Starts tomorrow - anyone planning to watch?

It looks like a new version of Castaway without the heavy-handed interference of the TV crew and without the cosy huts provided.

So they went in in March didn't they? So can't be long.

Because Tom said so Anne ! Wink
Don't like him

EsmesBees · 01/08/2016 22:13

Yes, double standards on the winter shelter front. Surprised Anton didn't call them out on it.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/08/2016 22:16

These men are horrible.

I might give up on this you know.

It has all of the arseholery of CBB but none of the amusement

APlaceOnTheCouch · 01/08/2016 22:24

Someone on Twitter said if they had a gun with two bullets and they were stuck with David Cameron and Tom, they'd shoot Tom twice.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 01/08/2016 22:26

Ha Ha Place

I like that Katie called the men out on the 'them' comments.

StilaOnTheWrongPlane · 01/08/2016 22:28

I like that Couch Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/08/2016 22:29

Grin APlace. I would do the same, then kick him.

Agree this show is disappointingly boring. What a shame!

NickiFury · 02/08/2016 00:35

Tom is a thoroughly nasty piece of work. Imagine him in a Lord of the flies type situation.....

APlaceOnTheCouch · 02/08/2016 00:40

Tom is such an unpleasant individual.

I am worried at how thin the vet has become. If they don't get some protein next week, I worry he will have to leave for health reasons which would be a pity because (temper tantrum aside) he seems a decent person.

NickiFury · 02/08/2016 01:51

I actually think Rob's outburst had quite a positive effect tbh. By getting riled up on behalf of one of the girls I think he contributed to changing the dynamic of scapegoating and bullying the girls that was beginning to spiral in. One of the most needed members of the group wouldn't accept it and I think witnessing him flaring up like that would definitely have made people think just a bit.

Destinysdaughter · 02/08/2016 07:30

Well said Nicki! It did seem to bring things to a head and then they had that meeting and actually resolved to work together as a team more which did go well and that's what they need to do to survive. I work with groups a lot and there's a well documented process they go through, 'forming, storming, norming' and then eventually performing which was what they were finally doing when they were chopping down the trees together.

Hope they manage to live together more harmoniously now. Also if you're tired and hungry all the time, little things are going to get to you more. Not to stereotype ( tho I am ) but the guys need some meat and the girls need more sugar! 😀

APlaceOnTheCouch · 02/08/2016 10:06

I think his temper tantrum did have a good effect but it wasn't a conscious decision on his part to change the dynamic of the group. It was borne as much from hunger as principle.
Now, if he had threatened Tom for being a bullying, duplicitous arse Wink

evrybuddy · 02/08/2016 11:05

Fascinating watching twatty Tom (I'm a natural leader) trying to get his gang of twats to push some of the girls to leave.

The project would work better if he left.

Also, 'Army Officer' Jack - probably no more than a short service commission of some type.

Jack can't seem to get his head around not having 'natural' authority just because he was in the army once.

That people won't naturally defer to his officer credentials.

That the reason soldiers in the army did what he said was because they were paid to - it was their job FFS!

It didn't mean they respected or admired him - they had no choice - if you want to get paid/keep your job - you do what the officers say.

I find it staggering people like him are given responsibilty for other people with guns.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 02/08/2016 20:04

Catching up on this now.

Did they say seaweed and eggs are their only protein source?

There's no fish or shellfish? Or even rabbits running around that they could try to snare?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 02/08/2016 21:09

I don't understand why there is a lack of protein. The visiting fishermen last week told them it was nearly the start of fishing season so I thought it would have started by this episode. I'm also guessing there are deer, rabbits and wood pigeon. Maybe the hunter isn't very good.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 02/08/2016 21:49

They were building a deer fence in this episode. That would suggest there's deer nearby.

If they're that short on protein, you'd think they'd have at least one person on permanent hunting / fishing duty rather than have them building winter cabins.

fieldfare · 02/08/2016 21:58

They're using the fishing nets as bloody hanging wardrobes. Ridiculous.

I'd have lost my patience with most of them by now.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 02/08/2016 22:09

Yy if they actually put the nets in the sea they would have more chance of catching something.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 02/08/2016 22:17

They're using the fishing nets as bloody hanging wardrobes. Ridiculous.

Oh, come on.

The poor things haven't been given proper wardrobes or chests of drawers. Faced with a hard, hard choice between using the nets as a hanging wardrobe for clothes, or as fishing nets to help ward off starvation, what else could they have decided?

Hmm
Destinysdaughter · 02/08/2016 22:23

Even those pp on Bear Gryll's Island who don't have the proclaimed skills of this lot manage to catch more protein! Agree why aren't they trying harder to catch more fish? I'm sure they could have fish twice a week if they put their minds to it..!

Rollergirl1 · 02/08/2016 22:36

The resident fisherman wasn't even in last nights episode was he?

Also what animal did they kill? I didn't see any and not sure how I missed.
