Currently watching Who Took Johnny on Netflix having resurrected my previous crime doc obsession.

Can any recommend any good (I use that term loosely as obviously they're not good!) ones to watch? We don't have sky (annoyingly as I want to watch the JonBenet one)but I have Netflix, prime and now tv.

I can only watch when DP is out as he hates them. I then cack myself over every noise in the house for ages but I can't stop watching them Blush

Absolutely the highest quality crime podcast is Sword and Scale. I'm a subscriber/ patron.

Once you discover it, say goodbye to your days...

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 24/09/2016 20:33

Burke Ramsey has a constant grin on his face through the entire Dr Phil interview. Possibly nerves but he looks so shifty!

Where can I download podcasts? Is it iTunes? Bit clueless.

I thought Patsy looked oddly detached. There were no tears in her eyes. The whole press conference thing was strange.

I know it was yonks ago and things have changed, maybe, but....moving the body? Surely that's tampering with evidence thus perverting the course of justice?

I don't see the programme as "dangerous", particularly; just another theory which may or may not hold water.

Never heard of Sword and Scale. Must give it a try. Who needs a life anywayGrin.

ayeokthen · 24/09/2016 20:58

It was his reaction to the bowl of pineapple in the documentary interview that I found odd! Such a straightforward question.

tobee · 24/09/2016 21:16

The Jinx was the best thing I've seen in ages. Watched the first episode alone and late at night. Completely spooked me.

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 24/09/2016 21:32

I can slightly understand moving the body. I don't think I'd like leaving my child alone in a cold dark room. The fact that the police told him to search a crime scene astounds me.

I have watched the first two parts of the ID channel JBR doc. Where do I find the Cbs and Dr Phil docs?

DigestiveMuncher · 24/09/2016 21:50

Love!! This post OP!!

I am completely addicted to anything true crime related I could probably murder someone and get away with it I have learned loads from them!!

I watch all the programmes on tv all of them!! CI, CBSAction (for NCIS & law & order) CBSreality, ID and I have literally watched every crime drama.. documentary on Netflix's apart from making a murderer makes me sad but I just could not get into it at all!!!! Envy

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 24/09/2016 21:56

Derek I absolutely love Luther!! Absolutely amazing and Idris Elba is probably the best actor for the part!!

Deux · 24/09/2016 22:09

You tube for full screen versions of the CBS docs. Also for the Dr Phils but it's a small screen in a big screen. Something to do with getting round broadcast rights issues or something. Or IP vanish or torrent sites. Also try DailyMotion or Nayavideo.

For accessing podcasts. You can do it via iTunes or google the podcast and you can access it from their site. iTunes will give you a feed of episodes. Do try Serial Season 1. I was hooked. Then follow up with Undisclosed. Don't google though as you may get a spoiler. Smile

I didn't like Sword and Scale podcasts. Way too gruesome in detail for me and too much focus on the grisly details of the crime rather than the investigations. A bit bile-rising for me. But appreciate just my opinion.

Crime Writers On ........ Podcast is a good one and quite light. I often hear about other podcasts, shows, docs or books on there. It's a kind of magazine type format.

There are some good threads on Reddit on JBR including a few AMAs from those who were involved in the investigation. But I've lost too much time there ....

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 24/09/2016 22:11

I've never ever been on Reddit. Will I fall down a rabbit hole? I need something to keep me occupied during preschool hours. I'm trying out the whole SAHM thing and I'm bored rigid.

supercaliforniasurfer · 24/09/2016 22:22

Thank you!

Deux · 24/09/2016 22:27

Yes, right down a rabbit hole and the only way out is running out of charge.

I must confess I'm not entirely sure how it all works but can be an interesting read.

Deux · 24/09/2016 22:35

Supercali, there are lots of JBR docs on YouTube but the CBS ones are titled The Case of: JonBenet Ramsay.

2 of the experts, Jim Clemente and Laura Richards, host a podcast called Real Crime Profile and their most recent episode discusses the 911 call and the ransom note in more detail.

Someone asked about how to listen to podcasts. You can also get them on Soundcloud.

Deux · 24/09/2016 22:44

Here's a link to an AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit by a retired Boulder police chief. He actually ended up deleting his responses but the Denver Post kept a cached copy before his deletions.

This was in 2015 so well before the CBS documentary was aired.

I enjoy this kind of thing too. It's so addictive.

Deux · 25/09/2016 00:04

I really must leave this thread alone and lose myself in Reddit.

But, FYI. The Ramseys and Dr Phil have the same lawyer, Lin Wood, and according to Reddit he's going totally bat-shit crazy on Twitter.

I think the most telling thing is that the Grand Jury were going to indict the Ramseys but it was all whitewashed by the DA.

The Ramsey (ex) friends, the Whites, have kept schtum allegedly through fear of being sued by John Ransey and they testified to the grand jury. It's suggested that they may now speak out since the CBS doc opined what many have believed from the beginning.

BreatheDeep · 25/09/2016 07:55

I watched Audrie + Daisy on Netflix last night. It's about teen rape and social media. Very sad but a good documentary.
Always looking for more crime documentaries so will follow this thread with interest.

ArmfulOfRoses · 25/09/2016 10:23

Also following, but yy to Making a Murderer, I was going to bed at 8pm with the iPad to watch that!

DigestiveMuncher · 25/09/2016 11:17

What is this Reddit everyone speaks of?? Must get on it and fall down this rabbit hole Grin

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 25/09/2016 11:36

It's an app that appears to have gazillions of threads on any subject.

I downloaded it last night. I haven't actually come of off it yet.

Attics and basements are the shit of nightmares!

Only because people don't turn the lights on, really.

How many people in real life are caught in basements?

ayeokthen · 25/09/2016 11:41

I've never been in our attic, not once. Probably because DP found a spider the size of my head ok not quite but still running about up there rather than a fear of serial killers.
