I thought it was based on the American shows like "a haunting" and "paranormal witness" which does use the real people to tell the story and actors to dramatise it

Loved it!

Took a while to work out why the same characters were being played by different actors. It's a re-enactment. The sort they do on Banged Up Abroad and the like.

Watched it at night, home alone, with the lights out which helped with the 'woo' element.

One more thing. There is definately something in them using younger actors for the talking heads compared to the actual events. My theory is that what we are seeing is 'real life' and not the re-enactment at all. Some or all of them don't survive and the talking heads are played by actors.

I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I understand what they were trying to do, but they've done it too well IYSWIM, and it looks exactly as cheap and tacky as those kind of shows do.

Hoping they don't keep to this format all the way through tbh.

I just watched the first episode of hotel last night. Not that impressed.

I loved the others apart from Coven which was fucking awful.

Gaga is going to be in this season at some point. I loved her in Hotel, that was my favourite season apart from the first one.

Couldn't get into the one with the priests or Coven, and Freak Show was just ok, but Kathy Bates' accent in it was just bizarre.

I nearly gave up after Hotel. I managed to watch 6 episodes before giving up. This one is off to a good start. Does anyone else find it weird how Angela Bassett is playing the sister of Cuba Gooding Jr when she played his mother in Boyz in da Hood? The woman just doesn't age. She has an eight year old daughter in this season.

I am. Not watched last night's yet though. I'm on the fence, it doesn't seem to have the same feel to it this year, I don't like Matt and Shelby, the reconstruction thing is weird, and why hasn't Evan Peters been in it yet?! And WTF is Kathy Bates saying?! I'll keep watching though because I love the whole AHS world and I need to know how it all ties in. Apparently there is a huge twist in episode 6 so looking forward to that.

I only realised that when the bloke who played the serial killer in Hotel came on. I'm not quite sure what the point of trying to achieve that level of realism is about. They should have just gone with a generic English accent or whatever comes easiest for them as it's quite distracting.

So is Evan Peters not in this season then?

I'm finding it a bit slow and boring tbh, but the producers have said that episode 6 is where it all changes and we will find that we aren't watching what we think we're watching So we shall see.

I still have an episode to catch up on, finding some parts super creepy but getting annoyed with them for sticking around that house, surely anyone else would have been out of there! I've been wondering if they are going to have a big twist soon as I feel like the reenactment docu style will get a bit boring for a whole season. So that's good to hear Hip! I wonder if they aren't quite telling the truth?

I quite like that it's not gone in all guns blazing as I find quite often AHS has brilliant starts but they they run out of steam .

I agree. I often think 8 episodes per season might be better than the normal 13 or however many there are. Quality not quantity
