it's episodes like this- and the Dickens special, that make you realise they are ( on the whole) pretty good character actors.

That was spooktacular gobby was great, absolutely born for the part. Baby Valerie was the stuff of nightmares.

After today's episode I decided to watch "Whatever happened to baby Jane" it's free on YouTube. Me and DH were engrossed, brilliant acting. I haven't watched it for decades, probably 30 odd years ago. I'd forgotten the ending, luckily.

I then played the "Whatever happened to Gobby Hollins" clip to DH.

I agree that the writing and plots were excellent today. Plus it just shows that some of the main cast are really good actors.
