Just started watching this. Stan only has five episodes, 1 season. Are there more?

Good to see I'm not on my own!
Really enjoyed the last episode, especially the bit that ran along to Adam and the Ants 'Goody Two Shoes' (weeps..,.how can this be so long ago?)
And Grin Grin at the bit where Nunney says Psyche has to obtain some cream from the Underworld and Nina replies that's the same thing as Boots on a Saturday. Love it.
Oh and gulp when HBC says 'you'll have to ask that question again in 30 years...in 2013.' Oh to be 16 -17 again!

Boring programme

Eddie I felt exactly as you do. Gave up on the book as it really just wasn't funny for me and I felt quite distant from the world it was describing.

I loved HBC's character in this. The series has definitely grown on me.

Oh, I loved it. Proper laugh out loud funny. Brilliant music, and really liked the Nina character. The only bit I didn't really like consistently is HBC.

Ace series. I do hope there is more, even if it means writing beyond the book.

Peed off with the girl with the Incredibly Self-Cleaning feet, tbh (having had to soak mine in w/up liquid after going out to the bins early yesterday morning with bare feet) wtf is that all about, then?
Nice to see HbC tho Smile

I liked this enough to stick with it until the end but still feel it would have been more enjoyable with the celeb element.

Just watched the last 2 episodes, yep, still enjoying it.

I haven't seen the TV programme, but I have read the book. I read the reviews which said how hilarious it was ,and was rather disappointed. I came to the conclusion that most of the reviewers came from the same background, and probably knew most of the people mentioned .

I'm quite enjoying it too, although it is a bit cutesy.

Nina lives with Nunney and their kids so nina is still with nunney then, did he not decide to go travelling or did nina go with him

I'm quite enjoying it - annoyed at the continuity announcer who said more than once 'based on the bestseller by nick hornby' Angry

I must be odd, I like it, in an odd kind of way...

Love HBC, she has some great lines. How come she looks so good, she's the same freakin' age as me?Like the house and remembering how ancient the 80's now seems (how long did she take to dial the cat lady?)

Like the fact is not all this modern fast action rubbish and it just plods along with gentle (on the whole) story lines and quiet humour. The only thing I find a bit annoying is that no one seems to laugh and the storylines should give an opportunity for this e.g the cat lady interview. Life isn't all serious discussions and 'looks', so yeah, they go a bit overboard on that but otherwise, enjoyin; it.

I'm finding this quite sweet, if slight. Reminds me of a few literary types I knew growing up in boho London. I did love the book though. HBC is fabulous and looks bloody brilliant and the boys are ace.

I think the tv show pacing is wrong and focusing on the wrong things. Where mad fat diary got almost everything right this gets almost everything wrong.

It's surprisingly dull for something that's so annoying.

Mary Kay Wilmers initially didn't want Nina to publish but then relented. AB did not like his portrayal in the book as he felt it made him seem dull. He and Nina seem to have fallen out a bit on Twitter over it. The boys are Stephen Frears' sons. Nina lives with Nunney and their kids. She might be on MN.

I find Nina very irritating, especially going around London in bare feet. She seems like a classic 'I'm mad, me' type to be avoided at all costs.
