I watched as I am a nanny and thought would be funny /good

I didn't reliese it was based on a book /true events

So basically Nina is/was a nanny to mary Kay and wrote about her time there?

Didn't she sign a contract with confidentiality clause in it?

In the book Nina didn't say anything about a contract clause.

The series is growing on me - it's easy watching and though I still think it was a mistake to fictionalise certain people, I like being transported back to the early 80's.

I stuck with it after last week and its not got any better. Nonny character is odd ( and looks like a young Jeremy Clarkson) and why was the camera behind the bar when they were ordering drinks? seemed a bit strange. funny to see him smoking inside the pub though!
HBC's character is growing on me but Nina is annoying me still - she is so on the defensive about everything? it doesn't seem to flow that well either, seems a bit all over the place. I still prefer' Mum' although that has its faults too.

It only seemed to last 10 minutes last night, I can only assume both of us fell asleep.

I'm quite enjoying it although don't like nina much!

I presume she was desperate for a job otherwise I can't see why she'd want to work for people where she failed the interview due to liking the wrong footie team-according to the kids!

Love that Sam Frears is in it!

which one is Sam frears, is she the TOWIE actress, or someone else?

according to people that have read the book, she was turned down at first then asked to come back. not sure why really. maybe having nannies wasn't as common back then, or they had interviewed others and the boys didn't like them much either?

Sam Frears plays the guy in the wheelchair.

He's is actually the son portrayed as Joe iyswim.

Interesting to see Sam Frears, I saw their dad at a Q&A recently (irrelevant). Although I loved the book, I'm not sure about the tv series, they are all annoying, especially Nina but I really want to like it

I like it, except the bloody hobbit feet affectations.

I didn't get on with the book at all.

I find Nina very irritating, especially going around London in bare feet. She seems like a classic 'I'm mad, me' type to be avoided at all costs.

Mary Kay Wilmers initially didn't want Nina to publish but then relented. AB did not like his portrayal in the book as he felt it made him seem dull. He and Nina seem to have fallen out a bit on Twitter over it. The boys are Stephen Frears' sons. Nina lives with Nunney and their kids. She might be on MN.

It's surprisingly dull for something that's so annoying.

I think the tv show pacing is wrong and focusing on the wrong things. Where mad fat diary got almost everything right this gets almost everything wrong.

I'm finding this quite sweet, if slight. Reminds me of a few literary types I knew growing up in boho London. I did love the book though. HBC is fabulous and looks bloody brilliant and the boys are ace.

I must be odd, I like it, in an odd kind of way...

Love HBC, she has some great lines. How come she looks so good, she's the same freakin' age as me?Like the house and remembering how ancient the 80's now seems (how long did she take to dial the cat lady?)

Like the fact is not all this modern fast action rubbish and it just plods along with gentle (on the whole) story lines and quiet humour. The only thing I find a bit annoying is that no one seems to laugh and the storylines should give an opportunity for this e.g the cat lady interview. Life isn't all serious discussions and 'looks', so yeah, they go a bit overboard on that but otherwise, enjoyin; it.

I'm quite enjoying it - annoyed at the continuity announcer who said more than once 'based on the bestseller by nick hornby' Angry
