Now I know whats wrong with the helicopter scene. No gun bags or containers. But maybe the helicopter flew the containers directly to the armoury? Grin

pixieg1rl · 18/09/2016 10:56

I think filming them unload of kit from the helicopter would have interfered with the dramatic dramatisation of the drama and lingering thigh strap shots that woof enjoys so much.

Delphin · 18/09/2016 11:06

And each of them lugging 50 kg of kit would have had them waddling rather than strolling. Wink

Ilovelblue · 18/09/2016 11:07

Delphin I would expect these SAS men travel light - ready in an instant to whizz off somewhere round the world weeding out the bad guys. I really think those long oblong holdalls were their rifles and they had a bergen as well (full of towels no doubt!!)

icemistOBE · 18/09/2016 11:25

And then we wouldn't have had the lovely scene #HereComeTheBoys

ice that's the perfect title for that photo. Almost goosebumps worthy!!!
The way Elvis swung that hold-all over his shoulder...

14.99 is a very good price, but we don't have a DVD player? All the bloody electronics the kids have I cant believe we don't have one!!

Series one I bought through iTunes so I have them on my iPad.

I hope SPO is still following us. I'm sure he can come up with some cracking stories so far.

icemistOBE · 18/09/2016 13:20

I keep singing the song from the Boots ads but swapping boys for girls

moojangles · 18/09/2016 13:41

Wifi... BT have helpfully now admitted that it is their issue not ours, so at least they won't charge us £120 to look into it. Looking like Tuesday at the earliest. Loving that pic, not bad for one without CJ in it. Have series 1 on itunes and dvd, so will do the same with this one too.
I am goign to be a lone voice here but I actually think the level of factually/accuracy and detail is vastly better than the last one, poetic licence permitting!!!

Rhubarb01 · 18/09/2016 14:06

Well, a trip to the supermarket is never entirely wasted, however much I really hated going on a Sunday. I was at least able to scour every TV magazine on the shelf for snippets of information. Sadly, there was next to nothing. Only the same sentence or two was regurgitated in every listing apart from one which had a little bit extra and suggested there might be a small twist on the "I want you to be the first thing that I see," line.

In addition however, whilst perusing the state of the veg on display and sizing up a few carrots and beetroots a thought came to me... not not that one...knowing how I like to drag the guts out of everything. I was thinking of the moment the 'boys' arrive and the conversation between CJ and Elvis.

CJ: "I should have vetoed this."
Elvis: "How could you when you didn't know I was coming?"
CJ: "I thought you were in Syria."
Elvis: "I was....."

That's a bit of a weird exchange. Why would CJ have wanted to veto special forces being involved if he already thought Elvis couldn't possibly get sent there because he thought he was in Syria? Or is it just him being wise after the event and thinking he should have said no to any Special Forces involvement? Surely, he would have wanted to take every opportunity to get Georgie back and the chances of Elvis turning up were slim - thankfully not too slim for our enjoyment and entertainment.

Glad you think it's a bit more accurate this time mooj good to have a more informed opinion on the subject.

Rhu my interpretation was that CJ would have said "Don't send Elvis" if he'd thought he may head up the mission but he knew/had heard he was in Syria so it wasn't an issue. Wise after the event clearly.....

Another question: 20.03 is the deadline before they kill GL. This was sundown. EH looked at his watch and knew it was 20.03. How would he know that?

Slightly more in depth question than the state of the fluffy towels!

Rhubarb01 · 18/09/2016 15:25

Yes ilove it does suggest that either Elvis has an encyclopedic knowledge of the world's sunrise and sunset times or he's got a pretty natty watch on his wrist. Am I mistaken or does he glance at his watch before giving CJ that piece of information? I haven't gone as far as to check this time Smile

Rhubarb01 · 18/09/2016 15:30

Sorry you mentioned the watch already - I was distracted by watching the Davis cup tennis. Elvis must just be super clever with a photographic memory or a James Bondesque watch? Won't be long before Q appears at this rate.

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 18/09/2016 15:30

He does glance at his watch, yes. We are overthinking this. I said I'd just sit back and enjoy the ride as it were but it's impossible especially when you've biewe it multiple times.

Ilovelblue · 18/09/2016 15:31

That should read viewed!

Rhubarb01 · 18/09/2016 15:42

Don't worry I find the overthinking the most fun part - I'm sure you can tell!

To nit-pick a bit more, 20:03 is pretty late for sunset in Kenya. Kenya is on the equator and days and nights are pretty equal, sunset is typically 6pm, with a fluctuation of a few minutes before or after, no later than 6:15. In fact the Swahili clock is organised as hours after sunrise and hours after sunset.

lokijet · 18/09/2016 15:50

thanks ladies - i had assumed all the georgie / elvis backstory was from the last series

Have now downloaded series 1 from the BBC store (£6) and plan a catch up session through the week so Im fully briefed xx

Rhubarb01 · 18/09/2016 16:25

Yes pix that's a bit of an obvious thing to check really. It didn't matter from a story point of view whether they'd said it was 18:00 or 20:00 as they were always going to attack in daylight. I can remember looking up somewhere the time of dawn in bits of Africa for 'Perhaps' because it did matter for the story and finding that it was about 6am or so most of the time.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 18/09/2016 16:35

loki I bet it turns into a binge watch! Grin Most of us could probably quote the script by heart now.

Ilovelblue · 18/09/2016 16:50

Can I pose another more banal question? In the prequel when GL and EH are at his parents' house then later by the lake, his hair is floppy but relatively short but out in Kenya, it's longer and floppier. Has he not had time to get it cut between missions or do we think the SAS not stick to the same regulations?

Ilovelblue · 18/09/2016 16:51

don't stick

RedCrab · 18/09/2016 16:57

I'm very late to this so sorry for the silly question but could someone explain Georgie and the actress playing her now as oppose to last season? I just caught last week's off the cuff and then watched this week, and had assumed it was the same character and her and Elvis got together last season..? Is that not right?

pixieg1rl · 18/09/2016 16:57

Ahh, we may have found our reason rhu, just an idle google suggests that the sunset times in Cape Town in April (so around when they were filming) would give an 8pm sunset. So TG must have just used that, forgetting Kenya's equatorial position. On the off chance he reads this, I am available for fact checking and continuity (for a fee).

I feel very happy about our over thinking of minor plot points. I shall have a cup of tea to celebrate.

RedCrab · 18/09/2016 16:58

As in...I'd never seen it before but just caught last week's after Bake Off. And am now addicted.

pixieg1rl · 18/09/2016 17:00

Not a silly question redcrab Georgie is a new character this series. The last series was Molly and yes, she got together with the male lead, Captain James who is still the platoon commander in this series (and conveniently the best mate of spineless jilter Elvis.
