Oh I am so old, I actually remember watching the episode where Ian told Mel that Lucy had cancer!

I also thought the part where Bex was encouraged to sing her song was totally unrealistic. Would she really be able to perform after suffering that sort of trauma and then be perfectly normal afterwards?

The80sweregreat · 15/07/2017 11:21

I remember Mel was going to leave Ian for Steve on their wedding day and he made up the 'Lucy is ill ' story so she wouldn't go! Another woman who ended up hating him. I liked Mel though. She was nicer than Cindy.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 15/07/2017 11:54

Mel was going to leave Ian before the wedding and he lied, she found out on the wedding day and left him. New Year's Day wasn't it?

The80sweregreat · 15/07/2017 12:03

That's right! Yes, new year is always fraught on the square! She looked lovely though. She used to run a shop too, then hooked up with Steve Owen and his club. Ian hasn't had a lot of luck with the ladies.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 15/07/2017 12:54

Nah Lauren won't tell anyone abou

Theycalledmethewildrose · 15/07/2017 13:00

....oops

Lauren won't tell anyone about Steven. He'll say he doesn't want to worry anyone, and I suppose another drama will pop up for Ian and Jane 'just' as Lauren is going to shout out that they need to stop putting so much pressure on him because he is DUFF DUFF.......and Lauren won't tell or even explain why she booked very expensive airline tickets and a flat using someone else's card and wasted their money!

Abi will continue the affair' and the sisters and one guy affair will continue because EE loves them!

Bex managed to

Theycalledmethewildrose · 15/07/2017 13:02

Oops sorry again, I'm on my phone and fingers keep slipping. After her traumatic ordeal, Bex still managed to find new strings and tune her guitar.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/07/2017 16:18

So is that the end of the bullies

Finally

Assume will be suspended off school

In some ways good for denny to be bullied as he bully's Billy's kid ....

So is that the end of the bullies?

Not according to the Trailers.
This is Eastenders, they won;t go without a damned good fight .

I reckon Keegan will turn things round (to have the obligatory Personality Transplant) and be hailed as the hero after bullying Louise

Next week looks good. In a Bad way. Sad

I wish they'd kept Old Head Denny ( Ruffles Hair) there was something I didn't like about him. New Head Denny is bland .

Akire · 16/07/2017 22:23

I'm guessing the modelling thing will go badly, as they always do. Since when would school
Bullies want to do
Playes at scho? Was always v square back in the day.

Don't get how they can all just go to New Zealand whenever they fancy? Stephan ok may have resident visa but not his brother or Lauren.

Was laughing at her spending he day on the square, hiding whilst finding every opportunity to walk past the house/cafe/ restaurant evey 5min. She not last long as a spy.

I also though pizza would NoT serve 3 teens!!

EnidButton · 17/07/2017 00:08

Does anyone know when the new producer will take over and the episodes he's been 'in charge' (?) of will start being shown please?

Theycalledmethewildrose · 17/07/2017 14:08

It was effective immediately from when SOC was let go and I think I read on an EE thread on this forum that they film approx six weeks ahead?

I'm hoping it will be the end of the Grange Hill schoolkids episodes and will revert to showing characters over the age of sixteen!

JustadaftProfessor · 17/07/2017 14:17

Well, Sean O'conner came in last July and we started seeing his scripts and changes in late september.

So from that time scale i'd say about a calander month. So if he left 25th of June we should see John Yorke's stuff start to come on screen in late August.

JustadaftProfessor · 17/07/2017 14:20

It might take a bit longer as emergancy storylines are probably needed to be drawn up and Sean O'conners future plans need to be shredded, then burnt, then have sulphuric acid poured over them.

EnidButton · 17/07/2017 15:14

Thank you. So a few weeks yet but not too long.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/07/2017 18:35

I agree Akire! Lauren's "secret" escape involved her walking around the square, buggy laden with bags, bumping into every member of her family Grin.

I suppose the new producer will have to carry on with some story lines O'Conner introduced or tie them up in some way? So a while before we start to notice a real difference.

Stephen pretending to have cancer is going to be tedious. Everyone knows he never leaves the Square so when did that even get diagnosed Stephen?

JustadaftProfessor · 17/07/2017 18:49

Honestly, i think i speak for everyone when i say we really wouldn't mind them just being dropped, for example i wouldn't care if the family next door to Dot just vanished overnight and no one mentioned them.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/07/2017 18:56

Good point Professor The older couple as well (who've made such an impression on me, I can't remember their names) James Herriot and very moany wife? They could go too.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 17/07/2017 19:30

I agree too. I mean SOC seemed to have storylines that drifted off and didn't go anywhere anyway while he concentrated on the bins so at this stage if a few more of the storylines drifted off, what difference would it make!

southeastdweller · 17/07/2017 19:58

I wonder if the actors' have clauses in their contracts saying they can be got rid of at anytime? I hate the thought of people losing their jobs but then again I can't think of any characters that SOC have brought in that've been successful.

CremeFresh · 17/07/2017 20:06

What has happened to Sharon's hair Shock. I know she has extensions but they look even more awful than normal !

juicekite · 17/07/2017 20:23

This is just sick wtf

CremeFresh · 17/07/2017 20:26

It's so unbelievable that someone just announces they have a brain tumour. No symptoms , no doctors appts.

dingdongdigeridoo · 17/07/2017 20:29

Dog brain scans! Grin I need to stop drinking while watching Eastenders because I almost choked at that one.

nancy75 · 17/07/2017 20:30

Sod Sharon's hair, what the bloody hell has happened to her FACE. She looks like she lost a particularly nasty fight with a tin of mahogany ronseel
