CaveMum · 07/08/2017 08:22

First one confirmed is Mollie King (the blonde one from The Saturday's)

Not sure when the next one will be announced, just hope it's not like last year where they dragged it out for weeks!

Shall we make some song predictions?

I predict "Despacito" and/or "Subeme La Radio" will feature, as they've been such big summer hits. Personally I think they'd be best suited to a Samba due to the phrasing, but I suspect they might try and shoehorn a Salsa in to them.

I suspect you are right cave

Personally I would love the Gotan project one to be recycled for an AT seeing as Pammy never got to do it on the show itself only the tour.

JustineMumsnet said on another thread she will break the news to tech re a glitterball emotiwhatsit for us! I am a little kid about this, tis true.
Grin

CaveMum · 25/08/2017 15:06

I LOVE Gotan Project Gary Grin, though my favourite piece is probably "Santa Maria" particularly when it was used in "Shall We Dance" in this scene with JLo and Richard Gere. The song just oozes sexual tension!

TheSassyAssassin · 25/08/2017 15:13

Gaz help! Talk of suspending me over my glitterball intervention! Go look at the site thread.....Grin

bonfireheart · 25/08/2017 15:20

Ed Sheeran's Shape of You and a cheesy Irish dance to Gallway Girl I expect.

Theromanempire · 25/08/2017 15:32

I am going to narrow it down and predict Despacito as the opening professional number on the launch show Grin

bonfireheart · 25/08/2017 15:39

I think they're doing tribute to Bruce as their professional opening number on launch night. I read that somewhere or maybe imagined it...

bonfireheart · 25/08/2017 15:40

Oh doesn't say "opening number"

Strictly 2017 Celebs are being announced...
Theromanempire · 25/08/2017 17:06

So I may be right then Wink lots of salsa/samba moves and pink feathers Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 25/08/2017 17:21

If Susan does a Charleston then she'll do it to "Make 'em Laugh" by Cole Porter.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/08/2017 17:22

I might be mixing that up with "Be A Clown". Same same.

GaryNumanIsOlderThanGaryOldman · 25/08/2017 18:02

Sorry sass Grin reindeers do indeed need glitter! I went to pick my kids up and have just come back to cucarachagate Shock
I am camping down here and on the word association games where everyone's nice to each other
cave that song is sexy as hell. I know, I know it's DWTS but did you see the AT Shana and James did to it, even if it did involve having a bloody blindfold on the pro...

m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5zwCjbD_Ps

Oh and GP have appeared live with a pro routine to it too.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=chMhV831wAw

I like JLo in your clip. She was good in that and in Out of sight. I would love her/Alvaro Soler's El Mismo Sol to be used for a number but it's probably not party Latin enough. Balada Boa would be fab. This relies on Gorka choosing Spanish/portugese numbers though. Wink

bonfireheart · 25/08/2017 18:58

In their first dance they usually get the celebs to dance to a song related to what they're famous for and a song that they've tenuously linked.

EastMidsGPs · 25/08/2017 19:06

Oh I do so hope we get to see the Rev Richard dancing to Never Can Say Goodbye ... the video from the 80s is my 'cheer up go to' as his dancing in it makes me giggle .
But am now trying to think of church/religion/Reverend tunes

Beyond excited ... DH is Hmm

GrouchyKiwi · 25/08/2017 19:18

If they don't have Rev Richard dancing to "Faith" by George Michael then I don't want to watch anymore.

GaryNumanIsOlderThanGaryOldman · 25/08/2017 19:23

Re music, they always recycle a few each year, don't they?
I think if Debbie dances to Could it be magic? I might just cry (Paul danced to it, so either she will as homage/in memory or they'll choose something else).
Rev Rich Don't Leave Me This Way is a shoe in. Or Say a little prayer as a pp has said iirc. Like a prayer but no idea what dance.
Brian Conley has a wealth of musicals to choose from. They might recycle chitty chitty or hairspray number Mark did. I wouldn't mind a Neil Diamond track, mind.
Joe McFadden Dr Beat/Doctor Doctor/Bad case of loving you (but Sunetra used that). Was also in chitty chitty.
Simon Rimmer: any of Gregg/Ains/James/Nigel's cookery ones (as opposed to songs about rimming)
Mollie King: king, years and years

There aren't many puntastic fore or surnames this year so we won't be seeing the likes of Wake me up before you Ogogo (my personal favourite) or Ed Balls Of Fire (less said about that, the better!) Wink

As long as Jonnie gets something more like Go Johnny Go as opposed to Keep on Running (Iwan didn't come across well but even I felt for the poor sod being lumbered with that for a tango) I'll be happy enough.

Throwback Friday: Harry's Paso to the Saturdays (along with compulsory OlaKneeslideâ„¢)

CazzieCatsRock · 25/08/2017 19:24

Or Praise You by Fatboy Slim?

GaryNumanIsOlderThanGaryOldman · 25/08/2017 19:25

grouchy ooh yes. That would be awesome.

GaryNumanIsOlderThanGaryOldman · 25/08/2017 19:29

That could be his freestyle Cazzie Grin (has a duffer ever made it to the finals here, Chris Hollins notwithstanding?!)

CaveMum · 25/08/2017 19:46

Gary have you seen "Take the Lead" with Antonio Banderas? It's loosely based on the true story of a French Ballroom teacher who started teaching dance lessons to the delinquents in an inner city school in New York. It's a programme that has been rolled out to dozens of schools across the US.

My point being, there's another gorgeous Tango track in the film which sees Antonio dancing with former Strictly Pro Katya Virshillas who has a minor role as a spoilt dance student.

OP posts:
GaryNumanIsOlderThanGaryOldman · 26/08/2017 11:53

Ooh cave I have not seen the film but I have seen that scene a few hundred times. I aways forget it's Katya though because I still think of her as having dark hair.
I often wonder why they let pros go. I liked her, Anya and Ian.

CaveMum · 26/08/2017 15:31

I'll be honest it's not exactly an Oscars winner, but it's an enjoyable film with some cracking dance scenes.

OP posts:
GaryNumanIsOlderThanGaryOldman · 26/08/2017 18:52

Might have to give it a go along with the Channing Tatum movie and Derek Hough ones!
I was kinda attached to Trent also. I am looking forward to seeing Neil.
A Strictly pro routine which whilst a bit DWTS-y, I still liked very much...
m.youtube.com/watch?v=rH5S5seec5I

In other news I learnt Brendan
a) has a sister Vanessa who
b) not only dances but won DWTS NZ two years ago.
c) and was judged by Hayley Holt cos Brendan wasn't on the panel in its final season

CaveMum · 26/08/2017 20:35

Launch Show confirmed for 9th Sept.

TheSassyAssassin · 27/08/2017 08:58

Whoop whoop....less than 2 weeks to go then!

Did anyone catch Len's programme last night? I caught the very last 5 mins of it and was a bit....meh!
