i had no idea that the green sauce that i have with pie and mash once a year had alcohol in it! i guess there is a clue in the title of course, but i thought it was just parsley gravy. goes to show how EE can educate.
there are few pic n mash shops around these days.
was this another PIF, dont give the kids the green sauce, they will be alcoholics in years to come?

Optimist1 · 04/07/2017 08:53

No alcohol in that sort of liquor, The80s - it's just a reference to its liquid consistency! Grin

MrsJayy · 04/07/2017 08:55

Just watching now wtf is that Karen on about Confused

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 04/07/2017 09:00

The phone charger camera is only really any use if Lauren plans to chat to Josh about their relationship at her desk, in her open-plan office, in front of all her colleagues Hmm

Found myself fascinated by how dirty Karen's feet were, and a bit devastated to find out she's a Rafa fan ("that Spanish one with the big arms") - he's mine!

The nanny/kids scenes - WTF?

Discovered that I like Mick and Fi together and am rooting for Linda to stay in Watford with whatever her " I have a mystery, no-one gives a shit" is so that Fi and Mick can join forces and run the pub.

The problem is everyone on the show bangs on about Mick and Linda's great love affair, but I just don't see it or believe in it any more. They're just dragging each other down, and the family's falling apart.

MrsJayy · 04/07/2017 09:11

I am also loving Fi and Mick bit of banter going on. Why can't Dot have Robbie stay?

MrsJayy · 04/07/2017 09:16

Scandi nanny is doing my nut in she is pointless and not that good at her job either.

blukite · 04/07/2017 09:24

The actress who plays Bernadette is only 19, Grin at somebody saying she looks 27
I don't think she's pregnant either, she's barely left the house Hmm

Akire · 04/07/2017 09:27

The nanny is very annoying I agree. The kids need favorote food not werid stuff on first day. But even so I can't see Jack being thrilled about buying pizza when she could made them Something better!

Dot had plenty of room so don't know why not help. They love next door to nightmare family they have plenty of rooms. Though Sonia was saying she has plenty of money so surely can give Robbie money for another deposit.

The80sweregreat · 04/07/2017 09:30

I see! I am so confused now about liquor , I might need a lie down
if new nanny is Norwegian then I'm from Finland! Fake nan alert.

MrsJayy · 04/07/2017 09:34

I think Dots is a council house maybe she can't have lodgers or something

blukite · 04/07/2017 09:40

Dot is in a council house but she not long had abi staying?
And fatboy and poppy before that, it's been a never ending stream of people there Grin

MrsJayy · 04/07/2017 09:53

I know I was straw clutching tbh i wouldn't want Robbie living with me either

MrsBotox · 04/07/2017 09:56

Listen up everyone - this a definitive defenition from a former East End gal who grew up big and strong on pie'n'mash, eels'n'mash, jellied eels, pigs' trotters with pease pudding, braised rabbit and pork brawn - so trust me.
Pie and mash liquor is a thickened green sauce, coloured and flavoured with parsley and originally made from the cooking liquid after stweing eels. The cartilage in the eels melted and thickened the sauce. The pies were filled with minced beef.

MrsBotox · 04/07/2017 09:56

..stewing eeles.

MrsBotox · 04/07/2017 09:57

Bugger...eels.

sidesplittinglol · 04/07/2017 10:27

Didn't Dot get into trouble from subletting a while back?

The80sweregreat · 04/07/2017 10:29

mrsbotox, i used to like the liquor on my pies, not any more now i know what its made from. why i didnt find out earlier i dont know.
pie and mash plain for me from now on.
i wouldnt want the Robster near me either, go back to your wife and kid. soon.
i must admit, Karen was funny the way she pushed Jane about in her chair and her way of looking at life. i may even grow to like her a bit. at least she is lively and potential for the one liners. Ian's ; oh your a scrounger' bit was typical.
Bit of realism alert when Vincent was chatting to new Nanny and the others drifted over too. that would happen.

nancy75 · 04/07/2017 10:30

Where is the pie & mash shop in Walford? It's never ever been mentioned before ( I also grew up in a pie & mash eating family, can't stand the stuff 🤢

The80sweregreat · 04/07/2017 10:33

nancy, depends where you go i think! although i have been put off the sauce now.
i guess that new Nanny knew the way to the Roman road or something to pick up the take away and the cute flags - flags from norway are everywhere in the east end.

iknowimcoming · 04/07/2017 10:35

Yes I didn't think liquor had booze in it - I assumed they were trying to be funny in that the nanny thought it was alcoholic so didn't give it to the kids as she's being very responsible and then the kids wouldn't eat it. Can't believe I've just typed that, ffs, such a non-story, hurry up and sort this nonsense out new fella pleeeeeeeeease!

iknowimcoming · 04/07/2017 10:38

Yes flag r us shop in Turpin road presumably - it's where mick and sausage get all the theme night props Grin

Also who WOULD want Robbie to live with them? I assume there's some sort of rule in the tenancy agreement that you can have one relation staying maybe - and surely now Dot could claim for a carer living with her anyway.

The80sweregreat · 04/07/2017 10:38

iknow, we were meant to laugh at her getting the english language all mixed up, but all its achieved is me thinking that alcohol is, indeed, added and what the green sauce actually is thanks to Mrs B.
I have learnt something now, so maybe its done its job!! ( realises i do need a life)
I watched a lady chef put blackberries over pork on a cooking show the other day, looked nice but not a combo i would try myself. i obviously led a sheltered life.

The80sweregreat · 04/07/2017 10:40

I would move rather than have Robbie or Sonia live with me i think.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 04/07/2017 10:42

I think Dot would have to declare anyone living in her council house as they would be expected to pay the rent.?

Is a cheese and onion crisp addiction an early pregnancy sign? Confused What a terrible duff duff. No one cares if Bernadette is pregnant. We don't know the character.

I'm impressed with your pie and mash knowledge Mrs.B although I don't think you've sold anyone on the liquor. Grin

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 04/07/2017 10:45

God yes 80's there's only so much of Sonia's tutting and sighing you could take, and Robbie's nasally voice.
