Never Kyiv Up On UK: It's Eurovision 2017!

Come one come all and welcome to Suffolk's annual Eurovision bonanza!

Brexit smexit as we join Mel, Scott and Graham for another year of big ballads, unusual visuals and quite frankly bizarre promos.

This year we are in Kyiv in Ukraine after they won with a not so subtle dig at Putin, what will this year bring?

I just watched a few videos from last year, and the audience, by comparison, seemed so much more alive and into it. I think there were far more people there too.

Also, the audio this year is shit.

Poor Ukraine. A for effort.

CormorantDevouringTime · 10/05/2017 07:41

OTOH Ukraine have got hours and hours of countless millions watching and saying "gosh, I thought Ukraine was a grim Soviet war zone but Kyev looks really nice in those clips" which counts as a win even just for morale purposes.

ilovesooty · 10/05/2017 19:48

I'm still upset that the Common Linnets didn't win. Sad

JaneJeffer · 10/05/2017 22:11

The Polish singer was awful, how the hell did they get through. Although I should always expect the songs I hate to do best by now. DS2 loved Moldova Grin I think the Aussies will do well.

SuperBeagle · 10/05/2017 22:20

I don't think Aus will make it to the top 10 this year, especially if he doesn't sort out the vocal problems he had in the semi. He's not very Eurovision (he wasn't a particularly popular choice in Australia when he was announced as the entrant).

OublietteBravo · 10/05/2017 22:24

I've just been listening to the songs for tomorrow's semi-final. Good god the Lithuanian one is dire! Not feeling the love for Hungary or Isreal either...

Onecutefox · 10/05/2017 23:55

Hope tomorrow is better as yesterday, the Ukrainian audience nearly fell asleep it was that quiet or maybe they forgot they were not in the Opera house.

mathanxiety · 10/05/2017 23:59

Belgium is my second favourite so they are probably as doomed as Finland.

Onecutefox · 11/05/2017 00:08

Belgium reminds me of a singer but I cannot remember who. Florence and the Machine? Not sure.
Iceland's song reminded me so much of Robyn's song, "With every heartbeat."

Onecutefox · 11/05/2017 00:10

Anyone else doesn't find Italy's song and the singer that special? The bookers always put high on Italy though.

SuperBeagle · 11/05/2017 00:14

I thought Belgium had a great voice but the song was really bad.

mathanxiety · 11/05/2017 04:42

I tried listening to Italy a few times in hopes of hearing what the bookies are hearing, but nothing...

Same with Portugal.

SuperBeagle · 11/05/2017 04:45

Italy doesn't appeal to me at all

Portugal... I think the guy can sing, but I hate the song and gestures. DH thought the performance was creepy. Grin

Onecutefox · 11/05/2017 11:36

Italians really think their song is the winning song. Really? It's something you'd sing in a pub or on a cruise ship.

"Gabbani is more powerful than Soviet rockets, while Ukraine will lose Eurovision after it lost Crimea".

This was very disrespectful to say about Ukraine. Very low manners.

SuperBeagle · 11/05/2017 11:52

Italy always thinks they have the winning song

GinSwigmore · 11/05/2017 15:08

^ bless. In reality they have only won twice, the last time 1990

No, I didn't remember it either.

MelanieCheeks · 11/05/2017 17:34

Darn it, I was hoping to have baby Guinesseseseses during the Irish entry, but I've got Tia Maria rather than Kalhua and the layers aren't staying separate!

JaneJeffer · 11/05/2017 17:40

SuffolkNWhat · 11/05/2017 19:28

Is everyone ready for tonight, we have Italian food (gorilla free) and DH has promised me a blue drink (sadly alcohol free as it's a school night)

Proper cocktails will be out on Saturday though!

Evening all. I believe Italy's entry went platinum very quickly when it was released.
Has anyone heard about the Portuguese singer's life threatening condition?

SuperBeagle · 11/05/2017 19:46

4:45am and I'm ready again! Grin

SuffolkNWhat · 11/05/2017 19:49

Not heard anything about that ilovesooty
