Donna really does have a great comedic delivery!

MrsJayy · 28/06/2017 08:11

I think Derek feels shame that is why he didn't declare it poor Derek yes i know it isn't real but my heart goes out to him

MrsJayy · 28/06/2017 08:15

Homosexuality wasn't de criminalised in Scotland till 1980/1 and a friend of Mil had to say his partner was his lodger they had been together since he mid70s and Derek reminds me of mils friend who i met a few times in the 90s

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 09:43

Donna could do a turn at the comedy store, she has a dry wit. reminds me a bit of Tamwar when he did some jokes with Jane at a club!

Such a shame about Derek - keegan really has it in for him ( and is very scary, i wouldnt want to tell him off) and its good that the laws have been changed over the years. Goes to show what a narrow minded lot we once were ( although some people still think like it i suppose) i like the character of Derek.
So Denise now has money again, just how much does Kim pay her - Pearl has more care than any other child on the square!

MrsJayy · 28/06/2017 09:53

Denise is being paid enough to do her shopping at the corner shop she must be loaded Grin

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 10:00

yes, the whole claiming and being poor bit has disappeared the same as Patrick's stroke has now got so much better too. Miracles all round for the Fox's there. There was something on teletext about how the new grades for GCSE's are confusing people already ( a 4 and a 5 are both passes or something?) i hope that Denise understands her one when it comes through. ~Why do they need to meddle so much when degrees have always stayed the same ( and A levels) so keep the A and A stars, B and C's etc , we knew what that means.
I think that Abi will turn into a stalker after her night on the tiles with steven. she has that wild look in her eyes.

spiderslight · 28/06/2017 10:31

The new grades are confusing, I remember some of us discussed it on the last thread. I thought 4 was minimum pass? Is 5 a pass too? Can't recall what I predicted for Denise, but it will be A equivalent I think.

His panto finished in June - since then he's been making money doing P.A's.
Thank you! I remember somebody posting photos of his PAs now you mention it.

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 10:34

Mrs jayy put up a photo of Phil with some young women on the club circuit.
I can imagine that the kids will be confused in August with the new grades - i still cant get over how easier it is to stick with A A stars and B's - it makes sense, this 9 is a top grade 4 and 5 might be same but different (?) just muddies the waters, plus someone might get a 10 - it seems all wrong. glad my two had the old system. how employers cope i dont know. its eating away at me and i dont even work in education! lol

nancy75 · 28/06/2017 10:45

How did Phil's Panto finish in June? I thought Panto was just xmas?

spiderslight · 28/06/2017 10:56

I thought panto was winter season too.

I did work in education, a long while ago now, and I know people who have had trouble marking papers under the new scheme. I really don't know if 5 is a pass Confused

iknowimcoming · 28/06/2017 11:18

Confused
The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 11:31

Thank you i know! I still get why they changed it!

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 28/06/2017 11:32

That's just madness isn't it!

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 11:33

Dont get rather

Optimist1 · 28/06/2017 11:45

I expect they'll have to create a new grade for Denise's stellar performance! Wink

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 28/06/2017 11:48

11 or 12 Which is between A and A* Grin

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 11:49

Denise will get an 11 -

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 11:49

X posted!

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 28/06/2017 11:51
Grin

Jonny would have got 11*

spiderslight · 28/06/2017 12:05

I see I got rather mixed up back there, I was thinking in reverse I think! If 4 is a pass, 5 definitely is Blush

Yes to Denise getting some ridiculous top grade.

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 12:07

that was an odd letter Johnny got - i think the results for a degree are on line so what was the letter about? he didnt look happy, so guessing it wasnt what he wanted - the results are all out now for those courses.
He told Mick the computer was down or something , but still, there are other ways of getting the results i guess?
Considering he wasnt at Uni much , its a wonder he got anything i suppose.. he may not open up his own law practice any time soon then.

iknowimcoming · 28/06/2017 13:20

The letter was a refusal for a placement at a law firm - I don't know how it works but it may be because his grades aren't good enough, so presumably Jonny knows what he got he's just not telling

The80sweregreat · 28/06/2017 13:22

i see - i guess he feels bad, but really he shouldn't after what they put him through with a leaky roof a sick dog, his mum not around, having a gap year. money woes, organising themed nights every five minutes etc etc.
always next year i suppose - can you re-sit for a degree? ( have no idea)

FizzyOrange · 28/06/2017 14:10

I think if you have a law degree you then have to be taken on by a law firm to do your 'articles' which is like professional training for two years. The fact that Sausage was declined by the firm may suggest that he didn't get a good enough degree.
