Wanted to make this a separate thread to make it obvious.

I didn't know this until I saw it mentioned it somewhere else today. Fox are showing the walking dead at 2.30 am!

I won't manage to watch it - I'm 7 months pregnant and my 3 year old isn't sleeping well but if you were able, it would be cool.

Back in series 3 or 4 Glenn and Maggie had to separate and I think Glen's parting words we "I will find you" - and of course he did. Which is what made his final words so poignant.

cardibach · 26/10/2016 21:03

A bicycle would be a shit way to avoid walkers! Daryl has enough difficulty on a motor bike!

MiddleClassProblem · 26/10/2016 21:08

Surely it's better than walking!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/10/2016 21:24

Rock found a bike in the pilot episode. When he found the woman without any legs crawling across the grass. That's how she got her name. Bicycle girl.

I've just read online that on the actual 'uk premier' that aired at 9pm monday, they cut a bit of the scene with negan abe and glenn, they limited the amount of times he hit them and missed out when glenn spoke to maggie along with his lifeless body & still twitching hand. I watched it 2.30am monday morning but when I re-watched the one I recorded that was on at 9pm, I do remember now that those parts weren't shown.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/10/2016 23:07

They showed it on NowTV, the whole horrible shebang.

MiddleClassProblem · 26/10/2016 23:10

The sky on demand download on the day before the 9pm had Glenn talking to Maggie. Odd that they left that out as it's a significant bit

Bigfam · 27/10/2016 03:09

Yeah, apparently they only left those scenes out on the 9pm airing.

Middleoftheroad · 27/10/2016 04:12

FGS we are all adults and don"t need censorship (though even I found it graphic and I normally love a bit of brain eating).

I did see the 'full version' but I wish thry wouldn't insult fans by editing.

Briteside - Glenn was Rick's right hand man. That's why he cried when Negan asked about his right hand man.

FOFONAR · 27/10/2016 08:43

Loved it, caught up after being away for the weekend. That was the hardest episode I've ever had to watch. I'm totally desensitised to the zombie violence but that was hard to watch. Couldn't look at the scene with Carl and the axe.

I wonder how humans will evolve in the future if this is life for the long term now?

Bigfam · 27/10/2016 09:34

I found it a bit odd as well, I think they at least could have kept glenn's last words in there, they held a lot of meaning after all.

briteside · 27/10/2016 09:47

Thanks Meep - missed that!

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 27/10/2016 09:53

Speaking of gore and GOT, I'd say it was pretty comparable with Oberyn Martell's death Grin

myyoyo · 27/10/2016 11:04

'I wonder how humans will evolve in the future if this is life for the long term now?'

I wonder if humans need empathy to survive successfully in TWD? Rick had lost all empathy for anyone other than those in his close circle. He drove past people that he could have helped and he killed people in their sleep. I think that was his downfall and it may be Negan's downfall also. Would his group die for him or are they enslaved by him?

myyoyo · 27/10/2016 11:11

I think the TWD deaths were more gratuitous than Oberyn's death in GOT. Oberyn was voluntarily fighting to the death when he was killed (horribly) - he wasn't senselessly murdered.
It's quite common for a main character to die in GOT also.

witchhazelblue · 27/10/2016 12:23

It's common for main characters to die in TWD too, how many of the originals are left!

Dale argued in season 2 that they needed to keep their empathy, I'm not sure if that's right. In an apocalypse situation I imagine humans would simply revert to animal type behaviour in order to stay alive. Empathy would simply get you killed.

There's a comic book series called Crossed which is a little like this (although the apocalypse turns everyone mad and violent rather than into zombies). Some 100 yrs after the apocalypse humans exist in small packs fighting other groups for survival and have no knowledge of education/democracy etc beyond the scraps of civilisation left behind. And they're not really interested in it as theyre too busy trying to stay alive. (Word of warning though - this series is truly gratuitous so not for the faint of heart or stomach!)

MiddleClassProblem · 27/10/2016 12:27

I don't think it's far fetched that you would be in packs, just like many mammals, and fight each other for resources.

Bluebolt · 27/10/2016 12:49

The roles at the beginning would be how I imagine it would go in reality with the men taking the lead as hunters and gatherers and the women protecting camp and children wether they liked it or not. Testosterone kicking in and males automatically assigning roles. The governor underestimated Michone because of her sex and his biggest mistake.

Twiterati · 27/10/2016 14:34

My opinion is that TWD is really a study in how we would survive post apocalypse. The zombie element is merely an aside. It really is how the human race would evolve and to that element I think it's fairly spot on. We would have to lose our empathy to a degree. We would not be able to pick up every waif and stray that we came across purely because we would have to doubt everybody at first. I think TWD as a programme is accurate in many ways in predicting our behaviour. We would come across complete psychos who would do nothing to save theirselves. Society as we know it would break down completely but it would take a while as it has in TWD. Yes Lori and Carol carried out domestic roles in the first season etc but as we can see from Carol she has become badass in order to survive and in fact questions whether she wants to survive. She doesn't actually want to carry on losing people she loves and being in pain constantly. I think it's right that it has taken 6/7 seasons in order for us to see how order has now completely broken down. It was hard viewing but necessary I feel. It will also now change the path I feel and show us how we as humans would evolve under such threat.

FOFONAR · 27/10/2016 14:41

It's an interesting model. I think physical evolution would occur as well with only the fastest, strongest and least empathetic surviving. Would we have time for babies though? How many people would start a family deliberately? I can't understand the Maggie/Glenn storyline to get pregnant in their situation

witchhazelblue · 27/10/2016 14:46

Personally I'm surprised there hasn't been more babies given the general lack of contraception around (besides the condoms Maggie gets in the pharmacy in season 2!). I don't think many people would have a family deliberately - Maggie and Glenn would be unusual I'm sure.

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 27/10/2016 14:50

I suppose the hope of life continuing would be a reason to have a baby.

I'm not sure how they managed to feed Judith though considering they had very little formula.
