Ooh, no Twig - another vote for the Huff House here. I WANT ONE!

Rhubarb · 23/03/2007 15:53

I noticed that they did nothing to appease the neighbours. They could have invited them all round at the very least!

I wouldn't like to come down those stairs after a few bottles of wine!

Rhubarb · 23/03/2007 15:53

That one on the boat was funny!

What a stupid idea!

Twiglett · 23/03/2007 15:57

oh no .. there's an estate of Huff houses around here .. bordering one of our gorgeous parks .. I remember being astounded at how quickly they went up .. and we went for a walk around them and they just looked quite pokey from the outside

and the funny thing was they were selling for £1 million plus and overlooked the park .. the park then had a revamp and they put a carpark directly in front of them

how we larfed .. evilly of course snurk

Rhubarb · 23/03/2007 16:00

Fab post that Twigs!

KathyMCMLXXII · 23/03/2007 16:02

We don't know they didn't invite the neighbours round - we just didn't see it if they did.

dingolimpet · 23/03/2007 16:47

Now that bloke who did the log cabin in the woods, he was sexy!!!
i can remember having a few fantasies about that secluded cabin.

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 16:55

If you watch more4 afterwards they really slag the projects off - Kevin another lady and that Naomi Cleaver woman.

NC said - I didn't quite get the traffic light system in the dome!! I just thought they had no taste whatsoever - they looked like they had ordered as much as they could afford out of the argos book!!

DH didnlt like the lady on it this week - he said she looked like she needed a wash - well compared to her I am ugly and fat but clean!! HOORAH!!

I was absolutely disgusted with their treatment of thier neighbours and hope that they got sued - no doubt they didn't but they bloody deserved it!!

warthog · 23/03/2007 19:01

the views were spectacular but they didn't really make the most of them. all that decking and i reckon you'd hardly ever be out there because of the weather / wind. would have been much better to have that as a lovely open plan room with a wall of glass at the end.

and those poor neighbours - all retired and having to put up with the noise and damage to their apartments ALL DAY. very shoddy treatment indeed.

hunkermunker · 24/03/2007 12:22

Twig, the woodcutter cottage was my favourite too - and I think Kevin really liked him. The revisit made me cry

michaelad · 24/03/2007 12:25

ooh, the woodcutter cottage..wasn't he was such a nice and humble man. And yes, the revisit almost brought tears to my eyes too!

Did anyone see the "Huff house" episode? Elderly artsy couple buy prefab house from Germany. Loved that one too. Takes guts to do it at that age..

michaelad · 24/03/2007 12:27

oops..should have read the whole thread..

southeastastra · 24/03/2007 12:29

i loved the show afterwards, where they were looking at building on roof tops. seems to be the way forward and some of those prefabs were brilliantly designed.

SoupDragon · 24/03/2007 12:33

Whilst I do have sympathy for the neighbours, I can't help but wonder what they thought it was going to be like, someone building on their roof . I'd like to know how the couple sold it to them!

hunkermunker · 24/03/2007 13:13

I would imagine with a lot of bullshit and not much compassion, SD.

I missed the start so don't know what the planning stuff was like though - and was it a leasehold property?
