After watching worst tv of the 90's on five I was having a quick google of worse tv ever and one show universally panned was one I loved- called 'out of this world' 80's sitcom about a girl whose half alien and another one me and my sister remember but no one else about a ghost haunting a family that had moved into her house after she'd choked on a chicken bone.
What ransoms do you remember?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Adventure Game!

I spent many an afternoon laying on the sofa with tonsillitis marking off time according to which soap was on ..

And Heidi !!

Hidingtonothing · 05/12/2016 06:50

Keep it in the Family Shangri, Dudley Rush was the cartoonist Smile

Mrmoonmrmoon · 05/12/2016 07:17

Anyone remember an 80's sitcom set in an advertising agency? It had Liza Goddard in it and the theme tune was something like 'Nancy is a junior secretary in an advertising agency.......'

CoolCarrie · 05/12/2016 07:29

The Flashing Blade on Saturday mornings with the Banana Splits.
Catweasel, bought first series on DVDs, Carries War, Tom's Midnight Garden, White Horses, Roobarb and Custard,
I remember By The Sword Divided, English civil war wasn't it? Lorna Doone was another one of those Sunday must watch series.

ShangriLaLaLa · 05/12/2016 08:12

Hiding - thank you! I have the vaguest of memories of it. But I do recall having a massive crush on the dad. Shock

confusedandemployed · 05/12/2016 08:56

MrMoon was it Roll Over Beethoven? Probably not but that had Liza Goddard too, and Nigel Planer.

papooshka · 05/12/2016 09:50

Metal Mickey....for some reason just came into my head..

MargotLovedTom · 05/12/2016 10:06

Did anyone else watch Sex, Chips and Rock n' Roll with the divine Joseph McFadden? (and the woman who was Debbie from Brookside, as in Damon n' Debbie Wink).

woodhill · 05/12/2016 10:09

Yes loved that and I think Nick Farrel was in it.

TheLegendOfBeans · 05/12/2016 10:12

Dark Season - kids thriller starring a young Kate Winslet, that was fab.

Shocked nobody's mentioned "Knightmare" - caution team

From my young teens I remember "Last Chance Lottery"; Patrick Keilty ably assisted by a greyhound named "Gorgeous the Dog"

Also: Star Test! I'm sure it was on Channel 4 after the Chart Show (before it moved to ITV). Pop stars of the time answer questions on an "interactive" screen. Bit like a televisual version of the Smash Hits "biscuit tin".

Finally; anyone remember an ITV comedy drama called "Head over heels"? I remember it was 1994 because I named my gerbil after one of the characters. Was obsessed with that programme.

SapphireStrange · 05/12/2016 10:18

Matilda, that sounds great! I've no idea what it was though.

Olly, the name Spyder's Web rings a tiny bell. What was it about?

Owl Service sounds amazing. Would love to see it.

Anyone remember Filthy, Rich and Catflap? Rik Mayall was in it playing one of a company of solicitors/lawyers. Think I was too young for it – it went over my head a bit – but I always loved the title.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 05/12/2016 10:32

woodhill....yes I remember big john little john, could even sing you the theme tune

"...big john, little john, what a way to grow...." Grin

Anyone remember 'Duffy Moon'? - "you can do it Duffy Moon"

Also 'Love, sydney'

Loved 'Chocky' and 'Sapphire & Steel' too, flumpybear

zukiecat · 05/12/2016 11:06

Just thought of The Borgias

Not the more recent version on Sky Atlantic but an 80s one.

Can't remember any of the actors though

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/12/2016 11:17

Sapphirestrange
Was the show on channel 4 The sword of Tipu Sultan?

SapphireStrange · 05/12/2016 11:25

No, I think it was just called the Mahabharata.

Seems quite highbrow now I think of it, though Grin

OllyBJolly · 05/12/2016 11:33

Olly, the name Spyder's Web rings a tiny bell. What was it about?

It was a bit like The Avengers or the Champions without magic powers. They solved strange cases. Quite clever and witty - or so it seemed to the teenage me.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 05/12/2016 11:43

Sapphire I do remember it being on. It was confusing with a hangover Grin

destinywidow · 05/12/2016 11:49

Does anyone remember a programme where kids were being chased through icy tunnels by big hairy monsters?? Late 80's maybe??

TheTartOfAsgard · 05/12/2016 12:05

Alex Mack - she had magic powers, could morph into water and a pile of silver gunk.

Can't remember what it was called but had a young Kelly bright, honour Blackman and a mcgann brother - he was the housekeeper.

The hitman and her show - used to sneak downstairs and watch this about 4:30am

I remember first getting cable to when I was about 12/13 and loved the trouble channel - Keenan and kel, sister sister, moesha.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 05/12/2016 12:09

a young Kelly bright, honour Blackman and a mcgann brother

The Upper Hand - UK version of Who's the Boss!

destinywidow · 05/12/2016 12:17

Trouble channel - loved that channel!!!

'The Happy Apple' with Lesley Ash?

woodhill · 05/12/2016 13:09

Destiny Box of Delights?

Anyone remember Sea View?

BringMeTea · 05/12/2016 13:15

Great thread OP.

FrancisCrawford I remember The Kids from 47A. I loved it. I think one other mnetter remembered it on a similar thread a few years ago. So there are 3 of us! The bit with one of them cycling over a pack of sausages in the opening credits is imprinted in my mind. Smile

Also loved so many mentioned.
Flambards anyone? Great evocative theme tune.
The Prince and the Pauper with a child Nicholas Lyndhurst.
Follyfoot Farm.
Armchair Thriller. Particularly spooked by the faceless nun and the one with the wee Scottish girl: 'Someone put plasticine in the gun barrel'.

Ahhh. Happy days.

SapphireStrange · 05/12/2016 13:23

I loved the Follyfoot books but the TV show was a bit saccharine in comparison. If I remember rightly, the books dealt with some quite gritty stuff like abandoned children, poverty and social inequality, racism etc.
