Hi
Followed Sue and Noel Radford and family on our tv programmes & see they have a new show on tomorrow (29/12/16).

Something I don't get is child safety in this and other larger families.

I mean I had 3 under 7 and I watch 2.5y old all the time, even when he is in older siblings room as there's bunk beds etc and even dressing up clothes can be dangerous

I know the Radford's have super high bunk beds and they always have around 4 kids under 6y I wonder how they supervise them? Or do you think kids like these and in other larger families are in hospital much more often ?

Some of what the older children say about them preferring babies to older children and how they wouldn't choose the noise and chaos is sad really.

I can't help but feel sorry for some of the middle children who don't seem to get much time and attention from their parents.

ThisSeason · 29/12/2016 22:07

I pity those kids.

Soubriquet · 29/12/2016 22:08

I don't know if anyone else felt the same way by Noel started to creep me out by the end of it

Going on about how can anyone give up a baby and then saying to Sue about how she was given up with that bonnet almost as if he was chipping away at her confidence. That she's no use unless she keeps giving him babies

TheFairyCaravan · 29/12/2016 22:09

I watched it. The whole thing annoys me. I don't think they should be paraded round like some sort of hero because they have 19 kids. She was 13 when she first got pregnant. That's always brushed under the carpet and tonight they were really blasé about it.

They now have some sort of "celebrity" status purely for having a lot of children. They get paid to go to the other side of the world and experience things that most people don't because they can't stop having kids. It's a bloody joke and sends out the wrong message, imo.

ladylambkin · 29/12/2016 22:09

My dad was one of 15 in the days of no top up benefits or mums working.

6 of my aunties and uncles are closer in age to me than my dad.

WhirlwindHugs · 29/12/2016 22:12

I wouldn't be surprised if the tv shows, sponsorship etc make them more money than the bakery.

They probably do have more accidents, but it depends a bit on the kids personalities. Mine are pretty sensible but when my two close in age were 1 and 2 it was absolutely impossible to watch them both at the same time.

throughgrittedteeth · 29/12/2016 22:17

They must have a cleaner.
I can't even begin to think about the mess after Xmas in that house!

God and all the washing, I'm tired thinking about it!

Msqueen33 · 29/12/2016 22:17

It must be bloody hard to manage. I can't see how the kids all get enough time. How on earth do they read each night with the school age kids? I have three and two have Sen and it's bloody hard. I can't imagine having 19 kids. I imagine they heavily edit it. Who on earth enjoys making all those lunches? I'd go crazy.

throughgrittedteeth · 29/12/2016 22:17

Oh also their bakery has an online shop - I bet that makes them a fair amount.

expatinscotland · 29/12/2016 22:20

This.

TheEagle · 29/12/2016 22:21

I was very surprised when Sue's Dad was talking about her first pregnancy and said "oh, she hadn't even finished school" - eh, never mind school, she was 13!

And surely that meant Noel was almost 18? Is that right?

I felt very sorry for the middle children, as a PP said. I have 3 children very close in age and I feel constantly guilty that I don't give them enough time and attention.

TheEagle · 29/12/2016 22:22

And oh dear God, all the meal prep would drive me into an early grave!

BellonaBelladonna · 29/12/2016 22:24

Anyone else find the references to frequent sex annoying?

Not really the point, how often you're shagging is it? Just use contraception.

The wink wink nudge nudge thing was creepy and odd.

expatinscotland · 29/12/2016 22:26

I find the Radfords annoying. Famous for sprogging at 14.

ellenanora5 · 29/12/2016 22:27

Bet the next programme will be finding their biological parents.

I didn't like the way he said at the end that its two fingers to his biological mother or somethjng, yet a couple of minutes beforehand he was going on about how hard it must have been for their parents.

Also he said he would be mortified if any his were having a baby at thirteen, so does he think Sues parents should be mortified then!!!

NoCapes · 29/12/2016 22:27

Bellona the conversation between Sue and the teenage girls about sex was so cringeworthy - Sue is so so immature, listening to that you'd never know she was the Mother

RandomMess · 29/12/2016 22:28

I think their desire to keep having children is partly because they were both adopted.

The talking a lot about sex - well now mine are all pre-teens/teens it does come up a fair amount in conversation, they are too open with us IMHO but let them get on with talking to me about it!

Aoibhe · 29/12/2016 22:30

Noel in particular has huge issues. I can't help but really like Sue.

None of it adds up though - the cost, the logistics of it all.

BellonaBelladonna · 29/12/2016 22:32

I agree NoCapes. Also that 'i never have a headache ' thing with the Australian woman. Wtf?
Have all the sex you want. Knock yourself out love. But it's missing the contraception point.

OhFuds · 29/12/2016 22:33

Yes I found it a bit awkward when all the older kids were talking about their mum and dad having sex. Then Sue with the girl's, there was something weird about that like it's OK for them to be having sex at 13/14.

The whole house is total chao's, could you imagine coming home with a new baby and dealing with all that noise/mess/no sleep/baths/homework etc.

expatinscotland · 29/12/2016 22:36

I find Sue thick and irresponsible.

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 29/12/2016 22:40

I too would be far more interested in seeing a proper week in the life rather than this rather staged trip to Australia just for something different to show. Really similar list to PO above but how on earth do they do play dates, how do they cope with tiredness. We are presented with a very sanitised picture which isn't interesting at all.

There was a lot of sex talk this time which is something I never noticed in their previous shows.

Referring to their parents as "at it like rabbits" was very cringeworthy

galaxygirl45 · 29/12/2016 22:46

My DD loves this family but I must admit to feel a bit nauseous about it all - those middle kids are bringing themselves up tbh, and mum is too obsessed with having babies to be healthy. And having your 1st at 13.......... funny that's not mentioned much isn't it?!
