Just caught up on it tonight.

I love the Robshaws I can't have children but if I could I would have loved them to be like the Robshaw children.

Debbie was amazing! Her parents must be so proud. She was only 19 yet managed all of that on an old stove. I hope this has led on to a tip top job for her.

meatloaf · 26/01/2017 23:53

I love the Robshaws.

In the first series Rochelle irritated me to begin with, but when I clicked that it was more about changes to society rather than food. Her frustrations was reflective of this and I started to really like her. And the other members of the family.

Love the good aspect as well. I eat pretty much anything, but even the brains would have been hard for me.

The afternoon tea thing must have been exhausting. I can do chit chat, but for 15 minutes each time for hours.

DesolateWaist · 27/01/2017 07:28

What I don't get about the afternoons on tea is that if each lady was hosting a open house between certai hours every day, when did they go to each other's houses?

ppeatfruit · 27/01/2017 10:03

Desolate Debbie isn't one of the Robshaw's children!! She's a student of catering who's being the 'maid of all work'.

ppeatfruit · 27/01/2017 10:05

The ladies used to pop in to one another's houses and leave visiting cards to make appointments with each other Grin.

tobee · 28/01/2017 11:39

Omg! So pleased to find this is on. It had passed me by. Thanks for starting thread Akire. I'm addicted to all these programmes and was feeling a bit twitchy that there hadn't been one on for a few weeks. 😆 Was going to trawl YouTube for clips.

darksideofthemooncup · 28/01/2017 11:51

I thought the son might have had a little crush on Debbie. He comes across as a lovely kid. I like all of them and loved Debbie's soft Yorkshire accent. It's a great programme

DesolateWaist · 28/01/2017 17:08

I thought he had a crush on her too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/01/2017 22:52

DEBBIE was amazing as a chef /maid

Bet she is knackered !!!

ROCHELLE prob over the moon she doesn't need to cook. She hated it last series

And so polite to ring the bell and tell her maid she liked the soup

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2017 10:59

Yes Blondes And can you imagine how terrible it would've been for the maid to have to do the housework too!!!

Those were the days ; no dishwashers, washing machines or hoovers then. Though I think there would 've been extra help on washdays, and maybe a nanny for the smaller children

My dm is 88 and always says that they were poor but they had a cleaner and nanny!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2017 11:19

Awful. Christ knows how DEBBIE would have time

3 course meals non stop

Let alone a dinner party for 8 and 8 courses

That's being piggish 😂😂

Linnet · 29/01/2017 23:04

I remember watching the 1900 house, it was back in 1999. I was telling my dd's about it and went looking for it and discovered that it's available to watch on channel 4's on demand website, so we watched it. Smile the kids liked it. www.channel4.com/programmes/the-1900-house/on-demand/26142-001

Akire · 29/01/2017 23:05

Oh great thanks, coal house was also very very good but was 6 families over 2-3months on a small community

Talking of which I'd live to see Castaway the scotch program in year 2000 but have never repeated it.

My favourite of these was the Edwardian Country House. Some really fascinating stuff up and down stairs.

Trills · 30/01/2017 14:18

I am so glad it's the Robshaws again.

I loved ROchelle's grumpy face. She was RIGHT to be grumpy.

happypoobum · 30/01/2017 21:44

Yes Rochelle has a bit of a stoop but I do like her. I suspect she was conscious of her height as a teenager or something.

I also fancy Giles Coren something rotten Grin

Poor Debbie!!!!!!!!!

ppeatfruit · 31/01/2017 09:31

Oh yes I loved Edwardian Country House. I wish they'd repeat it.

Giles Coren is definitely a bit of alright. Blush

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 31/01/2017 12:03

@Akire - as an English emigrant to Scotland, I am pretty sure the term preferred here is Scottish, not Scotch. I believe the latter is a beverage.

Akire · 31/01/2017 12:19

Just bad predictive typing no slur intended!

OP posts:
Akire · 31/01/2017 12:20

Obviously I meant Scottish but that's for being so helpful

Looking forward to this tonight! gilescoren any inside info??!

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 31/01/2017 13:03

Cannot stand Coren. Not even for the brief moments he is on screen. He makes me hackles rise, the petulant twat. That aside.....Grin.....I think the Robshaw girls are really lovely, not at all insipid. I like the whole family in fact.

The only way I could have eaten the scrambled brains if if I'd been utterly pissed and feeling very brave. The boozy running would have been far more my style!
