Apparently Danielle W came back for a few weeks to shoot the funeral scenes but she is still a bloody nightmare to work with so they didn't keep her!!!

SoupDragon · 18/05/2016 12:56

Apparently she was only ever going to be back for a few weeks.

Although I guess they would say that, wouldn't they?

BlueThursday · 18/05/2016 13:00

By the way babs was speaking last night it seemed she was responsible for getting Ross to return.

Ross was explaining his schedule and it's packed with a bit of EE in amongst it. Looks like he's done it as a favour to Babs

MissBattleaxe · 18/05/2016 13:11

Yes, Ross Kemp had in the past said he wouldn't return but in an interview recently he said "Have you ever tried saying no to Dame Barbara?"

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/05/2016 13:11

This is probably the very last time we will see Grant.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/05/2016 13:17

She has said before (I think in the "Back to ours" show from a few years ago) that Her, Steve and Ross have a very close relationship off screen.

It was something like:
"I never had children so they are my boys off screen too"Smile

bialystockandbloom · 18/05/2016 13:22

This is probably the very last time we will see Grant

^ that's heartbreak, right there!

Must have missed the bit about Sam. Thought it would be another case of someone missing their own parents funeral as they "couldn't get a flight".

southeastdweller · 18/05/2016 13:27

He's back on the summer. He confirmed it in the iPlayer tribute show.

MissBattleaxe · 18/05/2016 14:41

Yes, I heard Grant is back for a little while.

Kirriemuir · 18/05/2016 16:44

Daniella W was on breakfast tv the other day. She was only contracted for 2 weeks to do the funeral. She's done that. She wasn't sacked. She did turn up late one day when she broke down on the m25.

southeastdweller · 18/05/2016 16:58

I don't think she was sacked but it's telling that the EE boss didn't want her in Babs' last episode yesterday

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 18/05/2016 18:27

I was strangely disappointed by the bit in the Vic. In a way, I could see how it was working - the party going on around her, her more or less a shadow in what used to be the centre of her world, but it all felt very flat. The only bit I liked was Mick and Grant eyeballing each other - like two alpha males sizing up the competition!

I did like the references to being able to smell someone smoking foreshadowing Pat's arrival at the end.

I thought the last few minutes were really moving but otherwise...

nancy75 · 18/05/2016 19:04

I wish they hadn't killed of pat, she was one of the greatest characters they ever had.

SoleBizzz · 18/05/2016 19:09

On Rylan's chat show on C5 DW hinted she might be going into another soap up North...

MrsJayy · 18/05/2016 19:10

Yes I agree Pat is more iconic than Peggy imo She looked fab last night for a dead woman

MrsJayy · 18/05/2016 19:12

I think Daniella is going to holllyoaks seems to be where old soap stars end up

southeastdweller · 18/05/2016 19:14

The now former boss went way O.T.T in the iPlayer show. I had a feeling he was near obsessed with Babs and last night confirmed it, saying amongst other things that Peggy is the greatest ever matriarchal figure in TV. I think all these Peggy episodes were overly indulgent and he should have held back a little when she approached him about Peggy's final story.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 18/05/2016 19:17

I agree that really shouldn't have killed Pat off, she was a fantastic character. Miss her even more after last night!

AndYourBirdCanSing · 18/05/2016 19:19

Yes South, I thought that as well! He was totally besotted with her. All a bit too much!

MrsJayy · 18/05/2016 19:20

He was acting like she was the Queen of bloody sheba i thought calm down Dominic it was all very luvvie,

OhTinky · 18/05/2016 19:20

Good episode! But was there any significance in Whitney getting a scene with Dame Peggy? They weren't close were they? Would have made more sense to give her a scene with her own daughter?!

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 18/05/2016 19:56

Ah I've just watched it. Great move having the ghost of Pat. Also loved Phil and Grant wearing matching clothes - did Peggy dress them matchy matchy when they were boys?

All a bit teary here - but it's been a bit of a day.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/05/2016 20:58

Just catching up now

Thought mon episode and grants line 'my invitation got lost in the post' was crap

Thought Phil and grant got on ok??

Grant hasn't ages at all !!!

Now for Tuesday's episode

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 18/05/2016 21:37

Hmmm. Knew Peggy was dying. I didn't expect her to commit suicide

Thought she would slip away in sleep

Grant is very wooden

Knew pat was coming back as a ghost - Tho as I clicked on the link - kinda wish I hadn't

Someone asked
About spoilers. Fine to have links saying spoilers - but not to say what they are or discuss them on this thread till they have happened

Not sure why she kept saying she smelt smoking - assume it was pat

Lovely to see her back :)

Peggy didn't like shazza as she shagged both her sons and created 'shartongate' over that tape heard in the vic

Anyway Peggy is dead but as we all know dead/death in ee doesn't mean jack shit !!!!

Why does grant need money so much. Guess we wait for Courtney and little Mark aka teenager /early 20's to come back

jAson I also rem bab's saying that about her boys

Who had Arthur when hen/stag in the pub was on?

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 18/05/2016 21:44

*southeastdweller8 that's exactly what I thought. I thought DTC went overboard with the Peggy episodes and it looked a bit like a mutual love-in. I actually think Pat was the better matriarch. Barbara can be a bit hammy.
