Just watching the night garden for the first time and come to the conclusion it is the Teletubbies the 2000's! Upsy Daisy = Dipsy, the little one with the scooter is Po, and the blue on is Tinky Winky!

Well that is my little boy sold on it!
He stopped what he was doing and gazed at it and he hardly ever does that for anything.

Biglips · 20/03/2007 14:39

my DD is glued on for this one as all the other programmes shes not that glued on!!

chicca · 20/03/2007 17:13

DD hated it, got really upset and kept saying 'I don't like it Mummy, turn it over' until I did. Not popular here then.

JanH · 20/03/2007 17:32

explanation (of sorts!)

I saw the end of it this afternoon and thought it could be quite useful at bedtime - only this was at about half past 3

It even has my 11 year old son staring at it in a glazed way! Can I go and hide?

My 5.12yr olds are currently enjoyiung it

Mumfun · 21/03/2007 18:42

DS 3 adores it.

We tried the website and it is great fun - DS screams with laughter and it is well designed for a littlie to enjoy themselves

NuttyMuffins · 21/03/2007 18:45

My Ds (4), thinks it is hilarious, especially the one called makka packa or whatever it is.

futurity · 21/03/2007 18:46

DS 1(age 5) and DS2 (age 2) both transfixed...DS2 just laughed hysterically which i have never seen him do before at the tv!

LexB · 21/03/2007 21:09

Serenity - my ds (2.8) hates in the night garden too. He watched transfixed on Monday until near the end when they all went sleep and then suddenly started wailing with lots of tears. Couldn't work out whether he was cross because they went to sleep or scared witless. There is something dark about it!!! He is a sensitive soul...We watched it another 2 times that day to test his reaction and he cried again both times..

TheArmadillo · 21/03/2007 21:12

have no idea what this programme is about - its very wierd.

However ds (2.5) seems to understand it completely and keeps pointing things out and chatting about it.

Obviously struck a chord with him.

ds adores it.

kids love nonsense words don't they....right back to lewis carroll and before i imagine...

great bedtime programming for all of us ignoring the 'tv is evil and will melt your childs eyes and render them infertile' ides of marchesque warnings.

i really do think tv is evil and that i'm doomed to guilt forever because ds absolutely loves numberjacks, nina and the neurons and lazytown.

i assuage my troubled heart with the fact that they are about maths, science and sport respectively!

Fubsy · 21/03/2007 21:24

DD (5) thinks its great, especially all the farty noises! I thought the big inflatable things were a bit creepy.

tkband3 · 21/03/2007 22:19

Watched it for the first time this evening. My DTs (2) and DD1 (3.8) all loved it...DT1 had a half hour tantrum when it finished, so not sure it achieved its aim of calming toddlers for bedtime though - in between her shrieks and screams she sobbed 'iggle piggle' intermittently. Will have to think about whether I can cope with that again tomorrow evening .

AitchYouBerk · 21/03/2007 22:22

me and dd (15 months ) LOVED it. she phsl at the farting. [proud]

SueBaroo · 22/03/2007 11:50

I loved it. Reminded me of Bagpuss. And Derek Jacobi has got such a lovely voice for it. It's like being wrapped up in a big snuggly blanket, gorgeous. And I don't have any kids... [mad]

Just kidding, the oldest three loved it too. (the newborn was asleep already)

Dabbles · 22/03/2007 11:56

i thnk its weird, but dd loved it! absolutely loves it!

JackieNo · 22/03/2007 11:59

JanH - that article you linked to was fascinating - the bit about them filming kids at home watching pilot episodes to see what worked and what didn't reminded me of a bit I've read somewhere else about how Sesame Street did the same thing - really looked at what worked, and actually tested it.

DS (3.3) was fascinated by the programme, and cried when the opening credits came on, because he though they were the closing credits, and it had finished.
