I can't work out how he gets presenting work, he is rubbish. He sounds really wooden and makes loads of mistakes.

OP posts:

"Strength of character?"? no, getting up three times in the night every night for 18 months with a bf baby (for example) shows character. All that bloody rowing just demonstrates (a) that he has nothing better to do and (b) that he is an insane self-publicist.

nearlythree · 14/03/2007 21:23

I think Ben Fogle's rather sweet. Kind of tim-nice-but-dim.

pointydog · 14/03/2007 21:25

I agree he's a tim-nice-but-dim, nearly.

I don't find that type sweet though. Not even with blond highlights and the latest young man's hairdo.

ArtichokeTagine · 14/03/2007 21:27

DP and I broke down while on safari in Namibia. Ben fogle was filming there and him and his crew drove past and stopped to help us out. He was soooo nice and friendly. I do not think he is a great presenter but he is a genuinely nice guy.

KathyMCMLXXII · 14/03/2007 21:34

Oh Artichoke, for a moment I thought this was going to be a 'Ben Fogle is really a b*stard' story..... 'We broke down in Namibia and Ben Fogle wouldn't give us a tow....' 'We broke down in Namibia and Ben Fogle drove by in his Landrover, laughing...' 'We broke down in Namibia and got mooned by Ben Fogle'

pointydog · 14/03/2007 21:35

kathy

He's practically mooning already in those cream cords.

Aefondkiss · 14/03/2007 21:35

who?

pointydog · 14/03/2007 21:38

if you ever watch fogly programmes like longleat safari park and crufts, you might have seen him, ae. Maybe you just don't watch fogly programmes. You are lucky.

Aefondkiss · 14/03/2007 21:39

pointydog, I have heard his name, but not sure why.

ArtichokeTagine · 14/03/2007 21:40

lol = sorry Kathy, it would have made a better story... i was really impressed actually as he had filming commitments but stayed to help us and tell us where to spot some lion cubs. if only he had mooned.

pointydog · 14/03/2007 21:42

did you watch that marooned on A Scottish island, castaway programme years ago, ae? That's when he first appeared on the box.

KathyMCMLXXII · 14/03/2007 21:42

Oh Artichoke, there would be fluffy little baby lioncubs in the story! It gets worse!

'Fogly' is an excellent word, Pointydog.

pointydog · 14/03/2007 21:44

If not doing so already, Fogle will appear on Antiques Roadshow, SOng of Praise, Flog It - and anything else mildly depressing - in teh next five years.

KathyMCMLXXII · 14/03/2007 21:46

Yes he's so posh he probably knows about antiques - very posh people do, it's in their genes.

Aefondkiss · 14/03/2007 21:50

it doesn't help that our t.v blew up in 98 and we just didn't replace it, so castaway/scottish island thingy is post 98?

EddieMonsoon · 14/03/2007 21:52

I absolutely agree that he's sweet in a Tim-nice-but-dim way. He's very soppy about the dogs and I find that endearing

suzycreamcheese · 14/03/2007 21:55

still dont think he'll do it for me even when i'm a housebound old lady....

boring really and bad presenter, just safe fodder for hello et al..

2shoes · 14/03/2007 22:31

good if you lot don't like him. He is all mine

lilymolly · 15/03/2007 07:49

No 2 shoes, hes mine

2shoes · 15/03/2007 10:12

mine

greenday · 15/03/2007 10:29

I mentioned to my friends that I like BF and they all kept quiet. Didn't know why then ... now I know!
Still, I think he's rather sweet and now that some have posted that he is a genuine nice guy, I do like him more. Although I have to say that I didn't think highly of his time with that Big Bro Vanessa.

KathyMCMLXXII · 15/03/2007 10:30

I bet the only reason he didn't moon at ArtichokeTagine was that he was thinking of his career on Songs of Praise.

MuminBrum · 15/03/2007 11:24

But who else falls into the Fogly category? I can't abide that Alan Titchmarsh - he appears on everything, even the blardy Proms for gawd's sake.

lilymolly · 15/03/2007 13:24

2 shoes, do you want to fight over him??

pointydog · 15/03/2007 18:57

proms... alan titchmarsh... yeah, they go together
