I can't decide. It's written by Sharron Hogan but the laughs aren't coming for me yet.

I find all the characters pretty unlikeable, and am really not interested in watching it any more. SJP doesn't have the spark that I love in Sharon, and the actor who plays her husband just seems really dull.

EachandEveryone · 21/10/2016 10:26

Yes they do not go together as a couple at all.

Can i be shallow and ask if we think sjp has has any work done? I think not or its very subtle if she has. SH has been on the botox. I dont blame her i, saving up for mine!

The trouble with the husband is, you should be sympathetic to him given he's been cheated on, but actually he's such an arse that you think 'well why didn't she leave you years ago?'. Clearly the character is too insecure to risk being without a man, given she went running back to the husband once the (equally uninspiring) lover dumped her. But given the show is called 'Divorce' you know what's going to happen - get on with it already!

SarfEast1cated · 21/10/2016 19:02

I think she has had work done, because every now and then she looks really strange. A shame because she has a strong face, and I would think she'd look good even with some sagginess...

OlennasWimple · 21/10/2016 21:58

I guess if you picture the husband without the moustache they make a more usual couple?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/10/2016 00:04

He seems a pompous arse

AmaZed marriage lasted that wrong

Always thought sjp has/had a huge nose - wonder why she didn't do surgery on it

EachandEveryone · 22/10/2016 06:39

Because it adds character to her face? Same as Barbra Streisand? That's what I keep telling myself.

Im still not convincec i cant stand the husband.

Me neither. I'm glad they finally seem to be getting to the divorce bit but the playing music loudly when his kids were at home was the final nail in the coffin for me. The husband is irredeemable even though SJP was the one who had what appeared to be a not-very-enjoyable affair with another twat.

Also the snow is doing my head in.

EachandEveryone · 25/10/2016 23:20

Its too scripted.

Watched the first one
Couldn't find much humour tbh
Also think the husband is miscast unless is he supposed to be 20 years older? But I won't be watching ep 2 to find out, though I do think SJP is a terrific actress, it's just too much of a downer, even if only billed as drama.

EachandEveryone · 27/10/2016 00:37

I'll stick with it for the outfits and the location. Hopefully it will improve.

I'm really enjoying it!

Purplerunner · 29/10/2016 07:06

I thought this week's episode was really good. Particularly liked him playing his music loudly upstairs and her reaction to the news of his emotional affair 😂😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2016 21:50

Sits on fence pulling splinters out

Watched 3. Better then 1 but still unsure

EachandEveryone · 02/11/2016 23:55

Just watched the 4th. Not great.

I've given up on this. Watched 3 episodes but wasn't really enjoying it. I love Catastrophe and expected it to be similar so really disappointed. None of the characters are likeable at all.

TeaAddict235 · 03/11/2016 16:15

this programme is about as funny as a funeral. It's like pulling teeth. I too feel like it is an update for SATC. SJP is the same SJP in everything that she does. I feel as though I should give her a chance to develop her character though, like that Girls series. But again, lack of diversity in an apparent US programme. Odd.

EachandEveryone · 03/11/2016 17:24

I cant see it getting signed for a second season

OP posts:
Bertucci · 03/11/2016 21:14

Is it supposed to be funny? I don't think so.

I am enjoying it, but maybe because I am not expecting to laugh.

EachandEveryone · 03/11/2016 21:40

tvline.com/2016/10/01/divorce-review-hbo-sarah-jessica-parker/ its always been sold as a comedy

It's so depressing...

IhatchedaSnorlax · 16/11/2016 12:44

I'm getting into it now & really enjoying it. Laughed out loud quite a few times at the most recent episode - cringe at the boy/girlfriend under the blanket & at the end with the headphones.

I'm hopeful it'll carry on getting better & better! Grin

OutComeTheWolves · 18/11/2016 07:37

Yeah I found this week's episode quite funny. Each time I think he is a nob then he does something to salvage himself.

MozzchopsThirty · 19/11/2016 11:18

I'm enjoying it, it's one of my favourite programmes at the moment
