Why are so many EE characters so unlikeable?

I wonder if it is because unlikeable characters evoke a stronger response than nice ones? And viewers don't whinge as much when they are killed off :)

There is always a sense of satisfaction when an unlikeable character gets their comeuppance. More than when a nice one gets their happy ending (if characters on EE were allowed happy endings that is...)

The Peggy storyline is going to be hideous to watch (apart from Grant). I can not stand weeks of looking at her woe is me face. They could use it as a good way to show end of life care, and I hope they do. Rather than just turning it into another Mitchell family drama.

I think that staring-into-the-middle-distance face is BW's idea of conveying tragedy. Someone needs to tell her it isn't working.

That previous episode a few months ago where Peggy sat in silence in the kitchen with Phil shouting at her was so very creepy and since then I've been weirded out by her.

I did wonder whether BW is genuinely ill as it all seems very odd. Had she said more than 3 words together?

I'm a big fan of Dame Babs but the hype about her story has been too much so I haven't found her recent scenes at all moving.

I didnt like the swinger storyline, Babe is repulsive, which is a shame as shes such a good actress and those kinds of characters dont have a long shelf life
