Anyone watch last night? Friday

4 sisters prepare for the funeral of their brother in law (married to 5th)

You know he's dead as funeral in e1

But it's how he dies

Subtitled but funny

Well worth a watch. It's on demand if you missed e1

E2 next week

I'm surprised by the number of English words & phrases they use. Perhaps it's from the influence of American cinema etc.

Jean-Claude is so awful it's ridiculous. Worst of all is the way he & Goedele address each other as Mummy & Daddy, even when they're alone together.

I understand the idea of calling a kitten 'Puppy', but why would you do that in a different language (English) and then not even pronounce it the English way?

Bryt · 29/08/2016 23:02

Glad to find a thread on this DH and I are watching this weekly and really enjoying it.

diddl · 30/08/2016 08:19

"and then not even pronounce it the English way?"

Because their accent makes it sound different??

The same as when they say "in deep shit"?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2016 15:21

I have the volumne on low and yes some words are the same

Looks like the next episode will be "Eva's story"

rubs hands

although I can't help but think it will be quite sad Sad

Flowerpower41 · 02/09/2016 11:10

I am half Flemish so it is great to brush on the language as although I am not at all fluent I used to visit summers as a child.

There is an awful lot of English language in it these days yes and it must be from the influence of cinema. I don't remember that growing up!

It is funny when they say 'in deep shit' as part of their everyday parlance.

As for the name Puppy I can only assume they use it as a cartoon character or something and don't necessarily know it means a dog! Although having said that the Belgians are rather embarrassingly good at languages and generally put us to shame.

It is a pity I don't go to Belgium any more owing to weak links in the family but it is great to feed the inner child and watch it weekly. I shall miss the series once it finishes. Both entertainment and nostalgia combined for me!

TheSecondOfHerName · 02/09/2016 12:43

As for the name Puppy I can only assume they use it as a cartoon character or something...

If the kitten is named after a cartoon character or similar then that would explain the different pronunciation of "Puppy". Their English accents are noticeably good for all the other English words they use.

diddl · 03/09/2016 09:01

I thought that it was "Puppy" as she had wanted a dog?

I think they just say vowels differently.

TheLegendOfBeans · 03/09/2016 09:43

Bloody hell, last nights episode, eh?

Jesus H. Bit of a shocker of a twist there...

Assam · 03/09/2016 23:16

Well that was not funny... Bloody hell what a change of pace from last week

diddl · 04/09/2016 11:58

Eva's story was just too much, wasn't it?

Love how it has been set up that none of the four have an alibi.

I have a feeling that the denouement might be disappointing.

Flowerpower41 · 04/09/2016 14:04

Yes the Eva story was far too graphic!

It felt like we were watching porn for a few minutes blimey ....

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2016 22:54

Ahhhhhh

I'm a week behind. Havnt read last few replies so don't ruin it for myself

Need to watch last weeks

Then tonight's which I think is the finale so will know who killed him

Or maybe it was a natural death after all 😱

I got up early this morning to watch the last episode. No spoilers, except to say that I loved this series.
Wish I had sisters like that Grin

TheLegendOfBeans · 10/09/2016 14:13

Hmmmmmm

The end felt rushed to me. And kind of inconclusive; if everything could be solved by SPOILER ALERT Mathias burning some shit then why didn't they just do that at the start?

I liked this but a lot feels unfinished - maybe deliberately?

Bryt · 10/09/2016 15:16

I quite liked the ending although agree it seemed rushed.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2016 15:53

Just seen last weeks and not looking at replied past my last post

Poor eve :(

No wonder she hates the prick

He raped her

He made her infertile

He cheated on her sister

He lost her her job

I would want to kill him as well

Will try and watch last nights in the next few days

And no I didn't work out younger sister killed min :(

I honestly thought she was missing

Blonde 😳😳😳😳

I LOVED that ending, and the prick got what he deserved from the person he was nastiest to.

So Mathais made a deal with them not to pay out?

Flowerpower41 · 11/09/2016 07:21

Good ending to a great series.

It was ace practising my Flemish too.

Bryt · 11/09/2016 07:37

Assam, I assume they made a deal once he knew who the killer was.

diddl · 11/09/2016 08:27

Poor Pastis!

When JC dies, was hoping that Eva would get her job back.

Would have been interested to know how they all lived afterwards.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/09/2016 12:48

Finally seen and read the replies

I was right / I said early on in the thread the wife did it

Agree ending was rushed

So they forfeited the insurance money to save going to prison?

Can't see why younger sister could t still have been with the Insurance bloke

Poor ratty

Tho did enjoy

Very clever and funny
