At 8pm

Who's ready for it?!

OP posts:
MrsJamin · 05/02/2017 21:19

I don't think I have cried yet this series! I think I cried the most when chummy got her blanket.

Hulababy · 05/02/2017 21:23

Started to feel a bit of sympathy for Sister Ursula by the end tonight but right for her to go back. She wasn't suited to the way Nonatus works. And it paves the way for Sister Monica Jones to remain.

So will we see Sister Mary Cynthia and find out how she is doing?

Akire · 05/02/2017 21:26

I guessed when showed fire too and mention of head ache. I don't cry I'm a tough nut but my lip does a little wave.

Wonder what other stories they will come up with next.

SealSong · 05/02/2017 21:34

I'm also watching the Good Karma Hospital, Ipitythescale....reserving judgement so far...

Toddlerteaplease · 05/02/2017 22:47

It was a bit predictable as soon as they showed the boiler you could see where it was leading. Same with Shelagh buying that little outfit. Guessed that the mother In law had had a daughter when she couldn't look at the baby.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/02/2017 22:49

Am I the only person that doesn't cry at CTM?!

TizzyDongue · 05/02/2017 22:51

That seems highly unlikely Toddlerteaplease.

BubbleWrapQueen · 05/02/2017 23:00

I just haven't felt the love this series yet. I used to concentrate only on it, but have found myself working or fbing alongside watching. Just not grabbed me yet.

DesolateWaist · 05/02/2017 23:02

But it's all predictable really Toddler. It's a nice Sunday night drama. Although there are nasty moments like baby Lyn, really you know that nothing properly bad will happen.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 06/02/2017 01:09

Just finished watching (late!) so came to see if others felt a bit underwhelmed! I think we're all agreeing really. It's just too predictable - you know Shelagh will have a rough time, it's signposted to buggery, and we know what will happen with the Chinese baby.

I do enjoy the detail of it and things like Sr Monica Joan going to the Seamen's Mission. And I think it's interesting how it shows the changes in the NHS. But I was really left flat at the way they introduced Sister Ursula's character, built her up as a baddie, and then left it going nowhere. I usually love the actress but I thought she was hamming it up no end there, too. Watching the preview last week I expected dramatic mental breakdown at the very least, not someone rather upset because she'd made some stupid mistakes and then quickly coming round to see the error of her ways.

Hopefully there'll be better next week.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 06/02/2017 05:48

Did anyone else LOL at Sister Ursula wobbling off on her bicycle.

And loved them all at the end. "Yes, I'll carry your bag." "Yes, I'll phone the Mother House and tell them to expect you." "Yes, I'll drive you to the station and see you onto the train." "Yes, piss off now, dear. You're not wanted. Never were, even less so now."

Subtle, guys...

Toddlerteaplease · 06/02/2017 10:10

Xmrsjamin. My sister has never forgiven them for all sitting around KNITTING a blanket but then giving her a CROCHET blanket. She no longer watches Because that ruined it for her. HmmGrin

Notjustuser1458393875 · 06/02/2017 12:44

I felt very tearful at the story of the lost Chinese baby because it made me think about the babies dying right now in similar circumstances.

Agreed that Sister Ursula went too soon, and that I'm curious about Cynthia.

DesolateWaist · 06/02/2017 13:00

I do agree Toddler. That made me cross. Do they not realise that the kinds of people who will watch CTM are the kind of people who can spot the difference between knit and crochet a mile off.

DesolateWaist · 06/02/2017 13:01

I think it would have been nice for Sister Ursula to stay on longer and to see her soften.

Zippidydoodah · 06/02/2017 13:19

Aaah, poor shelagh Sad

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/02/2017 14:30

I want Patsy to come back . She's so head girl !

Akire · 06/02/2017 14:30

Cynthia you could tell Dr wanted her get special help and keen send her away somewhere else. Maybe church was prejudiced against mental health? it was odd way was total fine then saying was v bad though.

Yes agree sister U was sent away far to quick, not like she would
Have offered to come so hardly say I'm going either.

Hadn't realised maternity home was only 4 beds not a lot really considering those days kept you in for week to rest. Why don't we see anymore GP at surgery. Seems run it all byhimeslf plus maternity home. Surely have other dr not just all run
By nurserd when he's not there 24/7.

Clawdy · 06/02/2017 16:21

Sister Ursula should have stayed longer, it was an interesting story line. Everyone else in it is a bit too sweet and loving. Really hope Shelagh and the baby are OK, it's a pity they signposted the trouble so much - beaming hugs, little bonnet.....hate it when they do that.

Bellini12 · 06/02/2017 17:00

If Shelagh was having twins then she would be considerably bigger than the no bump she was showing at 20 weeks...

LRDtheFeministDragon · 06/02/2017 18:23

Yes, what was that?! Grin

All the 'I have to let out my uniform' and they couldn't be arsed to give her a wee bit of padding to make it look plausible?

Notjustuser1458393875 · 06/02/2017 18:24

Especially as it was all about her chest, which sort of expands at the beginning rather than 20 weeks in, doesn't it?

Akire · 06/02/2017 18:45

Not sure on Norma at time. In 70s married woman were supposed to give up work soon as got married
Still so unlikely many pregnant women working professional jobs like that. Nursing was very much a single woman's game.

Zippidydoodah · 06/02/2017 20:45

I didn't really show at 20 weeks with my first!

Tigresswoods · 06/02/2017 22:16

Agreed. I felt a total fraud at my 20w scan.
