I was thinking that the other day. They can all drive but no one ever learns. Corrie did have Roy learning to drive as an adult.

dingdongdigeridoo · 20/10/2016 17:26

You definitely need a car in Albert Square. Just in case you have to carry out corpse disposal!

Optimist1 · 20/10/2016 17:28

I seem to remember Dot learning to drive, but can't think who it was who taught her. Jim? She would wear those string-backed driving gloves that were a thing in years gone past.

Akire · 20/10/2016 18:09

Yes amazing no car thing. always thought Ben Jay could easily had an old banger yet only time they did anything teenager-ish was when they lent Phil car and all went on break with Lucy somewhere in woods??

EnidButton · 20/10/2016 20:05

Dot has serious style.

No-one in Albert Square drives unless it's to have a crash, kill someone or remove a body.

Florathefern · 20/10/2016 20:13

Smile at what Enid said.

I also admire Dot's wardrobe all the time. I was especially excited to see what she was going to wear to her old friend's wedding a few weeks ago!

Has she upped her style recently or am I just envious and appreciative of her vintage look wardrobe these days?

cherrytree63 · 20/10/2016 20:16

My daughter's just said she's got a cardi the same as Dot's!

HarryPottersMagicWand · 20/10/2016 20:21

I've got driving gloves Blush.

EnidButton · 20/10/2016 21:40

Grin Glad it's not just me. It's the red nail varnish, wool coats and retro vibe. Although it's not retro to her obviously. I've seen the blouse she had on when Kim crashed into her car, online recently. Can't remember where annoyingly but it was somewhere fairly cool I think. Dot's a style icon, I'm telling you.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2016 23:51

Poor dot. Was all Kim's fault. She lent to her her phone

Finally jane has seen the discrepancy in the accounts. Can't believe Ian never looks

What did Stephen do with the money he stole?

Honey wouldn't be allowed to do the make up. She isn't a qual beautician and takes great skills to make the dead up. To get skin tone from
Death to looking living

Surely shaz would have found the trainers under the cushion

Still want to know how Ian's has a table and sofa in living space ....,

I was right about Belinda and Stacey asking for rent the other day. How on earth did she manage to spend £50k and make the business flop

And no one in the square had £1k spare

Did Martin say they needed to find 5 ton. That's 500? Bloody cheap rent for a month - that's 125 each adult - 30 a week each

Or is it weekly so £2k a month so £125 each a week

Which still TBH is cheap for London

Soup. Thanks about the billy shouting thing. Missed the rota change

Think they've been reading this again, jack sold the last flat tonight and declared his job is a property developer Grin

avamiah · 21/10/2016 00:07

What's the story with Carmel and Masood?
I thought he came back as he missed her and had feelings for her?
And if he is leaving EE,then is she going with him?
Also Kim's character is so bloody annoying and rude, so where are they going with the driving lessons?
I'm totally lost .

Akire · 21/10/2016 00:39

Yes whole Masod coming back because he missed someone .....AND lasted about 33 seconds now seem to hate each other. Unless he still has light for Jane but she been back with Ian for ages that's a whole new creepy story

EE need stop whole can't pay rent crap Sonia paid it on one wage now 4 adults can't. She wasn't a brain surgeon. Donna pays rent, kush pays rent, Roxie pays rent (on a two bed) from working on stall but Martin and Stacey can't.

Dot been wearing same wardrobe apart from wedding outfits for last 30+years. She's not on trend, it's just been so long it's back in fashion.

how old is Amy supposed to be? Thought must be 7??? Still very much baby ish. She's been in school for years has to be 6 or 7. Especially as little step/brother/cousin is 4-5.

Florathefern · 21/10/2016 01:17

I don't understand why Martin and Stacey moved into a bigger house when they were already struggling to pay the rent in the old flat despite having it rent free for a year

I know that they needed extra space because Becs moved in and presumably Martin is now paying her costs but my issue is that previously Sonia paid for the entire house and paid for Becs as presumably Martin didn't have anything to pay towards maintenance. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Belinda could easily have spent 50K getting the business up and running, buying stock, paying wages etc but why did she have five people (two girls sitting around reading magazines today who she told to leave early, the masseuse Suzanne?, Stacey and Belinda herself working there when the business wasn't paying its way and the only customer is Carmel!

Is Belinda going to turn into a prostitute/escort to pay bills? Will the beauty salon become a brothel?

My guess is Kyle will now lose his job (which will create extra financial pressure for Martin and Stacey) and will move out. He doesn't have any storylines anymore.

Phil's garage is also supporting Phil, Sharon, Louise and Denny as well as paying Ben's wages along with two other mechanics. They all seem to manage an active social life as well.

Businesses in EE defy economics.

EnidButton · 21/10/2016 02:56

I didn't watch last night's as none of it is interesting me atm. What was the duff duff please? If it was something remotely worthy of them then I'll watch. Otherwise I might give it a miss for a couple of weeks and just follow here

EnidButton · 21/10/2016 03:00

I've been thinking Dot has style for years and years so I know she isn't on trend. But she does have a strong look and is always immaculate with her rolled up burgundy hair and never ever chipped red nails. Only thing I think they missed is a cigarette holder. I feel like Dot should've been using some gold tipped number since her teens.

cherrytree63 · 21/10/2016 06:33

Belinda seems suitably qualified to do the makeovers in the funeral parlour.

southeastdweller · 21/10/2016 07:46

The duff duff last night followed Jane confiding to Sharon that either Ian or Steven have been making dodgy payments to fake companies via the company account.

MissBattleaxe · 21/10/2016 13:58

I have found EE very dull lately. I think the final straw for me was when the duff duff was for Kim declaring that she didn't want to take her theory test any more. Then they zoomed in on her face like it was Acorn Antiques.

That's it, I'm going to sort a cupboard out every time EE is on. Zzz.

dingdongdigeridoo · 21/10/2016 14:07

Who owns Stacey and Martin's house? I thought the reason Sonia lived there rent free was because Pat left it in her will to the family. But then she moved out and left whateverhernameis and her mum alone.

Haha the duff duffs are getting sooooo acorn antiques! I wasn't even listening to the one with Honey's kid. So boring.

EnidButton · 21/10/2016 14:19

South Thank you. That sounds slightly dramatic at least.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 21/10/2016 14:21

Janine owns the house I think dingdong. The Branning/Jacksons were renting living with Pat there and stayed on when Pat died.

Florathefern · 21/10/2016 14:46

I don't mind the duff duffs not being dramatic tbh. Makes a nice change from the recent ludicrous storylines which had got totally out of hand e.g. Gavin, Peggy etc.

The80sweregreat · 21/10/2016 14:52

I have been a watcher since episode one ( admittedly not always as obsessively as now and had times when I didn't, but I would describe myself as a huge fan) and I like this new way of doing things, people actually talking things through, not too much shouting ( although Kim having a go at Dot wasn't nice last night! It was her fault!) and people getting together and having the sort of discussions you might in real life. so funny when they asked Ronnie about her wedding and she answered 'which one?' Its changed for the better I think, money was usually air brushed over in the past, but its good they are flagging up how much it costs just to rent in London and so on. However, I think Martin and Stacey should look into benefits - surely they could claim for something ( HB, working tax credits? not sure) they need to ask the Mumsnetters..
