good story I worry if Corrie is capable of doing it justice right now though the quality is shocking.
I won't bother watching last nights they sound awful

HIVpos · 04/11/2017 10:46

@Wishfulmakeupping you should watch last night's episode - the first one anyway with the nurse giving the diagnosis to Seb & Faye.

THT has worked alongside Corrie to try to get this across effectively and so far so good (crap acting notwithstanding Smile). There was also mentioned a link to their website at itv.com/advice at the end of the programme.

There is also a survey knocking about re women living with HIV from Sofia Forum (Invisible no longer) - also one for women NOT living with HIV. However I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to post the link here Hmm

Last year 24% of all HIV diagnoses in the UK were women, of which almost half were diagnosed late (ie they didn't know they had it). When I was diagnosed earlier this year I started a thread on MN www.mumsnet.com/Talk/relationships/2942589-Getting-back-in-the-saddle-and-HIV to try to raise awareness - also to help me - and everyone was amazing in their response for which I thank all those who posted. It's not a fun thing to get, made possibly worse if you are living unknowingly with it and are not aware of the risks or advances made.

scrabbler3 · 04/11/2017 11:07

I'm not sure that the current crop of writers will do the HIV storyline justice.

In the old episodes currently airing, Hlda Ogden is hosting an unmarried Sally and Kev, and is watching out for nocturnal shenanigans (Kev is sleeping downstairs, Sally upstairs). Last night, it was Sally talking about monitoring Fay and Seb, 30 years later. And she used to think that Mrs Ogden was being soooo unfair!

SilenceMeansWhatAreTheyUpTo · 04/11/2017 11:16

Wishing you the very best pos, it must have been a dreadful shock and I hope your treatment continues to go well. There is so much research going on at the moment in the field of autoimmune conditions so we have to keep hoping.

However, as far as Corrie's treatment of it is concerned, I wouldn't hold my breath. Soaps are very good at raising awareness and highlighting issues for dramatic effect, and then dropping them as soon as another storyline comes along. I have MS and was therefore fascinated to see how Johnnie's story would pan out, but apart from a few stumbles and trouble doing up buttons (I had him diagnosed in seconds!) we never got to hear what treatment he is receiving to have made such a miraculous recovery. The dramatic tension came from him breaking off his engagement to Jenny as he didn't want her to have to care for an "invalid", but such an outcome is by no means inevitable with modern disease-modifying therapies, a point which may or may not have been made - I can't remember now. However, whatever he's taking, he would still have some symptoms and would still need regular scans and checkups. And then there's Izzy whose EDS got so bad at one point that she resorted to illegal cannabis to relieve her symptoms. In real life it wouldn't be a case of "learning her lesson and moving on" - those symptoms would still be very much there. I'm sure there are other examples of the show going to a great deal of trouble to research an issue and then dropping it once it's "done", when in real life the problems and the impact they have on people's lives don't simply go away. Hmm

SilenceMeansWhatAreTheyUpTo · 04/11/2017 11:17

Scrabbler Grin

Wormulonian · 04/11/2017 11:41

I agree with what everyone has said about how badly "issues" are dealt with and then forgotten about. Steve's "depression" was another fiasco. As for trouser smell fireman's wife's early onset dementia and his Eileen affair - words fail me. The soap always claim they are working closely with the leading charity and will portray things in a realistic and sympathetic manner but they don't. I would have thought the Izzy actress would be angry about how her pain storyline has been dropped and minimalised. Why has Izzy not been to see Joseph? She very rarely appears nowadays.

The hoover Sophie used was not even exclusively used in the solicitors office. How was Anna meant to have got in at the time of Seb's fall if no one was in the office?

HIVpos · 04/11/2017 11:41

Silence you are right and storylines either have little/no attention paid to them by viewers if they are not relevant, or are soon forgotten in favour of the next revelation. I paid no attention at all to when Val Pollard got it in Emmerdale as to the detail.

I hope you are coping well with your diagnosis Flowers.

I became UD (non infectious) 1 month after starting meds, but the mental impact is something else...and the thought of dating and finding someone who might/will be ok with it is tough.

[Scrabbler] Grin I am a lot more flexible with my DDs (they are over 18) than my parents were with me - but then I talk openly about stuff to them more - and they are way more aware of STIs then I ever was at their age. I am forever saying "stay safe" to them and they are forever saying "oh Muuuum" to me Smile

Anyway, hopefully they will correct more misconceptions around it before it disappears off the radar. As seen elsewhere not on MN, there are a lot who think you can catch it by kissing, or sharing someone's drink for example

eddiemairswife · 04/11/2017 12:07

Does Faye now live with Sally and Tim? Why else would Tim be awake keeping watch if Seb goes to stay there?
