Anyone watching? I love Swedish noir. Not sure there's much mystery though, can't see how it can progress over 8 episodes. That said I am warming to it.

OP posts:

Inger's husband was the killer in some other Scandi thing recently, but I can't remember what. Possibly 'Dicte - Crime Reporter'? (which was pretty low-rent, certainly not up to 'The Bridge' standard, but watchable).

Brillig · 03/12/2016 21:28

Sorry, just seen that coffeeandoranges got there before me!

helzapoppin2 · 03/12/2016 23:51

Design observations of the week:
Inge was seen drawing a curtain, which proves there is at least one in Sweden
Marcus's extravagant tartan waistcoat- fabulous, and he seemed to have a suit to match
The killer- had very bog standard grotty lampshades which points to there being no IKEA on the Dark Side

timelytess · 03/12/2016 23:56

Inger's curtain was really poor, though.

Loving this series but still miss Beck. The male detective is slightly hot but the killer... oh, he's something special.

'Dicte - Crime Reporter' was so brilliantly daft. Bit crap, plot holes all over the place but I still enjoyed it.

Ahh Martin and those little dimples. Wasn't keen on his bleached look but he was lovely Smile

Marking place without reading – only watched the first one. Love the scenery and symbolism; all the snow and trees and Christian iconography is really beautiful.

Orangetoffee · 04/12/2016 13:46

The biggest mystery is how the relationship between the group of 4 is set up. The women are married, the men are married, a child with man 1 and woman 1, a pregnancy with woman 2 and man 2.
Do they live in different houses?

Allofaflumble · 04/12/2016 14:09

Ingers husband was in Beck not that long ago.

MaynJune · 04/12/2016 16:23

I had to google to find out what else Inger's ex-husband had been in (apart from Beck and Arne Dahl).
It was a mini-series called Don't Ever Wipe Tears without Gloves, about Aids coming to the gay community in Stockholm. He played a very flamboyant gay character.
Did anyone see it?

ChristmasBleatings · 04/12/2016 19:45

Of course, he was in Beck I'd managed to block out Beck after the trauma of them killing off Gunvald for which I'll never forgive them, never

Although I've read the book Modus is based on, I'm pleasantly surprised that I can remember all of the characters but nothing whatsoever about the main plot points or the eventual outcome Grin

Optimist1 · 04/12/2016 22:26

Just caught up with watching this week's episodes. I'm definitely hooked! The violence is very graphic (but thankfully short), isn't it?

The sisters talking in their indoor tent were so sweet - even at 8 Linnea understands her sister's situation. I found that scene very moving.

AgentProvocateur · 05/12/2016 10:16

Does anyone know how many episodes are in the series?

Optimist1 · 05/12/2016 10:39

Eight in all, Agent - so we're halfway through.

AgentProvocateur · 05/12/2016 11:28

Thanks. We're out for the next three Saturdays - I thought I was going to have to get up very early on Christmas Day to see the finale Wink! I'm really enjoying it.

Pocoyo123 · 06/12/2016 11:08

I'm loving it too. Long overdue! Any more Scandi series coming up? What's the series after Modus, does anyone know?

Optimist1 · 06/12/2016 22:41

Good articcle, Coffee - thanks for the link.

tiredbuthappyworkingmum · 06/12/2016 23:09

Liking this but find it distracting that I keep thinking of Tracey Ullman and a young Ray Liotta...

Allofaflumble · 10/12/2016 10:28

Ray Lotta......if course! I did get the Tracy Ullman likeness.

Allofaflumble · 10/12/2016 10:28

Liotta

minesapintofmulledwine · 10/12/2016 13:36

I've finally caught up on the last two episodes and I'm enjoying it a lot more. We're out this evening but going to make sure I'm home in time I think.

ChuckGravestones · 11/12/2016 13:57

Really loving this the more I watch it.

Optimist1 · 11/12/2016 14:17

Just caught up on this week's episodes - chilling! I missed seeing Inger's daughters, though.

Allofaflumble · 11/12/2016 18:01

I don't want it to end. Poor Marcus Stahl. I hope they catch the nutcase before he gets harmed. Only two more to go. :(

timelytess · 16/12/2016 12:41

I don't like Marcus. I like the nutcase. I hope he can be rehabilitated - but I understand that it would spoil the story. I am loving this series.
