I liked it

dh said it was crap (he was in the other room so no idea how he formed this opinion)

katierocket · 03/01/2007 12:02

I enjoyed it. Pleasant chewing gum for the brain.

S88AHG · 03/01/2007 12:02

I thought it was great - it made me laugh loads, they even played music from the original series in the background too. Egg in the kitchen cooking with the music on, Anna & Miles bitching, Milly trying to be perfect, and Warren was just the same. Agree whats going with Miles' hair, also Egg was the only one top get shirt off, still gorgeous though, Anna is just the same brilliant as ever. I really enjoyed it but hadnt thought too much about what it might be like, here s to the next one in 10 years !!!!

slug · 03/01/2007 12:33

Milli was too thin, she looked ill.

It's pleasing to see someone as thin as Anna developing a nice double chin

Miles hair

And what happened to Warren's accent? I thought he was Welsh originally.

KTeePee · 03/01/2007 12:36

Yes I thought of the Big Chill crossed with Peter's Friends when I was watching too...

Have to say PPH's fascinating factoids about the writer are far more interesting than the programme itself

tribpot · 03/01/2007 12:39

I liked it, although Miles' hair was frightening. Good job he decided to go off at the end to be a hippy nomad type as it was the only thing his hair-do was fit for!

Anna's biological clock thing was annoying and predictable - god forbid a successful thirtysomething woman could be happy in her own right.

PrincessPeaHead · 03/01/2007 12:44

Ummmm I'm not glad that I and everyone else found it disappointing, because I wanted it to be good! I enjoyed the series the first time around, but I don't think this added anything to it, really. But I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who thought it was crap, always nice to have your opinions validated and all that.
Is that what you meant Drosophila?

drosophila · 03/01/2007 13:15

Not sure what I meant actually. Really tired as I taped it and watched it till 12.30. I think I meant that as it was the ex you might want to see it crash but now I realise that this is a crap thing to think as you had said already that it wasn't because she was the ex. Sorry rambling

PrincessPeaHead · 03/01/2007 13:40

she was my dh's ex ages before I ever turned up on the scene so I don't have any problems with her! I've only met her once when we all had a perfectly nice lunch together, she was nice. Very different to me.

DizzyBint · 03/01/2007 13:53

this one off had an awful lot to live up to. i thought it was ok. but quite annoyingly predictable.

donnie · 03/01/2007 16:14

very disappointing, and the storyline was so off the richter scale it made Dynasty seem convincing! as if bailiffs would arrive in the middle of the night to remove his furniture, and all that stuff with Mark Lawson? vom city.

wish they;d let it lie!

thought Millie looked good though. Better hair.

oh yes meg tilly

she was the dead ones girlfriend

veryyyyyyyy similar though

I annoyed dh by shoutign out 'look they are JOGGING like in the big chill' 'look she wants his SPERM like in the big chill' 'ohmigod he is asking for investment LIKE IN THE BIG CHILL!!'

'fgs shut up enid' mutters dh

mamijacacalys · 03/01/2007 18:02

Another voice for the 'rather enjoyed it' vote.

But agree that plot rather connived and the story could've gone in much more interesting directions.

misspinkcat · 03/01/2007 19:25

Wikipedia has her as born in 1966.

i liked it and hated it at the same time

PrincessPeaHead · 03/01/2007 20:13

ha ha enid
donnie I rather primly said "well you know baliffs are only actually allowed to come around in DAYLIGHT hours by law" at that bit
lolol

SNOWMANdymoo · 03/01/2007 22:20

I thought Warren was welsh in the original series?

Somehow, he was speaking with a perfect english accent!

Crapola!

trying2bgood · 03/01/2007 23:28

I agree with popsy, I liked it but also thought there was something lacking! Warren's character was all over the place and the whole milly/anna thing did not work.

According to the papers, this was because although Amy Jenkins created it, the best writing/episodes were done by another writer who did not take part in this project.

I did not get the whole vietnamese wife thing, she added nothing to the show. Not really sure what Amy J was thinking at this point, also it was shame they had a whole documentary angle, as characters spent more time talking to camera rather than interacting with each other.

choosyfloosy · 04/01/2007 00:14

The more i think about it the less i like it.

it was a chance to 'catch up' with the original characters but why did i enjoy the original? because it seemed to bear some relation to reality as I experienced it, and in particular because it showed people at work and thinking about work, which was mostly what I was doing.

wish they'd stuck with that founding principle.
