I am riveted.
And I am imagining how much fun the writer/s must have had writing the dialogue.
And whoever wrote/chose the music is a genius.

I have no faith and do not have a Catholic background, and yet find myself quite unsettled by Pius XIII.
I think we have yet to figure out whether his a Good or a Bad character.

What do you all think?

My favourite bit was the dream homily in Episode 1 Grin

Really enjoyed this week's episode, lots going on. It was horrible to see Lennys 'brother' being attacked.

I love Lenny and that baby!

PacificDogwod · 03/12/2016 20:08

I really don't see where Lenny can go from here Sad

And the Honduras events and what led up to it... well.... Sad

The wink Lenny gives in the opening credits seems oddly inappropriate now tbh.
Yes, he is v sweet with the baby. "Kaka" Grin

Poor Lenny his obsession with his parents may be the un doing of him.

Honduras! Bloody hell!

PacificDogwod · 03/12/2016 22:50

Yes, what was that all about, with the fake parents?! Confused
Just to distract him so he would sign stuff??

Honduras 😱😱

I reckon that's exactly what the parents were about. I think he suspects Sister Mary was behind it, but it could have been the old guy on the oxygen. Either way Voiello wasn't able to go through with their plan.

Lenny and the baby though.

polyhymnia · 04/12/2016 23:27

At least he didn't drop it this time.

I think Mary was definitely behind the 'parents' charade.

Very sorry to see Dussolier killed- one of few sympathetic characters in this. I wonder if he knew that was a possibility when he asked to go back to Honduras? He was very guilt ridden by death of young aspiring priest.

I'm loving the series - it's weird, but strangely addictive. Visually sumptuous and I love how it's deliberately taking it's time to unfold and allow us not to rush the interesting moments. And some excellent scripts. I keep saying to DH now, "Prepare the Sistine Chapel!" in a Make It So kind of way. Grin
And I love the kangaroo.

Apparently there will be a series 2. Hooray!

PacificDogwod · 05/12/2016 22:19

I've just re-watched last week's episode with DH and keep noticing new bits.

Yes, I think Dussolier 'wanted' to die - he was (rightly or understandably) very upset by the young lad's death.
I thought even as children he was the more human of the two and Lenny was strangely singleminded in everything he did, even then.

I think Viello fancies Sister Mary Grin - cannot stand her, but finds her hot.
And him in his football outfit at the start - well!

Do we reckon Dussolier will really be dead? Awwwwww I was kind of hoping he would be found and hospitalised. Poor fella almost got raped by the creepy chauffeur too. That was just awful.
I love Voiello what a fantastic character.

PacificDogwod · 06/12/2016 20:55

I think Dussolier wanted to die - the suicide of that young Spanish lad really hit him hard. And I don't think that he recognised the Lenny he grew up with in The Pope.
Yes, the chauffeur was horrible.
It is quite striking how the program goes from really quite surreal and funny (cardinal, stripped off in the pool, diving for his lost crucifix Grin) to creepy and dark (chauffeur) to violent and upsetting.

I think he's properly dead Sad

OP posts:
BaggyCheeks · 06/12/2016 21:38

Yeah I think Dussolier is definitely dead. It's a shame, I liked him Sad

polyhymnia · 07/12/2016 10:58

I hope Lenny will feel guilty about it!

gaggiagirl · 07/12/2016 23:53

Ooh it's on tomorrow. Is it the season finale?

PacificDogwod · 08/12/2016 21:15

Noooooo, season finale already?! Shock

OP posts:
PacificDogwod · 08/12/2016 21:16

And yes, I think Dissolver's death may well push Lenny over the edge.
He's quite... brittle?
I feel quite protective of him Hmm

PacificDogwod · 08/12/2016 21:17

Dussolier - a/c has other ideas.

Anyone watched today's episode?

I was finding the lack of activity by the pope a bit frustrating, but the episode tonight was brilliant, especially the speech.

WobblyLondoner · 08/12/2016 23:22

PS tell me that wasn't the last episode of the series ... ?

PacificDogwod · 09/12/2016 07:31

I like yesterday's episode Smile

Is he a saint? As in 'works miracles'?
Or is he the opposite? As in 'kills people from a distance'? not that she didn't deserve it
Confused

OP posts:
Helsinkimorning · 09/12/2016 08:50

It's fantastic. I was a bit confused at the end. When the Pope prayed in the car park how did all the lights of the lorries come on? Were there drivers sitting inside, or did they miraculously come on?

BaggyCheeks · 09/12/2016 09:18

I think he might be a saint. I've got to watch last night's one tonight, I can't wait!

PacificDogwod · 11/12/2016 20:44

And why/how did the kangaroo have to die??

Yes, I may be unreasonably preoccupied by this program Grin
4 more sleeps to Thursday...

OP posts:
BaggyCheeks · 12/12/2016 12:13

What?? I totally missed the kangaroo dying!

gaggiagirl · 12/12/2016 14:10

Is there another one next week?? I wasn't sure if this was the last one or not. I really hope there is.
How did that poor kangaroo die? It looked stabbed, mirroring Dussolier?
Lenny is struggling with his grief poor love.

I had a neb and the series is filmed mostly in Venice. I believe filming wasn't permitted in Rome.

gaggiagirl · 12/12/2016 14:14

Sorry... Stand down folks, we are on episode 7.....there will be 10, that's right TEN episodes in this season. I think I confused it with the season finale of westworld Blush.
