Back on ITV this Friday at 9.00. Anyone else going to watch?

I find it warm and funny, with authentic dialogue and strong acting. I'm not interested in the relationship between Adam and Tina, and feel that too much screen time is devoted to it. However, I thought that Jenny's schoolgirl-like jealously was sympathetically handled, is and something that isn't often covered in dramas. I reckon that the scenes between Robert Bathurst and Siobhan Finneran are going to be brilliant. I suspect that Pete will develop a crush on the young carer who suggested the job to him. I'm also predicting a pregnancy scare for Olivia.

It is true to life and Jenny is funny - she says things that i think sometimes!!

Pete being overly sympathetic to the girl who was being made redundant and being so hard on Jenny about it was ridiculous but now I'm thinking it was done as a plot device so he can have an affair with her, now they're working in the same place.

The bit where the author fell down pissed at Karen's place was really silly.

But I do enjoy it as an easy watch.

scrabbler3 you were right about Olivia!

What has the woman who's interested in Pete been in before?

And also the person in the wheelchair?

I recognize both of them but don't know what from

Do you mean the woman interested in David? She's been in hundreds of things - she was the original ladies maid in Downton Abbey & tons of other stuff. She's called Siobhan Finneran.

Thanks

Don't suppose anyone knows the other actress's name?

You could have a look on cast lists on IMDB.

Wtf is going on with James Nesbitt's hair colour?

I'm surprised this thread is so quiet; Cold Feet was massive at one time.

Apparently Faye Ripley has a holiday home near me and by all accounts is quite unpleasant. Shame as I have always liked her character although she seems to have swallowed a dose of bitch.

Can't stand David. Simmering fuckwit.

It isn't realistic though. Too much money floating about. Their houses look interior designed and don't think James nesbit would be so pretentious

Ah I know where I know her from now - Don't Take My Baby. It was really good and thought provoking although I didn't think I'd remember her from one single programme years ago

I used to love Cold Feet back in the day and still regularly re-watch my DVDs but I can't really get into the new ones. They just don't have the same feel to me.

And one small thing is bugging me - David mentioned having a sister when he was talking about the Bunty dolls. I remember him having a brother but I don't remember a sister! I am wondering why they've invented one now.

That's right WinterHoliday, he absolutely did not have a sister. Big error there!

I like it overall though.

But he did say they don't talk about the sister though didn't he?

MarthasHarbour · 20/09/2017 11:37

I wondered about the sister too, i remember when they went to Lindisfarne Castle that he remembered his brother bullying him there, but nope, no mention of a sister. That was well shoe horned in Hmm

I really want to enjoy these but i am not. I immediately guessed that Adam's new colleague was Jamie's wife and also guessed Olivia's pregnancy. I am usually crap at this, it is all too obvious.

Just watching it for the Manchester backdrops. I moved here a few years ago and love it Smile

It's an easy watch.
Preferred the earlier series.

I had to switch over, just didn't hold my attention. Also feel the characters have become caricatures of themselves.

Also David's brother appeared in the second series and it was (I think) made explicit that there was only the two of them.

What's the betting that Olivia didn't swallow the pills....

I was actually glad they mentioned this, because David's sister, or lack of, has always bugged me about the original series. In the pilot episode, when Karen couldn't cope with newborn Josh, and was telling David she wanted a nanny he said something along the lines of "we don't want a nutter looking after our baby" and she replied "why not, we let your sister babysit"

I agree that in later series it was made pretty clear that he only had a brother, and it was one of those continuity errors that really annoyed me. In my head they have mentioned her as a nod to pedants such as myself Grin but more likely because it is the law of tv that if a long lost, or previously unheard of, character is mentioned, they are obliged to turn up at some point in the following 2 weeks

I didn't like last night's episode at all. Sad

It was very sad but I don't think she's taken the tablet.

So gloomy. Too much money sloshing about and what's with the weird blonde hair.

I can't cope with the thought that we all have to buy into Adam as a heartthrob

With his badly dyed hair Hmm

That annoys me for some reason

And they are all silly well-off

Well last night was the first episode I've ever watched and wondered if I'd got the wrong show, I thought it was supposed to be a comedy?

Report
scrabbler3 · 23/09/2017 14:14

I liked it. The focus was off Adam and Tina's relationship and on more interesting things - teen pregnancy, business issues, dementia.

I think that Olivia is still pregnant and that Tina will find it hard to conceive, causing envy and friction. Maybe Adam and Tina will adopt the child.

I think that Adam's colleague will try to seduce him to exact revenge on Tina.
