Why is Serena Joy angry with Offred? I thought she'd take her anger out on Aunt Lydia.

I just turned it back on and watched the end. I really think that by deviating from the book so much and making it so graphic, they have taken away from the story. There was no need for it, the original story was powerful enough..

She knows that would be futile. For starters aunt Lydia isn't there to vent her anger at, offred is. And secondly, aunt Lydia is more important than serena joy so any attempt to challenge her or have her punished would probably mean consequences for serena joy.

Agree honeysuckle, my first thought was "aunt Lydia is in big trouble" but then it was painfully clear how that just wasn't An option for serena joy. She Is massively restricted in her actions too just not in the same way as June.
