Think they're trying to cover too many storylines.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/07/2016 23:36

Love the way she said she enjoyed selling and that she earnt £75 which is more then the money that lamb chops sell

BrandNewAndImproved · 26/07/2016 07:54

I agree there's too many story lines. The adoption, the attempted rape, the hit and run, the teenager, bunny and her daughter, it's all a bit much.

I absolutely love the one who lives with Ann who's getting married.

panegyricS1 · 26/07/2016 10:06

Spoilers

Too many stories, some very contrived (the policeman being Mrs S's biological son, for example). It's got an "In the Club" vibe which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Positives? Great cast/acting. Heartwarming relationship between Mr Speight and Russell. Realistic dynamic between the lesbian woman and her disapproving and bemused mum. Brilliant soundtrack and cultural references. Loving the fashions, especially the affair woman's big blonde perm (I recall loads of those as a child in the 1980s).

Katz · 26/07/2016 17:38

i'm liking it but think they could have hinted at stories for a second series - thus guaranteeing one

diddl · 26/07/2016 18:21

Penelope Wilton is just so good.

When she called at Nita's house & was almost breaking down.

Davros · 26/07/2016 19:42

I agree there may be too many story lines but that last scene! Penelope Wilton with the baby bootees and Only You in the background. Brilliant.

CoolCarrie · 27/07/2016 02:21

Too many characters, and storylines. Home Fires was so much better. I can't believe ITV would choose to make this, and cancelled Home Fires! 😡

panegyricS1 · 27/07/2016 10:16

Agree with the Home Fires point.

That said, I'd be surprised if BE ran and ran. It's already beginning to lose steam, for me.

JustDanceAddict · 28/07/2016 06:55

Loved the first couple of eps, but def on the wane now. Agree some fab acting like Penelope Wilton.

skillsandtea · 11/08/2016 07:43

Did nobody watch the last two episodes of this? I thought it was great. Funny, uplifting, good 80s soundtrack and a proper ending. Not like they sometimes have crap endings so that they can make another series.

SheHasAWildHeart · 11/08/2016 10:13

Was that the last episode?

I think the reaction to this has been lukewarm on MN, but all the episodes have trended on Twitter and people have loved it.

I find Steph the main character really wet and don't understand how she has three other characters in love with her. I would like it if they dedicated more time to the other characters. But yes a second series would be great.

TheLegendOfBeans · 11/08/2016 10:18

Someone mentioned "In the Club" above and I see the point - somewhat contrived storylines, crammed together for maximum "drama".

But I think that In the Club fancied itself as a more "serious" BBC1 drama whereas I get the impression ITV knew that this was going to be more "soapy".

For me the series was fine enough, a second one would be nice to see, maybe with Russy and Tina with a baby on the way and how Nita is coping with life as a single mum assuming hubby got banged up for running down Spake

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/08/2016 22:56

I enjoyed it and enjoyed in the club / tho I seem to be a rare species on mn 😁😁

diddl · 13/08/2016 09:41

I enjoyed it!

Just loved Penelope Wilton in it.

pleasemothermay1 · 14/08/2016 21:34

I did like it but

Home fires was fab

Cherrypie32 · 15/08/2016 14:49

I enjoyed it, more than the second series of In The Club. Was it last one?
