Ok, like our sister thread for those who have read the books, this is for discussion of Outlander Series 2 but for those who have not read the books and/or don't want any spoilers.

Just watched E10. So, so good.
Get your tissues ready. Think I'm going to spend the rest of the series watching through blurry eyes.

hudyerwheesht · 12/06/2016 10:56

Agree with snozzle, fab but traumatising.

On the subject of the music, I thought the music during a lot of the scenes - especially the battle scenes - was beautiful. Really hope they put that on a soundtrack or I'm going to have to try ask pixie to find it for me. Makes me very emotional, not something I was in need of during that episode!
Just the battle scenes with that music had me welling up.

I guess the book readers amongst you knew what was coming too...Sad

Yes. It didn't make it any less moving though Sad I actually cried. Haven't done that at a film or tv series in yonks.

Verbena37 · 12/06/2016 11:29

Just finished Ep 10.
Sad.
Very good though.

Verbena37 · 12/06/2016 11:31

Oh and also, does anybody know whether they had that tartan made anywhere in particular? Is it possible to buy it by the metre do you think?

I'm planning on using it in a picture frame as a back drop for perhaps a Jacobite quotation or poem/quote from the script etc.

I thought it might look cool.

Verbena37 · 12/06/2016 11:33

ooh, just found this page

Verbena37 · 12/06/2016 11:39

Nothing by the metre so far though....guessing it's only allowed in official merchandise.
Might have to settle for buying a stole.

gingerboy1912 · 12/06/2016 13:16

Oh no I'm feeling anxious now I'm way behind on series two only on episode 3. Confused I know there's no spouts I don't tell me. I will have to get a move on and watch some more.

gingerboy1912 · 12/06/2016 13:16

Spoilers not spouts.

TheHiphopopotamus · 12/06/2016 13:19

I think the no spoilers on this thread referred to the book spoilers and it was fair game to talk about the episode when it had been aired. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

gingerboy1912 · 12/06/2016 13:25

Oh I see I'd better get Amazon prime cranked up this afternoon and do some catching up. Smile

hudyerwheesht · 12/06/2016 16:19

That sounds nice, verbena though I think you're right, it is only available as official merchandise. Can't remember if I've already said on this thread but I visited Doune Castle (Castle Leoch) and it was the stuff that's on that link - it is very nice, soft wool(if an expensive range). Not that it matters from a gram but maybe if you bought a shawl you'd have enough left for a scarf.Smile

On a separate note, by my count there was four "mark me"s from this episode. Has one of the writers got a bet on with someone?
Does he say it all the time in the book?

OP posts:
hudyerwheesht · 12/06/2016 16:20

*for a frame!

Don't even know how from a gram is supposed to make sense, stupid autocorrect.

I got four too. I can't remember if he said it all the time in the book tbh. The amount of times he says it on the show, I'm starting to think it was either a well known (to historians), real life vocal tic of BPC's or the scriptwriters have a bet on with someone Confused

hudyerwheesht · 12/06/2016 17:58

A real life vocal tic - that's an interesting idea.

I'm sure if he said it as often in the book you would've noticed. I always notice when an author repeats a certain word or phrase, although I've never had a character do it, that I remember. I'm going to look out for it when I start reading DIA.

What does it even mean anyway, is it just another - more annoying - way of saying "mark my words"? Judging by the context it seems to be but I've never heard it before, IRL or in any film/book.

OP posts:
TheHiphopopotamus · 12/06/2016 18:16

I skim read the books though hud Blush I do usually notice if a phrase is used over and over. JG Ballard's 'Crash' is terrible for the use of the word stylised, for example.

I took his use of 'mark me' the same way you did. But kind of pimped to sound old fashioned IYSWIM.

Verbena37 · 12/06/2016 18:29

Doesn't it mean listen/pay attention/trust my words when I say etc

hudyerwheesht · 12/06/2016 18:59

Yes some books are like that, aren't they? Steven King's 11.22.63 kept saying the past couldn't be changed because it was obdurate. If you put it in a thesaurus like I had to the list of synonyms is massive but, no, the past was always obdurate.

Maybe when I watch season 2 again after it ends I'll count the whole series worth of "mark me"s. Shall we do a sweepstake on the grand total? Grin

OP posts:
TheHiphopopotamus · 12/06/2016 19:06

Grin Yes,let's do that. It can keep us going after S2 is done.

Brilliant idea....mark me sweepstake!

Murtagh has v shiny knees in the first half Grin

Thought this episode was my FAVOURITE so far, brilliant and lots of really wonderful tenderness between J and C.
A and R were fantastic.
Bet the Doughal fans out there are happy.
