It will be about James the teacher carving a life for himself in the spare room. It has been 4 years and Gemma is unaware he's still in the house

Dr Foster series 3?
OP posts:
PhelanGood · 04/10/2017 10:00

Utterly deflated. Why do writers sacrifice a story just to cash in on another series? They have made a mistake in this. At the very least I'd have liked to see Tom safe, maybe with Anna in Edinburgh, living the stable life he deserves. Waiting two years to find out what happens next doesn't appeal, my interest has finally fizzled out due to disappointment in the writing. It promised more than it delivered.

squoosh · 04/10/2017 10:31

It was like they got a different writer to do each episode without telling them what the previous episode had been about, nothing seemed tied in. I thought the blonde doctor colleague would play a vital role but it’s as though they forgot about her after the second episode.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/10/2017 10:33

They also forgot the storyline with the hypochondriac patient, that was going somewhere then wasn't!

squoosh · 04/10/2017 10:41

Yes, him too!

PrimalLass · 04/10/2017 10:45

It's a shame it went bonkers.

mumdebump · 04/10/2017 10:54

Haven’t started watching series 2 yet. Is it that bad? Shall I save myself 5 or 6 hours of life by not bothering?

PrimalLass · 04/10/2017 12:08

I would skip it.

MusicToMyEars800 · 04/10/2017 12:12

Her mad behaviour has rubbed off so much on James he is still in the bedroom, Sat in the wardrobe rocking with the earrings.

It is rumoured there will be a series 3 that carries on showing the fallout of cheating and family breakup, But it will focus on Tom as a young adult and how he has been affected.

PurpleChai · 04/10/2017 12:13

Gemma’s blue Hyundai deserves a BAFTA nomination considering it’s in every other scene and was probably the least batshit thing in the second series Hmm

MusicToMyEars800 · 04/10/2017 12:14

mum If you watch it you will spend a lot of tie cringing and shouting at the TV Grin

girlingerrupting · 04/10/2017 12:29

I did cringe and think it was batshit but I did also feel that I needed to watch it. Is that terrible.

EnidButton · 04/10/2017 13:54

I think the hypochondriac patient was supposed to be funny. Like light relief. Because mental illness is hilarious. 🙄

They tried it with Ros in series 1 but it desperately didn't work. I did laugh at her thanking Gemma for being her bridesmaid and it being a shame she missed the reception. Like it's totally fine the chief bridesmaid fucked off the second they stepped out of the church.

EnidButton · 04/10/2017 13:55

And I did not like those earrings. Did James buy them in Claire's?

squoosh · 04/10/2017 13:57

The earrings were totally fug.

FiaMarrow · 04/10/2017 14:17

I think the earrings were meant to be ugly, they were obviously not her style so it was a clumsy "oh look how incompatible they are" flag

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 04/10/2017 14:38

"Gemma’s blue Hyundai deserves a BAFTA nomination considering it’s in every other scene and was probably the least batshit thing in the second series..."

Grin
EnidButton · 04/10/2017 14:38

Ah. Makes sense Fia. She did shove them back in the box very quickly.

intimeandspace · 04/10/2017 15:00

Ooooh - glad I've found you all again- I started a new bread in panic when there last one died at the 1000 posting mark! I had to watch in catch-up last night. What an absolutely GRIM waste of time. I think we should script them a third series on Mumsnet.
I've moved on from the "James is Old Man Steptoe" post by MargotLoves. I thought there was a definite air of Jeremy Corbyn in his gait last night.
Cannot believe we watched an hour of what was essentially child abuse! Gaaaaaaaah.

alltalknobaby · 04/10/2017 16:51

What a load of old bollocks. I was cheering her on in the first series. In this one I hated both her and her slimy ex. Awful pretend crying, awful accent, soooooo many driving scenes (why the gravel sound effects on Simon's new driveway when it's clearly paved??), such a thin plot line - even now I am wondering what actually HAPPENED in this series???

Def won't be watching series 3.

MissEliza · 04/10/2017 17:21

I thought the hypochondriac patient was supposed to make her look good at her job as she had a lot of patience for him.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 04/10/2017 23:04

Hi OP,

I accidentally started a thread last night, not realising yours was already up and running as the continuation from the previous (full) one.
.
There's at least another new one going too, which means everyone's scrolling through/ posting on separate threads/ missing comments. Bit confusing!

Makes sense to combine in one place, perhaps? More traffic.
As you were the originator, do you have any objection to me re-directing over to this one?

I suggested the same to OP of this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/3050989-dr-foster-thread-is-full-anyone-want-to-cent-some-more?watched=1&msgid=72396563#72396563 ]

Mine's here

No worries if you'd rather not, just thought sensible to offer. Smile

diddl · 04/10/2017 23:05

I only watched the last ep & what a load of crap it was.

She gave her ex syringes & whatever so that he could commit suicide???!!!

lollipop7 · 04/10/2017 23:08

If they do make one I won't be watching.
The "thrilling finale" was dreadful. So bad I don't know where to start.

The only bit I liked was when the bastard ordered a double JD for his sadly not so final breakfast

lollipop7 · 04/10/2017 23:09

@PurpleChai god yes the Hyundai 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

intimeandspace · 04/10/2017 23:09

Agree with ZuZu. Ditch my thread (it's not even grammatically correct!). I will stay out on here.
